Chapter 21: Idear of human evolution

While Erin, Conan, and Ran are more the most part enjoying their vacation in Italy by mostly fucking like rabbits and collecting crazy amount wealth, Shiho Miyano aka Sherry finds herself enlightened. Ever since the organization had tried to have her sister killed the seed of distrust had been growing in her mind.

Research not only her own project but also related ones of other scientists, Sherry discovered parts of the dirty underbelly of operation. Gun and human trafficking are shockingly the more humane ones as she discovers. Reading more and more of the illegal business practices used by her employers, their moral guideline can only be described as 'supply and demand'.

-Take Dr. Franks research for example. That monster not only tested abominations of my drug on humans but also bread future human test subjects just because he could. The organization then used the produced children for...- Sherry has to stop reading and thinking, feeling disgusted by the research protocols of the bastard, now not even feeling the least bit guilty for having slight his thought.

Not able to read more of a twisted man's twisted thoughts, Sharon continues to hack into the system. After more than an hour of work, she finally gains access to the master file containing all the information about all the currently ongoing research projects.

Scrolling through the long list of research projects, Sherry makes a copy everything on a solid hard drive, before wanting to the lockout. Just before she presses on the power button on her workstation, she checks out the inventory, to look where prototypes of the latest drug development are stored.

Coincidentally two prototypes of the drug are currently in the infirmary to be given to two highly wounded agents.

-Hm... I didn't know Vodka and Tequila were in an explosion.- She thinks while login out and turning off her workstation.

Taking a pill of the most advanced version of APTX 4869 with herself as well as the hard drive containing the master file as well as her personal research notes, she leaves her laboratory.

Running from her laboratory to the infirmary, knowing that her little hacking stunned is most likely already discovered and guards are already on their way to arrest her Sherry is able to reach her destination without any incident.

''Can I help you with anything?'' Asks a nurse that sees her rummage through the drug store.

''Ahm... Well yes, you can!...'' Sherry tells smiling at the nurse, instantly stopping her desperate attempt to find the two pills. ''... I am looking for the APTX 5000 that should be stored somewhere around here.''

''Oh those just arrived half an hour ago...'' The nurse says walking to a package laying on a table nearby while starting to complain.''... we are supposed to give them to these two unfriendly men. I consider it a waste of resources to help them, but what can I say against decisions of the higher-ups.''

''Nobody can do or say a thing against it,...'' Sherry says, remembering the reports by Dr. Frank. -That sick monster in human skin always told me that he was fighting infertility in women and impotence in man.- ''... whatever 'IT' may be...''

''Ah, I hear you, sister...'' Says the nurse handing her two pill bottles containing the two APTX 5000. ''... here you go.''

''Thanks.'' Says Sherry already hearing guard running throw the corridors while rushing out of the infirmary. Knowing the shortest way to leave, she tries to reach it, only to be stopped or forced to change her direction because of guards.

-I never knew this place had so many guards.- Sherry curses her luck, finding the exit she so desperately needed already guarded by two heavily armed guards in full body armor and AK-47.

Hering guards also closing in on her from behind she moved into the first open door she can find. Locking the door behind her, her heart beating abnormality fast, she finds herself in an abandoned office space. Seeing no place to go and no chance of hiding, but finding an old ventilation shaft, she removes the cover and puts her hard drive inside.

Standing back Sherry takes out two pill bottles from her lab coat. ''Either I die or this works. Both options are better than the alternative.'' She tells herself while simultaneously swallowing APTX 4869 and APTX 5000. Instantaneously the body heats up and a mind-numbing pain consumes her senses, as her nervous system begins to collapse and her bones start to fracture.

The moment her nerves are disintegrating her senses starts to malfunction. The first one to stop functioning is to her sense of touch otherwise known as somatosensation. Not far behind is her sight. Rapidly losing all five senses, the last one to lose is her sense of taste. The last thing she senses before her mind collapses is a familiar taste of iron.

Regaining all her five senses all of a sudden, Sherry feels crippling pain all over her boy, while she awakens to the sounds of wood breaking. Trying to stand up despite having the worst kind of hangover in addition to her nervous system going haywire, she finds her point of view strangely low. Looking down on herself she finds her breasts gone and her clothes hanging loosely on her childlike body.

-It worked.- She thinks mentally totally unable to comprehend to the true extent of the changes still going on in her body. Seeing the office door already dangerously cave inwards the springs into action. Now ranked down Sherry takes out the second APTX 5000 pill bottle from her lab coat, mostly undresses down to only wearing her pullover that now doubles as a dress and climbs into the ventilation shaft.

Crawling around the first corner, while taking the solid hard drive containing the master file with her, she soon hears the door finally break. Smiling to herself she silently crawls through the maze of ventilation shafts.

-Good thing I learned of the layout when directing Conan through them.- Sherry thinks finally finding one that leads outside. Removing the cover by simply kicking insistent against it, she finds herself three meters above ground. Wishing to be tall again, she simply pushes herself out of the ventilation shaft, while hoping to survive the fall and only get crippled by it.

Bracing herself and expecting pain, Sherry only feels the gravel pavement cut into her bare feet. Checking her body once again she is baffled to notice that she is back to her original size. Boobs, long legs included. Pulling down her now too short to cover the important parts pullover, while clutching hard drive and pill bottle in her hands, she just starts running away from the facility that for the last few years was her home.

Ever since her parents died she had been obsessively working and perfecting her research. Leaving it all mostly behind, she suddenly gets a sense of freedom. Walking down the streets she slowly realizes, that she has gone back to being a kid.

Thinking about is rationally the sudden change back into a child isn't that unexpected considering that her body only has a finite amount of energy in form of calories and her body is currently trying to save as much energy as possible. Her child body is just more cost effective as her adult one.

Walking around aimlessly but free, Sherry finds her way to the Kudo Manor unable to fend off the exhaustion she collapses in front of the iron gates. Having fallen unconscious she isn't even aware of an old fat wrinkly man wearing a lab coat walking out of his house hours later. Seeing the unconscious child the old man takes her in his arms and carries her into his home to get her nurse her back to health.
