39 Chapter 38: Search and Rescue

While Conan and Sato are following their basic instinct, Takagi leaves the building with the saved victims. Finally seeing sunlight once again most women are blinded at first and unable to believe their luck to be free at last. As most of them were born inside the organization, they never experienced a human treatment.

Seeing most women fall to their knees, thanking him for his generosity of freeing them, Takagi notices two thinks. The first being that neither Farrusi more Sato are present, the second being a beautiful redhead close to the entrance collapses to the floor. Sprinting to the woman's help, Takagi instantly sprints to her side, while calling for an ambulance.

Fifteen minutes later the ambulance has taken in the woman and drives to the next hospital. Seeing the present situation with more than twenty-five naked woman, he contacts Yakumaru.

(Yakumura) ''Yakumura speaking.''

Nervously Takagi reports. ''Officer Takagi speaking. We were able to confirm the location of the drug production in the 'Black building'.''

(Yakumura) ''Great. I will have to send Miss Kisaki a bottle of the vine when all is done. Now retreat from the complex and report back.

''That will not be possible, Sir!''

(Yakumura) ''Why not? Isn't this a simple drug operation?''

''No, sir it is most definitely not. We found around thirty women ranging from age five to thirty being imprisonment in the facility...''

(Yakumura) ''What? My daughter is five! These monsters! Officer Takagi, I authorize you and Sato to free these woman with deadly force!''

''Already done Sir. I freed the woman, but had to shoot five suspects...''

(Yakumura) ''Excellent job!''

''... Thank you, Sir. We originally split up to cover more ground. Explosions occurred in the building and officer Sato and Mr. Farussi are still inside.''

(Yakumura) ''God damm it! I will send ambulances and two stations to help you out. Keep me posted and report every half hour until I arrive.''

''Yes, Sir!''

Slamming the phone on his desk half an hour later, after informing both the Chief of Police as well as the ambulance, Yakumura rubs his head to get rid of an impending headache. While doing so he questions reality, as this simple drug case blow up into a drug/ human trafficking and what not case.

Needing to talk to someone well versed in the legal system Yakumura calls the only lawyer he can trust, seeing that the moles in the justice and police department are still active and undiscovered.

(Midori Kuriyama) ''Law Firm Kisaki and Partners. Secretary of Eri Kisaki, Midori Kuriyama speaking. How may I help you?''

Slightly annoyed about speaking to the secretary he says. ''Officer Yakumaru speaking. I would like to talk to Miss Kisaki.''

(Midori Kuriyama) ''Miss Kisaki is currently in a meeting with very important client's. Should I make a note, so that Miss Kisaki can call you back when she finds the time?''

''No. Tell Miss Kisaki, that I have to talk to her about her informant by the name of Jacques Farussi!'' Demands the undercover officer, knowing that there is some special connection between the man and the Queen.

Hearing some muffled sounds and people talking, he assumes that the secretary is informing Erin.

(Midori Kuriyama) ''Miss Kisaki is interrupting her meeting and ready to talk to you. I am patching you through to her...''

Before Yakumaru is able to thank the woman he already hears the cool voice of the Queen.

(Erin) ''What happened? I have heard about explosions in the 'Black building'! Don't bullshit me saying that it is an ongoing investigation! I know you Yakumaru!''

Feeling a cold shudder run down his spine Yakumaru involuntary gulps hard before answering the Queen's question. ''Your informant and one of my officers are missing. We not only found the drug production facility but also around thirty women in bad condition.''

(Erin) ''Bastards!... I guess you aren't calling me to give me a report on the situation. How is Farussi? Which officer is with him?''

Unable to refuse to answer her he simply answers her. ''No, I am not, the situation of Farussi is unknown and officer Sato is with him.''

(Erin) ''Damm playboy... What is it that you want from me?''

Ignoring her initial comment Yakumaru knows that knowledge is the time to get the woman's help, so he asks her. ''Since the case is now become primarily a human traffic case, is there any legal wiggle room for me to keep the case?''

(Erin) ''Hm... Let me think for a second...''

Half an hour later Erin ends her call with Yakumaru, she takes a deep breath to calm her raising heart. Having spent the last twenty-five minutes explaining to the man a legal loophole while already imaging the worst for her lover and future sister. Stretching herself in front of the window overlooking the city, Erin puts her clothing back into place.

Today she wears a sexy light brown v-neck sweater/ jacked hold together by two nodes on her left side right above her hips, a dark blue business skirt, and her killer high heels having still put on her reading glasses, while also having her hair in her iconic bun, she exudes a cold, all business look, while also obliging the image of a very sexy teacher or librarian.

Thinking about what to do next, she decides to give in to the idea of just driving to the building and search for Conan and Sato herself. Having made her decision she leaves her office while remembering Ran, to be still attending her kendo class and Ai still at the mansion doing her research.

As she is cursing her lack of a tangible superpower, not really counting her unnaturally high fertility rate as well as being able to give birth seemingly initially often, she bumps into her secretary Midori.

Seeing her boss in a bad mood after having talked to the police officer, Midori tentatively asks. ''Everything okay, boss?''

''Not really...'' Erin tells her friend, before explaining. ''... There have been two explosions downtown. One in the convention center and one in the 'Black Building'.''

''What?!...'' Midori screams frightened, stating. ''My nephew is attending the Nintendo Concentration with his class!''

''Let's hope for the best and be prepared for the worst...'' Consoles Erin her friend, while putting on her warm winter coat. ''... So, see you later have Jeff take care of my remaining meeting. Since he wants to be coming to a partner he can do partner stuff.''

Smiling put still concerned for her nephew Midori says. ''Will do.''

Just when Erin is leaving the office, she tells her assistant/ secretary. ''Oh and when you are done with that take the rest of the day free.''

Taking the elevator down to the underground parking lot of the skyscraper her law firm is situated in, Erins thoughts return to Conan and the officer. Reaching the parking lot, she swiftly jumps into her new lib stick red Mercedes Maibach 6.

Ever since having become the mistress of Conan, she had wanted to upgrade her original silver diesel Mercedes to an electric one. This not only allows performance characteristics typical of a sports car like acceleration from 0‑100 km/h in under four seconds but also a top speed electronically governed at 320 km/h.

Just like that Erin drives him to pick up first Ran, then Ai, as she thinks that Ais shrinking ability might come in handy.
