6 Chapter 6: Tragic Tale of a Destined Couple(Part two)

Title: Tragic Tale of a Destined Couple - A Star-Crossed Lovers? (Part two)

Genre: Romance, Tragedy

Two-Shot:

It happened quite a long time ago, when he was still a youth, full of energy, full of imagination.

It was at that time when he met her, the girl whom he encountered and made a big splash in his life. The girl whom he met once, and then never after.

Was it during his middle school years? Or was it when he was a high-schooler? But surely, it wasn't during his college days because he can still remember mourning for his lost love that time.

'What did she look like?' He wondered as he tried to walk back to his memory lane.

She had an inky black hair that cascades like a waterfall, reaching up to her waist. But after so many years, did she already cut it? Did she dye it brown like others or maybe cut it shorter, inches above her shoulders?

She also had a tanned skin, but he could still remember how she told him that she wanted to have a fair white skin. She never wanted long nails and she didn't paint them with any color. She wanted to wear bright colors such as red and blue, but her favorite combination of colors was white and black. Her favorite food was chocolate and she hated orange juice or any beverages with the flavor of orange.

They only met once. It didn't even last for 24 hours, but he knew many, many things about her.

Once again he wonders. He wonder if that girl still remember him, the replacement. Still remember that sweet encounter under the blooming sherry blossoms a long time ago.

The spring wind softly glades across the bundles of cherry blossom leaves, dragging several pink flower petals as they successfully pass through the cherry trees. They would exhibit a beautiful scenery to the passing audience with the beautiful pinks on the air, but at the end of the day, those flowers would still end up as litters to be thrown away.

Everything is fleeting, nothing remains permanent.

Everything changes, nothing is exempted from this rule.

Other says there is forever, while others says there is none.

Maybe in terms of human nature, there might be forever, just like how there would always be greedy, selfish, or prideful man or there will always be a generous, selfless, and a humble person. However, it can't be denied that there is no forever in love.

The marriage vow says 'Till death do tear us apart'. Meaning that after one of the couple dies, the love ends.

Furthermore, everyone is bound to die. Thus, how can there be forever when it is supposed to end at the moment of death?

There was this girl who loved this boy.

It wasn't an unrequited love because the boy also loved the girl.

They were childhood sweethearts for they knew each other since they were even babies and it was long known that they would end up as couples and even as a wedded pair.

The two have long accepted this fact, and they already made plans for their future.

They would marry at that church, they would buy that house and that type of car and they would have a pair of children, one son and the other a daughter. They would retire at that age and spend their remaining time at that place.

Their plan encompassed their whole lives, they even included where they would be buried after they die.

Everything seemed perfect, but as there is no such thing as perfect, an unfortunate event came and the plans the two created was bound to become useless.

The girl together with her family was caught upon an accident and all of them lost their lives. The boy was utterly devastated and suffered from a selected memory lost.

The psychologists said that it was the subconscious response of his brain to prevent him from breaking down, and it was better to let those memories be buried deep within his mind instead of letting him remember those lost memories.

Was the psychologist a quack? They didn't know but decided to follow what they were told since they clearly understand how deep the affection between the boy and the deceased girl.

Everyone believed it, but the truth was something out of this world, a truth that would make this seemingly simple non-fiction story into a tale.

The girl and her family died due to a supernatural phenomenon caused by something higher and greater than humans. As a form of compensation, they would grant a single wish if it met with the proper condition.

As she was the only child of the family, both her parents wanted her to live. The higher being said that it was possible but only with a certain catalyst and if her body was still intact.

The parents were both overjoyed and immediately decided that the catalyst should be the boy who loved their daughter. They didn't know what being the catalyst means but if it was something or someone that could strengthen the connection of the girl and the world of the living, then it would certainly be the boy.

The parents didn't know the details, but it all went like this…

The boy would lose all his memories regarding the girl and everything connected to her and in a span of 24 hours, the girl will be given a chance to return to the world of living to make the boy regain his memory of her.

It doesn't matter if the boy don't remember the girl within that day, even if he remember the girl a day or week after, the girl could be revived as long as her body remains intact.

Everything should have been fine if the boy's family didn't purposely hid his selected amnesia.

Everything should have been fine if the girl's body wasn't hurriedly incinerated.

However, no matter how many if's there are, nothing could still be changed.

The boy turned to a youth, the youth turned to a man, the man turned into an old man and the old man was then buried six feet under the ground.

The boy died without a grandchild, child or a wife.

The youth died believing he would meet her again.

The man died not remembering the girl whom he spent his childhood with.

The old man died believing that it was star-crossed encounter.

Believing that they only met once, never remembering those happy times of the far far past.
