5 5. The Call For The Interview

I woke up the next morning feeling hopeful. I got freshened up and made a hearty breakfast of eggs and bacon with a glass of freshly prepared juice.

After the breakfast, I started for a job and vacancies in restaurants. I was looking through the jobs that fit my criteria, when something caught my eye.

It was a job about a personal chef for a diamond magnate who travelled all over the world. The job stated that the employee had to accompany the employer to every business trip. At first, I thought it was too good to be true. I mean, this must be some sort of a prank. However, I still filled out the form and sent my resume to the email address mentioned on the off chance it turned out to be true.

About five minutes later, I got a call.

"Hello"

"Hello, is this Miss Lane?"

"Yes, this is she. May I ask who is calling?"

"Miss Lane, I am Mr. Hardy's secretary. You replied to the ad regarding Mr. Hardy's personal chef."

"Yeah"

'This is insane ' ,I thought, 'These things happen only in movies or in those cheesy romance novels that are my guilty pleasure.'

" I would like you to come to our office in Fifth Avenue. I'll send you the address and please be there at nine sharp. Mr. Hardy despises people who are not punctual. I hope to see you tomorrow. Goodbye." Then, she hung up.

It was for the best as I was freaking out. Even though my qualification was that of a food stylist, I still loved to cook. That was the reason I chose this profession. It was the only thing my parents agreed to as a career choice that was related to food because it sounded fancy and they could easily boast about it. Nevertheless, I still loved my job and the only reason I quit was because I was unable to concentrate on the job.

I went to prepare for the interview. Thinking about what to make and it's presentation. The man was a billionaire. He could eat at any five star restaurant he wanted. Get the most expensive delicacies delivered to his doorstep. It would hard to impress him. So, I choose a dish that I could make blindfolded to reduce the chances of mistakes.

I felt a wave of dizziness when stood up to check the time. I saw that hours had passed and it was now dinnertime. I had missed my lunch that was why I felt dizzy.

Dinner was a simple affair as I microwaved the frozen lasagna. After dinner, I went to bed and set the alarm for six in the morning to avoid getting late.

The next morning, I woke up as soon as the alarm rang and emailed the list of ingredients I needed to Mr. Hardy's secretary as she had asked for it.

Getting dressed as fast as possible, I made my way toward the office and reached the building at eight thirty.

There was a logo with MH Diamonds written on the building. It was huge, about fifty storeys. The building looked like an architectural masterpiece. It sparkled like a diamond when light hit upon its surface.

I was really anxious about the interview and I entered the building. The inside of the building was in complete contrast to the outside. It had warm colours and was extremely inviting. It matched unexpectedly well with the outside.

At the reception desk, sat a beautiful petite woman with long dark hair tied in a ponytail. She had a smile on her face while answering the questions of everyone who entered into the building. I walked towards her and asked about the interview for the position of Mr. Hardy's chef. She directed me to the top floor and asked to turn right towards Linda's office(she was the secretary I talked to). She said that Linda would direct me towards the interview.

I anxiously made my way up. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it would explode from all the stress. I started to find it unable to breathe. I concluded that I was having a panic attack as the symptoms matched with Dr. Williams description. I tried to control it by taking a deep breath and applying the breathing techniques Dr. Williams taught me.

Just as I got it under control, the doors of the lift opened.
