The call was from Fu Sichen.
Ever since the cat-theft incident, Xiao Nian lamented about Pei Zhen using his mobile phone to send the text messages that got him into trouble. Despite that, he screen-grabbed their conversations; he hadn't been able to help himself.
In the distant future, when he would no longer be in the entertainment circle, he would be able to show and brag to others about how he "managed" his artist.
The daydream that he conjured up was beautiful. Only, when Fu Sichen's call came, the glamorous picture of a proud hero he created for himself immediately self-destructed.
Why was Best Actor Fu calling him?
Was he still sore about him stealing the cat?
He had already admitted it was all his fault.
There was no need for accountability on Pei Zhen's part at all. Xiao Nian was going to pick up the call with his trembling hand, but alas, mistakenly switched off his mobile phone instead.
Xiao Nian panicked.
He pressed the off switch of his mobile phone without hesitating. He stared at the black screen and slowly calmed down. "Phew, what a scare."
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is not available…"
When he tried calling again, he got the same cold voice message. Fu Sichen frowned. He couldn't understand why Xiao Nian didn't pick up the call.
"Best Actor Fu." The make-up artist was a young lady. She both idolized and was in awe of Fu Sichen and spoke in a low voice, "I-it's time to do your make-up."
Fu Sichen put away his mobile phone with an unchanging expression. "Okay."
The genre of the movie was fantasy, and Fu Sichen was guest starring as an ancient god. When he appeared in his white costume completed with long white hair, his female fans once again gasped audibly.
Fu Sichen looked far, far better in real life than in the photographs.
The background story of the fantasy movie was that the female lead was a nine-tailed fox spirit, and hence there were quick transformations between human and fox spirit forms during the filming. As Fu Sichen stared at the Samoyed who doubled as the fox spirit, he fell into deep thought.
"Don't think of it as just a Samoyed; special effects will definitely turn it into a fox!" The Director reminded them.
Fu Sichen looked on silently.
Seeing Fu Sichen being so quiet, the Director added, "Really! The special effects team came at a high price, and they are superb!"
Fu Sichen creased his brows and asked purposefully, "In real life, could human beings turn into animals?"
"What?" The Director laughed and thought Fu Sichen was joking. "Not possible. The authorities passed a regulation that after 1949, animals would not be allowed to turn into spirits."
Fu Sichen fell silent again.
Whatever it was, after an afternoon of filming, it was a wrap for Fu Sichen. After saying goodbye to the filming crew, he took his cat and left.
Avoiding the fans, Fu Sichen didn't get into the passenger seat and took the driver seat instead.
Following close behind him, Wang Youquan, who also served as Fu Sichen's bodyguard called out, "Sichen?"
Fu Sichen secured the Persian cat with the seat belt. "I'm going to the hospital."
"My great Fu Sichen, what about me?" asked Wang Youquan.
"You have a pair of legs."
With swift movements, Fu Sichen put on his own seat belt and decisively stepped on the accelerator, leaving his manager in a cloud of exhaust fumes.
The abandoned Wang Youquan was at the verge of tears. But before he could even think of the swear words to use, the assistant's call for help came in.
"Big brother Wang, Fu Sichen has made the hot search list; and Sichen's cat has made the hot search list. And Fu Sichen's cat's ex-owner has made the hot search list as well!"
"What?" Wang Youquan was puzzled.
Fu Sichen sped all the way to the hospital.
As he had called before the visit, the nurses on duty were prepared and managed to keep their emotions under control when they saw him.
"How is Pei Zhen?"
"Don't worry, Fu Sichen, his physical functions are all normal." They updated Fu Sichen with the latest report. Upon reaching the room, Fu Sichen turned to shut the door. The nurses were puzzled. "Fu Sichen?"
"What is going to happen next is not suitable for kids."
