10 Chapter 10: Unwanted Emotions

Zane shut the door to his small apartment, leaned back against the solid surface and took a deep breath.

After all these years, he was still unable to master control of his human emotions. Had he revealed too much to the woman who looked at him with such strange fascination? What was she really after?

Zane sighed with confusion, running his hands through his hair before he peeled the wet tee-shirt off his skin. All it did was rain in this miserable city. He tossed his shirt on the floor and went in search of a drink. Something hard that would banish those violet eyes from his racing mind.

He grabbed the half empty whiskey bottle on the counter and a clean glass. His bartending skills weren’t nearly as advanced as his cooking. A flash of Sera’s mouth, full of ice cream, her eyes gleaming up at him, caused him to grimace as a pang shot through his weak human heart.
