When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same?
Nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain
We've been through this such a long long time
Just tryin' to kill the pain, ooh yeah
Love is always coming, love is always going
No one's really sure who's lettin' go today
Walking away
If we could take the time to lay it on the line
I could rest my head just knowin' that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walkin' in the cold November rain
Do you need some time on your own?
Do you need some time all alone?
Ooh, everybody needs some time on their own
Ooh, don't you know you need some time all alone
I know it's hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn't time be out to charm you?
Oh, oh, oh
Sometimes I need some time on my own
Sometimes I need some time all alone
Ooh, everybody needs some time on their own
Ooh, don't you know you need some time all alone
And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain, oh yeah
I know that you can love me when there's no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness, we still can find a way
'Cause nothin' lasts forever, even cold November rain
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
You're not the only one
You're not the only one
Don't ya think that you need somebody?
Don't ya think that you need someone?
Everybody needs somebody
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy
I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me
To me
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama! Ooh!
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on
As if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye, everybody
I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind
And face the truth
Mama! Ooh!
(Anyway the wind blows)
I don't wanna die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all
I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche! Scaramouche!
Will you do the fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning
Very, very frightening me!
Galileo! Galileo!
Galileo! Galileo!
Galileo, Figaro!
Magnifico!
I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
(He's just a poor boy from a poor family)
(Spare him his life, from this monstrosity)
Easy come, easy go
Will you let me go?
Bismillah!
No, we will not let you go!
(Let him go!)
Bismillah!
We will not let you go!
(Let him go!)
Bismillah!
We will not let you go!
(Let me go!)
Will not let you go!
(Let me go!)
Never, never let you go!
Never, never, never let me go!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no!
Oh, mamma mia, mamma mia!
Mamma mia, let me go!
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me!
For me!
For me!
So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Oh, baby!
Can't do this to me, baby!
Just gotta get out
Just gotta get right outta here!
Oh, yeah!
Oh, yeah!
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me
Anyway the wind blows
When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you

On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (any time of year)
You can find it here
Her mind is Tiffany-twisted
She got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
That she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain
"Please bring me my wine"
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here
Since 1969"
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling
The pink champagne on ice
And she said, 'We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device"
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man
"We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave"
Hey Jude, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.
Hey Jude, don't be afraid.
You were made to go out and get her.
The minute you let her under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain,
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder.
Hey Jude, don't let me down.
You have found her, now go and get her.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.
So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin,
You're waiting for someone to perform with.
And don't you know that it's just you, hey Jude, you'll do,
The movement you need is on your shoulder.
Hey Jude, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her under your skin,
Then you'll begin to make it
Better better better better better better, oh.

'Tô precisando visitar a minha filha
Eu fico aqui e você vai no meu lugar"
No Ano Novo eu começo a trabalhar
E conhecia muita gente interessante
Fez amigos, frequentava a Asa Norte
Começou a roubar
Destemido e temido no Distrito Federal
E o coração dele pra ela o Santo Cristo prometeu
Essas palavras vão entrar no coração
Jeremias, maconheiro sem-vergonha
Organizou a Rockonha e fez todo mundo dançar
Desvirginava mocinhas inocentes
E a saudade começou a apertar
Eu vou me embora, eu vou ver Maria Lúcia
Aquela menina bosal pra quem jurei o meu amor
Dizendo a hora e o local e a razão
E acertou o Santo Cristo, começou a sorrir
Sentindo o sangue na garganta
João olhou pras bandeirinhas e pro povo a aplaudir
E olhou pro sorveteiro e pras câmeras e
Ela trazia a Winchester-22
Deu cinco tiros no bandido traidor
Sofrer
This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end of our elaborate plans
The end of everything that stands
The end
No safety or surprise
The end
I'll never look into your eyes again
Can you picture what will be?
So limitless and free
Desperately in need of some stranger's hand
In a desperate land
Lost in a Roman wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain
There's danger on the edge of town
Ride the king's highway
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway West, baby
Ride the snake
Ride the snake
To the lake
The ancient lake, baby
The snake is long
Seven miles
Ride the snake
He's old
And his skin is cold
The West is the best
The West is the best
Get here and we'll do the rest
The blue bus is calling us
The blue bus is calling us
Driver, where are you taking us?
The killer awoke before dawn
He put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived
And then he paid a visit to his brother
And then he, he walked on down the hallway
And he came to a door
And he looked inside
"Father?"
"Yes, son?"
"I want to kill you"
"Mother, I want to..."
Come on, yeah
Come on, baby, take a chance with us
Come on, baby, take a chance with us
Come on, baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin' a blue rock on a blue bus
Doin' a blue rock, c'mon yeah!
Fuck, fuck-ah, yeah
Fuck, fuck
Fuck, fuck
Fuck, fuck, fuck, yeah
C'mon baby, c'mon
Fuck me baby, fuck yeah
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, yeah!
Fuck, yeah! C'mon baby
Fuck me baby, fuck, fuck yeah
Whoa, whoa, yeah, fuck, yeah
C'mon, yeah
Alright
Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill...
This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end
It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
This is the end
Overhead the albatross
Hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant time
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine
And no one showed us to the land
And no one knows the where's or why's
But something stirs and something tries
And starts to climb toward the light
Strangers passing in the street
By chance, two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can?
And no one calls us to move on
And no one forces down our eyes
No one speaks and no one tries
No one flies around the sun
Cloudless everyday
You fall upon my waking eyes
Inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning
And no one sings me lullabies
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky
Take two
Okay
You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out (in)
Don't you know it's gonna be
All right?
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're all doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We'd all love to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
Don't you know it's gonna be (all right)
All, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all, all right
All right, all right, all right, all right, all right

I'll see it end: here now and forever
For so long now I have seen
All of the paths and where they all will lead
I made a promise to a friend, but
Now it's one I can't keep
You have betrayed every soul

You've generated Genocide, but
I refuse to be beat
Now I know that I'm alone
But I have to stop you where you stand
so you won't win the game
So it's for your friends and mine I have to fight right now
I have to give it my all
I won't hold anything back so
You had better be prepared
I will sacrifice everything that I have somehow
So please my friend
Just let this end
Come on now kid, you and me together
Come and let's see which of us is better
I guarantee, that for your endeavor
I'll see it end: here and now
So in this fight, you are going to pay
For the lives lost, all those that you have slain
So come here kid, because it is the day
You will now know the true meaning of pain
I want to say this first, the true genre of this novel is Netorare. But not just any Netorare. And while it might look like netori, it's actually a netorare. But with the antagonist as the victim.
The story begins by a rejection from kanae, the female MC, after she got confessed by Yukiya, the male "protagonist". As she said she likes her other childhood friend, Souta. But after the confession, she realizes that Yukiya was the one besides her all this time and the one she truly love. So the story continued with her chasing after Yukiya and forgets about her affection to Souta
Souta is a guy with with high spec since he was a kid and he was a popular guy. But it turns out that he is actually a narcisstic guy with a delusion that he's a "protagonist" of a harem novel that he often reads. So he immersed himself in this settings of a harem protagonist that keeps every girl around and never choose anyone. And he thought that Kanae is also a part of his harem. And he was so obnoxious and deluded and tries to separate Kanae from Yukiya because he thought that Kanae likes him, and must keep being a part of his harem. And she certainly liked him at some point. Because he was a "popular" guy so kanae got swept by everyone around her and admiring souta, until Yukiya confessed to her.
The story ended with everyone betraying Souta, as he realized that no one actually likes him. The girls that confessed to him actually chooses him as a second option to Yukiya, but because Yukiya likes Kanae, they settled with Souta. And in the end Kanae got together with Yukiya. Only on their wedding day Souta realizes all his delusions and regrets it all. Hence the netorare.
All in all, the characters lines of thought were written bizarrely to fit this netorare scheme. And the story is deceptively written like a common cliche of a rejected protagonist and a heroine that realises her love for the protagonist, with multiple PoVs, but the story is really more of a cautionary tales of a deluded person that doomed himself. You can either read this story as a fluffy romcom, or an NTR story. I think the true message the author wants to give is actually "stop reading too much fictions and face reality
This is my first Review so please bear with me.
contains minor spoilers
First the Story
A boy who is rejected by his childhood friend Because of what she was in love with another boy But in the end she realizes her true feelings and we will see how their relationship develops.
It's an interesting premise and curious to see how she begins to realize her feelings for him while he tries to deal with the rejection while still loving her.
Score: 9/10
Characters
Souta: The main antagonist of this series He is the typical loner MC who has an unexplainable harem even though at the beginning he shows despicable behavior with a desire to beat him up in the end he manages to redeem himself.
Kanae: She is the main heroine of the story at the beginning she rejects the MC because she was in love with souta but later she realizes her true feelings, it is interesting to see how she realizes her feelings while carrying a sense of guilt and tries to get closer to him.
Yukiya : He is the main protagonist of this story.
He is in love with his childhood friend Kanae, is rejected by her, then has to deal with the awkwardness of rejection, while being pressured by Souta.
Rating: 8.5/10
Overall I'd say it's a good time passer and I liked it a lot so my final score is 9/10
Lol so one of the recent many misunderstanding novels where the fMC shoots herself in the foot. Everything so far has been a shitshow and it's basically kinda a troupe now?
First is the MC. We don't know much about him because the story makes him a side character of the first 14 chapters of the novel that is about his love life? So far there is nothing about his him that makes him distinguishable and charismatic as a character, nothing that hints to why the heroine is falling head over heels for him. If I have one thing to say about him, it'd be "typical JP MC".
fMC was weird for me because basically she was fond of this popular guy, and then when she rejects the MC she becomes like "f*ck the popular guy, I like the MC now", makes me think that author must have skipped a character arc or some sort. Why did she like the popular guy in the first place, and then suddenly throws her fondness towards him outta the window and pretend like she had never even had the hots for him? Oh wait, she fell for the guy because the story wanted her to I guess. And then lastly, we have this one-dimensional unlikable popular guy who is a typical narcissistic douchebag who wants to hinder the two MCs relationship because he wants the fMC to join his harem and thinks the fMC has already become his girl. The synopsis describes this popular guy as a "great rival" but wtf do you mean by "great rival" here, author? Here is another thing about the fMC that I don't like. She knows that this douchebag popular guy is bullying the MC but does nothing to stop the guy and only cares about her obsession with the MC, which to me, makes her not much better of a character than the popular guy. She just comes up as quite a selfish girl as well.
Idk which direction the author wants to take this story to. But good job making some of the characters extremely unlikable for now I guess. And why am I still reading this even though I just wrote all of these negative points? Well, the same reason people are addicted to junk food I guess. Your expectations are so low now that everything comes off as interesting despite being as cliché and generic as it gets.
Edit 1: Ah yes, something I forgot to mention, which is that there are quite a number of filler chapters that are basically the same event told from another character's perspectives. Some find this tolerable, and some might find this unpleasant.
Edit 2: Holy crap the popular dude and his harem are so cringe. They are in some sort of council that isn't like a circle of friends, but act like knights of the round table. F*ck off, author. These are just high schoolers, not some cardboard kid shows' villain and his cronies for god sake.
Warning: this contains spoilers
First my overall opinion: This is a good read if you have some free time available, not the most original, I know, but enjoyable. I also like the multiple POV used to tell the story, so we can understand the involved characters without having to make assumptions about them or being fixed on a character's opinion about the others. I can't say anything about the translation though since I read it with GoogleMTL (yeah, I kinda became a sucker for the format "She/he rejected me and now she/he is repenting" kind of story lately and didn't want to wait)
So well (SPOILERS INCOMING) we got the MC1, FMC, and MC2 as the story's focus, all of them are childhood friends from childcare age up to now at high school.
So far MC1 has been simping FMC like forever but finally decides to confess to her, but is rejected because she loves MC2,
Edit: Not worth reading on the translator's website. Details below.
Still pretty early days, so I won't rate yet. It's definitely an interesting way to approach telling the story, which really stands out in the seas of nearly copy-pasted novels we sail 'round here.
But the website. Dear god the website. It's an inconsistent mess - and not just behind the scenes. Random bits of text get different colors - even in the middle of a sentence. And behind the scenes... good luck if you want to try cleaning it up at all - even just with Dark Reader. It's not even bad in a consistent way. It's consistently bad, but in brand new and exciting ways.
And to salt that particular wound, the translator can be a bit chatty to boot.
Edit: And it gets worse. Somehow.
Now, around chapter 25, the translator has started adding ads for his patreon into the *middle* of the chapters. Before and after wasn't enough, apparently.
This story is interesting, but it's not worth reading like this. Under the hood, the website could be mistaken for a particularly over the top parody. The translation is not the worst I've seen, but that's the best I can say for it and quite a low bar. Add in the various oddities you can't reliably fix, and it gets difficult to justify. Once you throw in the fact there's almost as much space devoted to patreon ads as there is actual chapter, it just about pushes things over the edge. And considering those patreon ads are now invading the text of the chapter itself, yeah, no. Not worth it.
If somebody other than NoiceTranslations picks this up, give it a shot. Otherwise, it's a real hard sell.
i really like this one since its a new breath for me
transmigrator has been a dull setting for me since most novel I know follow an iq-shattering routine ;
get undeserved power - slay cannon fodder - get pu*sy - stronger cannon fodder appeared -get undeserved power - and repeat
this novel however at the time I am reading, its MC ability does not focus in the present but instead meddle with the past as he struggles to make up believable story to change others opinion on him by "revealing the truth"
i, myself really enjoy abused backstory and sacrificial story hence why I give this novel a high review (4.0)
the only downside of it is how repetitive the filler character behavior and it seems like author didn't gave them enough intelligence to feel like a proper character
it follow a certain routine
filler/fMC character doubted and felt sorry for our MC - lin feng (?) worried and reassuring that MC is very bad - "suddenly their eyes got cold" - lin feng happy again
and it happened numerous time, I feel like there's a slight change needed here and then
apart from difficulty reading (im not very good in english as evident added with my inexperienced self with chinese writing style, I had difficulty understanding so many lines), I think this novel is good and worth reading for atleast 100 chapter!
So the main plot is that he "rewrites" the memory... That is clear from the description. But not really, somehow the memory he writes and shows them is, in fact, what truly happened. So, everyone that saw his memory realized that he was actually their protector, except for the original novel's MC
At the end of the original novel, the novel's MC awakens the soul of previous gods (Author did this randomly because the readers of the original novels kept saying that the MC was a waste and everything happened only because of the strong heroines,) however this also comes as a fluke/twist, our MC using his rewrite system, uncovers that the novel's MC is not the rencarnation of those Gods, or anything similar. But that he is a being from a superior world that kind of stole those souls/essences, and the original Gods are in fact, the previous lives of our MC.
.
.
.
So far, the novel describes all of this in a way that you don't feel that you're being thrown BS at your face, and I love that.... But then! After everything is settled, the MC is revived, the novel's MC is dealt with by the heroines + MC. Our MC realized that one of the heroines (doesn't know which one) is the same as the novel's MC, a being from another world with the aim of conquering our MC's world....
Here comes the twist, he ends up having an or*y with all of the heroines on their first night together and at the end of it, they all turn to light and dissappear. Meaning? All the heroines were beings from another world. So now that other world has their biggest families arguing over who won the "bet" over this lower realm world, and we are told that the "heroines" were soul fragments of important females characters of those big families, and now, although not dead, they are just a secondary soul in the bodies of the original girls, who are at their peak, and have no feelings whatsoever for MC.
So in short, we have 200 episodes seeing the heartwrenching stories of the MC with each girl, only to see him lose all of them right after being reunited. Now the plot changes to him trying to awaken those soul fragments in the bodies of the original girls, before they get destroyed of course.
MC is smart. story is logical. no unneccesory problem for MC without any cause. MC moral is acceptable. The problem start here- MC is way too pervert every time he thinks of f*cking someone and keeps f*cking ancient goddess unicorn, every race. he even start f*cking in front of child like daughter with a goddess who is her mother's enemy but you can somehow go through this cause its not too much harem (still in acceptable range). but main problem is MC acting like gods on earth (jesus, japnese god, ancient f*cking chinese emperor god, etc) which is way tooooo much cringe that even you will be ashamed to read. japnese, usa, korean people should avoid this reading cause too much tr*sh talk about your country. when ever MC on earth a lot of content about chinese culture is this that and rest of culture is bad. he just too much tr*sh talk about chinese culture and him acting like god will make you vomit. charater talk like typical chinese cringe novel.... good point is he doesn't kill too much people for his cause.. has been creating caos on whole earth but make sure not too many people dies so that's a good point. have protrayed china good but many country so corrupted that you will feel like he is talking about some chinese empror era..... I read upto last means you can also read just skip through chapter whenever is is acting like jesus on earth and talking about chinese culture...
Honestly I was surprised while reading this. I started reading just to get some tokens from the site and was planning to at most skim it but it caught my interest. It's a fairly fun little novel to read with an OP and decently intelligent protagonist and some light comedy.
The protagonist is a ever horny (yet not controlled by it) dragon with a weird intelligent creature living inside his body that gradually transforms his body according to some experiment by a super advanced civilization, but it's clear it has nothing good in store for the protagonist after his uses are done.
He's acting in line with how a dragon should act, c*cky, arrogant, lustful, loving wealth and valuing face more than a thousand chinese ever could, yet still able to keep some sense and rationality, a lot of these things are actually caused by something akin to instinct, like getting an insane urge to push beautiful females down or to gather and sleep on treasure. He discards his humanity for real, embracing his new identity as a god-like lizard and he doesn't have any real qualms about it.
This novel is pretty much made up of going back to earth to search for energy sources and for resources for his town/future divine kingdom and gathering faith from earth by playing around as a supernatural being and then the bigger part where he's in the other world and focuses on faith building which includes kingdom/city building and getting subordinates and political relationships. Later on a struggle with the gods that has partly already started will take the main light and even further on I bet the advanced civilization will be part of it.
I like how he's ruthless and doesn't get too involved emotionally. He stays quite faithful to his character setting of acting like a dragon should. His focus is and will always be to attain godhood and become the strongest, everything else is secondary and he can abstain from his desires if necessary. It's amusing how things often go back to sleeping with beautiful creatures, recently he even had some fun with an unicorn while transformed into one (dragons can transform into any race and see the beauty of any female, no matter the race). He will actively trick people to get his ways and I've honestly not seen him care about any of the characters more than as a tool or underling, even his harem members are just his property, he doesn't truly love or care about any of them, not even the most powerful one, I'm not sure if he'll ever get into a real relationship but boy does he get laid.
The main issue I have with this are two things. The first is earth. He goes back there every now and then for a while for various goals and honestly you can feel a lot of veiled racism. It's actually nothing that heavy compared to lots of chinese novels out there, but it's still there, mainly in the form of bigoted and prejudiced thoughts about other countries. President trump boy couldn't be more accurate though and he was hilarious, but then he turned serious and we never see that playful s*upid president side anymore. Of course the author set things up so that he could stir up chaos in USA and japan, especially japan while also throwing a few stray punches at korea. Still, it's veiled and not straightforward. In a way, it's actually a pretty accurate representation of what might happen. All in all, it's a minor annoyance, because the protagonist doesn't actually care about china. The author throws a few freebies at them but nothing big, to him china is just another country and he scams them as well to some extent. Sure, china takes a fairly big part in the story but not too much. Japan and china actually seems to end up joining up due the protagonist, which made me hella surprised, the author wants to pin culture against culture or perhaps more apt to say religion and mythology against religion/mythology to get more divinity, so it seems that related countries will end up joining hands. Some people said he just acts in the amazon jungle which is BS, he first ended up there but quickly left the jungle and from the second time on, he will screw around with all countries in the world.
Then to my second main gripe about this story, inconsistencies. The author is one of, if not THE worst, at keeping consistent. The people talking about world building mustn't have read too much or closely. First of all, the world is kinda dull, so is the power system and it hardly makes sense at all. There's little world building or actual explanations to speak of. Everything is quite simple as well, I guess that also makes it easy to read. Well, I lost count on how many times the author contradicted himself. First, he claims that faith can be earned on earth while still there and it actually happens, then he experiments on his next visit to earth and realizes that no, it's impossible. But it's possible for it to pass to the other world. Also, he claims the power on earth isn't there, then says it is, and somehow his spells work perfectly and no mention is made of why he can regain his energy reserves while on earth. When he goes to earth for some wasabi, he suddenly starts causing major chaos and all of a sudden he's not there for wasabi alone but a stable supply chain. An enemy mentioned someone's name as the one who betrayed her, but the next chapter she claims she doesn't know the name of the one who betrayed her and the name previously mentioned was someone unrelated. Author claims his divine authority reaches 100km around the city and he can perceive everything there all the time, even the movements of grass, but 20 chapters later he can only perceive 50km and it gets blurry towards the edges of this radius. Just a few I can remember. Overall, this story can be very confusing and random. The author explains a lot of stuff but ends up saying nothing of substance and most plot developments are clearly pulled right out of where the sun doesn't shine. I have never seen an author so bad at keeping notes and planning ahead, couldn't be clearer he's winging everything.
Overall, I give this a 4/5. I actually think it's more like 3.5/5 for enjoyment I derived but can't give half ratings and I don't want to lower the score even more and give it a 3/5. To be perfectly honest, I am starting to lose interest as of recently. I find the story's potential has been used up already and the author's failure to make the intelligent brain AI creature (kinda system like) a fun character and the MC becoming more and more rigid/serious/boring just ruins things. Sure, cool with a dragon but at this point it's starting to feel like a one-trick pony and that I know what to expect. It's fairly low-level writing tbh. Good to waste some time but certainly not anything close to a masterpiece.
i haven't read much yet
love a MC that doesn't get nerfed 3 seconds into power
(yet)
only problem is the MC talks like a Young Master, hopefully that doesn't last or at least doesn't get a bunch of fanboys/girls getting a hardon, encouraging the Young Master Dragon attitude but ya know, "Dragons Pride" so.. eh...
edit - kinda getting a bit cringe now, MC keeps talking about making kids with everything he lays his eyes on like some kind of horny 12 year old
edit - kinda getting a bit worried, MC was Chinese, novel is Chinese, MC does stuff on earth, tag that says nationalism, really worried its going to turn into all countries attack MC except china and china ruling the world China numbah 1 all prays peaceful justice seeking china numba1
also since that tag I was looking at the others and they are also concerning
i really hope this doesn't turn into Alpha Male God Sleeping with the "Flower" of each race and "Conquering" untouchables Goddess and sh*t like that
these authors have a history of adding that stuff for views because it attracts the horny neckbeards of their respective country
edit - literally next chapter and the title is "Putting the United States of America in the Palm of your Hands
jesus f*cking christ if he doesn't also attack other countries im dropping this
- yeah kinda went to angry sleep and decided to just drop the novel, even if he does attack the other countries its probably not gonna make it better, just a bunch of "Non Magic Earth Must Bow To My Dragon Penis"
Okay, I normally dont write reviews, no matter how much I love a story as long as I see that its gotten traction, for example the novel "Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?" I absolutely ADORE, but I didnt write a review since it would just get drowned by everyone elses. But this story is different so I decided to make a little review as of now.
Okay first of all, I love this story. It isnt for everyone but I definitely think that this story should be getting more positive traction than it is. The MC is pretty smart, not really a genius, but he definitely isnt s*upid. He is pretty adaptable which is nice since he isnt the kind of MC to give huge bias to humans and because of that make bad decisions. I cant say how many times Ive read a story where the MC is a demon or something, and they overly bias humans or their human morals even though theyre basically a god of destruction. He is ruthless, and I LOVE IT. He still has some human morals, but the instincts of a dragon take major precedence which is great.
The world building is very good, not perfect but definitely well above average. Although the story, so far, is EXTREMELY GOOD (in my opinion). I cannot give a perfect 10/10 YET, this might change in the future as more chapters come out so I can make sure the story doesnt just kill itself halfway through.
To keep this review from getting too long, Ill end it on this note. I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves a strong, badass and ruthless MC. It picks up moderately quickly but dont get 2 chapters in and drop it before you get a taste the story.
I will update this review if anything changes as I read more chapters since the translators are amazing and giving us daily releases. (Also the translations are very good grammar wise)
I was a bit turned off from the title, but I'm glad that I gave it a shot. This novel is pretty amusing, using misunderstanding-type comedy. Unlike others of this genre, it's not slap-stick because both sides of the misunderstanding are totally unaware that it is occurring. So far it's a slow, slice of life story.
The MC is an avid reader and collector of books. He uses his transported to another world opportunity to take over a mysterious book store so he can live out his self taught amateur psychologist / life coach ambition by recommending books based on his conversations and observations of the customers.
This book shop has a cheat where the MC can pull any book from Earth from the back shelves. While the MC selects a perfectly mundane Earth book to recommend to his customer, unknown to him, the customer receives a completely different, magic book with an outlandish title. The customers usually suspect that even though the MC looks like an ordinary person, he's maybe a high tier mage with a strange hobby. As long as they play along, he might help them. Or else!
The MC is completely oblivious, of course. He just thinks his customers' somewhat odd reactions are because they're ashamed of their personal issues. Perfectly normal.
Like I said, pretty amusing.
For me this novel is pretty good and thus I speedrunning the raw using MTL until the end of the novel.
Aside for my craving to read misunderstood MC series, the comedy pretty much hit me right in the nail.
The story start when Lin Jie our MC in this novel, wants to have every knowledges in the galaxy (I dunno what the right term for it beside that) and decided to summoning your not average genie that immediately granted by the genie... And here the MC transmigrated to the world of dark fantasy, opening the bookstore.
Many kinds of customers comes to the bookstore to borrowed, bought and consulted to our MC who have high understanding in the world of persuasion with our MC of course trying his best to help his dear customers, but unfortunately the customers and our MC share differences understanding resulting the conspiracy theories with our MC as the core of the conspiracies and all.
For me the plot is as I expected but still shocked me nevertheless, I don't want to get any detail about the story since it get count as the spoiler since the hints I am about to tell is a specific clue for the whole plot, so I hold myself to not write it but lemme tell you that the novel adapted the "Lovecraft" contents and also "FromSoftware" game series (Elden Rings, Dark Souls and Bloodborne most precisely), other than that all I can say is that... The MC is quite something...
And of course I will re-read it again after all the chapters get translated since you know how quirky MTL is and yes to me final score for the novel is 5 stars! See you again to my next review if you happened to bump on the same novel that I read from now on
"The road to Hell is paved with good intentions" a very fitting line for this novel. It starts as a light comedy about transmigrated dude (after making a wish to have all the books in world), who owns a bookstore and sell/lend a books to various of people. Close to barmen simulator, where he listens to his patrons, advice them about their problems and giving them a relevant classic book to read.
Sound innocent enough, but here is the catch, what he thinks he is giving is not what other receiving. Even a "The Little Prince" can turn into some groundbreaking summoning manual for void creatures and patrons becoming prominent figures with absolute trust in MC. Who is, btw, still thinks that he helping to resolve mundane problems by giving some philosophical books. Insane murderer for him is just a lonely uncle, who lost his family and in dire need for life advice. And helping him is the same as helping a good police officer, who lost an arm trying to save people.
But the more you read the more strange everything becomes, too many coincidences piling up, strange creatures coming to bookstore, strange things happening to patrons. Is the problem with bookstore, the books, owner himself or the patrons, is MC really this clueless or clearly understands what he is doing? And, to avoid spoilers, I want to say, that this novel heavily inspired by Bloodborne and Lovecraft, so you can guess the rest by yourself.
Pros:
Some good humor in the beginning.
Overall plot is interesting.
Interesting world (iron city surrounded by the fog inside the dream is not your everyday japan highschool).
Chaotic neutral MC is pretty fresh archetype.
I had fun trying to guess is MC really that clueless or not.
Cons:
There isn't a clear goal for where plot is going, MC doesn't want anything, world doesn't need to be saved and patrons wishes not interesting. So we see a lot of development, but to what ends is unknown till the very end.
Plot progression and plot resolution not really well connected, we read about one thing, but in the end barely any of this matters.
Misunderstanding joke is overstayed it's welcome, it is good, that novel is pretty short.
For me there was an interesting trope where is MC doesn't understand horrible consequences of his own actions, a lot like in Overlord. But in OW MC is basically pawn of his own subordinates. Here he is making his own decisions without some vital information and it leads to the things MC hates the most. And he is still happy for what he is done. Quite scary imo
It was alright. The last 1/4 of the novel was a bit weaker and I wish the ending would bring more closure, but I kinda liked it.
Be warned that there are A LOT of misunderstandings: MC is a regular bookstore owner who genuinely wants to sell regular books, but because of the eldritch mumbo-jumbo his customers leave the place with stuff like "Blood sacrifices for dummies", so if you're not a fan of this trope, better move along, it's played hard here, though I did not find it that annoying.
Side characters are nothing to write home about, but the world itself was interesting and I liked the lovecraftian vibes.
I would say this is somewhere between 3.5 and 4, but I am feeling generous today.
Maybe 3.5 stars for me.
Honestly it's pretty good OP shopkeeper novel, however the misunderstanding/misinterpreting trope gets pretty boring after a while.
At first you laugh at some of the silly misundestandings between the MC and everyone else, but at some time it becomes tedious and obviously nonsense since the MC is supposed to be some kind of prodigy/genius and is amazing at "reading people" but even after learning about the magic and stuff, still misunderstands literally everything everyone else says...
Kind of a shame really, the world itself is pretty great, the magic and powers also look interesting, but all of that seems like an afterthought, sometimes barely or badly explained, and the misunderstandings are the main focus.
At this point I just want to see the all the setup be revealed and be done with it.
The premise is amusing for a good amount of time. The NU description is accurate. Almost too much so.
Isekai'd bookstore owner unwittingly hands out demonic books of eldritch power to his patrons while spouting generic self-help life advice. Patron gain power, prestige, or coincidentally solve their lifetime crisis as a result. Patron speculate owner is a deity and form a cult around him. Patron gives owner a gift that 'actually' helps increase his own personal power, though he might not realize it. Repeat for new patron. Over and over.
The hiccup is that the patrons often know each other, and sometimes are enemies, so the interactions between them can get interesting. I was thoroughly amused for the first 150 chapters or so, then I started getting less interested as more characters (who aren't as interesting) get fed into the formula. I might go back to binge read a bunch of chapters later when I'm in the mood
I get it, CN novels like their little misunderstandings! Nobody understands anything in this novel and everyone goes out of their way to misinterpret things and speak in riddles between themselves that make them misunderstand each other further.
At a certain point, you have to solve a misunderstanding - that doesn't happen here. MC just chills all day, talks random nonsense to his customers (by misinterpreting their problems), hands a demonic book (without his knowledge) and continues being ignorant while every danger solves itself without MC's knowledge or he somehow solves it by misunderstanding something and though most of it is pure luck.
If you like this sort of story, you'll probably grow tired of it, because I just described the usual repetitive cycle of every encounter here.
I've completed this series and gotta say, albeit kinda repetitive, the story is okay and entertaining enough for me, but the ending flopped hard.
We got the clueless bookstore owner, Lin Jie, from the possibly normal Earth, transmigrated to a world with magic and superpower everywhere. He had this magical bookstore where he could pull every book available in the whole world, and recommend it to his customers. Here's the catch tho : the book changes according to the reader, and Boss Lin is unaware of that.
Suppose he gives a customer "1000 Cooking Recipes for Beginner", said customer instead receives "Sacrificial Offering for The Gods" thereby creating misunderstanding where all customers thinking Boss Lin is an omniscient being giving forbidden knowledge just like throwing cabbages.
The whole 400ish chapters is actually a good read, whereas the few last chapters, the last arc, were utter garbage. Very rushed ending, like it was axed or something. Overall a good read tho, so gives it a try if you have nothing else to read
Protagonist is transmigrated to another world that appears similar to 80s-90s earth with some slight differences and spends a few years just running his bookshop without meeting anything else supernatural. He is a kind person who only wants to sell books and gives life advice as a hobby.
He occasionally has customers, who after sweet talking them with vague fortune teller style life tips, he sells them books that to him appear to be books from our planet but to the customer are eldritch tomes of OPness. The entity behind the bookshop makes him not know this.
The customers misunderstand his vague life tips to be mysterious omniscient powers due to them not believing he could just be a normal person as he has tomes of such power and is so easily giving them away. And the tomes are always useful to the person to seal the impression.
As of around chapter 200 he is aware of the supernatural in the world but is still ignorant of his customers being supernatural themselves. He interprets things in the most positive light when he hears about them.
He has gained a very high level power due to a lucky gift from a customer, and his own kind personality, and as such doesn't consider any of the supernatural events he has been involved with to be as impressive as they actually are.
Repetitive.
The plot repeats the same scenes again and again, with a few variations. The main character has a reactive personality, never acting out on their own desires to move the plot forward. That is left up to the author's use of misunderstandings, having the main cast constantly interpret all of the main character's actions into what is most convenient for the plot.
The world building is purely exposition mixed with meaningless bits of information to fluff it up. It is only told right before it's needed, interrupting the flow of the story. It's unnatural and jarring.
The introduction of the power system at the start is poorly balanced, so anything below Destructive (the second highest level) feels like nothing worth mentioning. The novel attempts to give more weight to the lower two ranks, but that feeling never leaves, seeing as no one of importance is at said two lower levels, and anything below the highest rank is overshadowed by the main character's own power.
The comedy was the same misunderstandings. Every character's rationale is a joke, all the antagonistic characters appeared forced and lacking. I got to where I am due to the initial hook and premise, but I am now leaving this review unfulfilled.
Very entertaining book about a bookstore owner who is misunderstood as being omnipresent and all-knowing. The story is centered around his store, and the books he gives to his clients being mysteriously transmuted from normal books from our world into magical books of forbidden and powerful knowledge.
What makes the story work is that the MC does have reasons to continue his misunderstandings. He isn't just an ostrich with his head in the sand. He was transferred from our world into the new world with no explanation on the setting, and most people in the world are ignorant of the true powers behind the other world. He also doesn't want to reveal that he's not originally from the world, so he gets all his knowledge from news which also covers up the fantastical events happening with fake explanations. As the novel progresses, it doesn't stay stuck in the same formula of bumpkin not knowing what's going on, but does still use misunderstandings as a source of comedy. It's nowhere near as forced as the willful ignorance by the MC in "To Be a Power in the Shadows", and is closer to "Overlord" in terms of how the MC is treated by the other characters, although the MC is not aware of the misunderstandings.
Besides the comedy, what really makes the novel work is the action horror. The author does a good job at writing fight scenes that are not commonly seen in webnovels. The author leans heavy into horror for the non-MC action sequences with gore and fantastical monsters. There are several characters that are patrons of the bookstore that are fleshed out and help drive the plot. The side characters help keep the book from becoming one-dimensional. I think it's well worth the read if you are a fan of comedy and don't mind gore in your action.
The story revolves around an MC who has been isekai-ed to an alternative universe where magic, gods, lots of mysterious things occur. The world itself is dark and cruel and the author doesn't hesitate to paint its cruelty at times. The MC becomes a shopkeeper of books which contain horrible magic and secrets to which he is unaware of. He is contracted by a demon to run a bookshop of these books, however, he's unaware of the outside world's magic and all that stuff (shockingly). MC just decided not to explore the world he isekai-ed in apparently. He is also unaware of the secrets the books he sells which autocorrects? Into different Earth novels when he reads them but changes into something else to his customers. And then everyone thinks he's some super god or some bullshit.
MC: IF you like OP MC's with a lot of people misunderstanding him, like To Be a Power in the Shadows, and the Villain Wants to Live, you will enjoy this. However, his character - as in personality and so on, lacks almost any growth for the 184 chapters I have read. The story focuses more on side characters and their growth, which is interesting and probably one of the only good points of this novel.
Story: You read the story for the side characters and the world building, there's no clear cut goal yet and there are just hints of slice of life.
The translators update this story VERY slowly and also have a ridiculous price tag for reading ahead (notice the tag Money Grubber in this page), you might as well just go read Villain Wants to Live which updates way more faster and also better prices. But its a fun read so enjoy it.
So, the premise is basically this really oblivious guy who loves books ends up making a deal with a demon or something and isekai's into another world with supernatural elements as a bookstore owner. The story is filled with misunderstandings about the MC as he goes about meeting super OP characters and helping them in questionable ways. Also his books are weird. That's all I'm going to say about the plot, read it if this sounds interesting to you.
But I will mention some elements that lead me to choose this score.
First of all, I really enjoyed the novel in the beginning, and I still think of the novel fondly. It had a great hook, comedic moments, and I was eager to learn more about the world with the MC. Hearing about the religions, greater beings, and power systems was incredibly interesting for me.
Unfortunately, the MC wasn't very eager to learn about the world and so the novel didn't focus on it. I'm sure the story will explore the world the more you read, but it's taking far too slow (and I'm saying this as someone who enjoys slow-paced novels).
This brings out one of my pet peeves about misunderstandings, and it's how oblivious the MC is. Sure if the MC has other qualities that make him an interesting character, I don't care. But if the MC is a bumbling oblivious and unfazed by everything simpleton... I don't know man, it's just not cool. The MC doesn't seem to be interested in anything other than reading, and so his attitude towards life is in the back seat. On top of that, while knowing he is in a world with magic and other stuff, he is unable to come to the conclusion that any of his customers are supernatural beings, EVEN THOUGH IT'S INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS.
Characters are good, we're still learning about them. And in my opinion there's way too many characters that we keep switching perspective to. I can't remember who is who and what each of them are doing so it can feel a little frustrating.
I see a future harem coming, even though it's not the type of harem where everyone is romantically involved with the MC. More like a harem-vibe where there are too many female characters who are obsessed with MC. I don't mind it though.
Don't worry about the story being a simple dumb guy surrounded by females. MC is enjoyable enough to read --despite my few nitpicks, and there's a very diverse cast from young to old, male and female, a wide variety of races and divisions, religions (fictional), and personalities.
Story is really repetitive. There are many plots going on in the story depending on which character we're following. The MC has two major ones, getting stronger (accidentally) while engaging in the magic of the world and 'helping' others. The helping others plot is the repetitive part of the story and also the unique part of the story. So while repetitiveness can be irksome to a few, I'm used to it and don't view it as a major negative factor.
I'd say give the novel a go, the first 20 chapters should do in setting your expectations for the novel.
Well, the novel is basically like, some random dude goes inside the bookstore, the MC misunderstood that his customer has some mundane problem like their lover cheating or something.
He proceeds to give some advice that his customer absolutely misunderstands, and then the MC smoothly uses that opportunity to sell or let them borrow books.
The customer would see a completely different book from the eyes of the MC, the book would unleash its powers then another round of misunderstandings will occur. Something like the customer thinking that the MC is a powerful and mysterious being ect.
Then the customer will proceed to use the book to cause chaos, and repeat.
And in the middle of all that chaos is the MC, just there selling books.
It may sound repetitive but I tell you..... it is lol
But it's different his time! Believe me, but if you don't then believe the ratings~~
But if you look at it from the perspective or the protagonist then it's kinda fun and humorous, but if you look at it from the perspective of the other characters then you would find that it's actually more twisted than you thought it'd be. And while you're nearing the end, it gets darker and darker. I haven't finished it though, I just stopped for a moment to leave a review. So bye bye
This is a misunderstanding novel. However, the plot doesn't suffer from repetition what so ever. It keeps moving forward which is more than what a few novels couldn't do.
The general story is about a guy who has a bunch of eldritch books which he thinks are regular books, but for the denizens of this world they're like the holy scripture of cultivation.
The power level of this world seems legit so far. There hasn't been any new realms of cultivation appearing out of thin air. Though cultivation is a 'loose' term in this aspect. Honestly, the real selling point of this is the unique power systems hinted and developed. Ex: You got a Bloodline, Faith, Sword and Black/White Magic Systems.
If what I mentioned above doesn't ease your worries, then know this is unlike a CN. This one reads more on the lines of a western mix with subtle JP tropes. However, you may get a little annoyed with how 'dense' our MC is. Though, when he talked Old Li through a blood sacrifice ritual... while in another room.... that was golden comedy.
Rate 4.6/5
I'm really impressed by author s mind. He must has a hive mind to make this misunderstanding story so hilarious and somewhat logical.
Really enjoyable to read. The number of male and female characters are somewhat equal. No bs romance or dumbass death seeking characters. Most characters have decent personality not like those twisted mind degraded Japanese or Chinese characters I've often seen. Although the misunderstanding is somewhat too repetitive but I still make me laugh from time to time so I can bear with it.
MC gives off a chill vibe but still has everything under control effortlessly which is the thing I like most in this novel.
I'm kinda skeptical at first since it is a misunderstanding genre and I'm not very fond of this genre since it requires a very skilled arthur to make it readable or else it will be a story that have a bunch of s*upid low iq people hangout with each other doing cringe stuffs under the protection of plot amor, and the summary isn't very appealing at all. But now I glad I picked this novel since I was too bored.
The first few chapters may seem very unappealing (it took me like 3 days to read just 4 chapters, that show how boring it can be) but if you keep reading I will sure become much better
pretty much misunderstandings, the novel - without eminence in shadow's rampant autism to tie it down
and instead of a thirty-year old wizard that gained magical wisdom via bashing his head into trees... who's subsequently isekai'd after running buck naked into a semi, demon god's lackey stars a chinese cultural historian. said chinese man happens to be whisked away to fantasy-land himself, but for one reason or another gets to keep his book collection.... and much more upon that, by making a deal with some unknown entity under the guise of running a bookstore. basically, my dream, only realised!
anyhow, the guy makes a living as the proprietor of this run-down 'bookstore' - only whenever he recommends a book to someone, what he sees on the cover and what they see differs dramatically. the books he's loaning out actually have wacky eldritch powers built into them, and he starts unknowingly gaining a reputation as this machiavellian incarnation of the world's god
it's a bit odd sometimes as the world's basically got the same computers and communication tech as we do yet is still somehow stuck looking like 19th century europe, but it's a decent read and I might go back to it when more chapters are out
This novel is entertaining. The pacing is great and the situations and dialogues have an adequate amount of humour.
But, I always try to point out the good, the bad and the ugly parts of the novel. So let's check it:
The Good:
The setting and world building develop nicely throughout the novel. There is no significant info-dump. It feels quite nice how the world of the supernatural slowly opens as the chapters progress.
Lin Jie - our MC - is a genuinely good person. He intends to scam his "clients". But always in a way that ultimately benefits them.
The Bad:
The life lessons dolled out by the MC are mundane. His persuasion tactics and scamming mind games aren't as refined as the author portrays them to be.
The misunderstandings risen from the above are more often than not a real stretch, needing a good amount of mental gymnastics from the reader to accept them.
The ugly:
Even after experiencing the supernatural our MC remains oblivious. It is endearing at the beginning, but you must suspend your disbelief to accept it at later chapters.
Good comedy novels are basically nonexistent. I'm really not the demon god's lackey is one of they few good novels out there that's hilarious. Bonus points? It's a misunderstanding type novel, my favorite type.
Trafford's trading club tries to execute something similar to this novel, but this novel just blows it out of the water. Well, what's the difference? Trafford's trading club involves a bland, OP protagonist, but the difference here is that the MC is a bland piece of bread with absolutely no personality, paired along a conveniently OP maid that does all of the actual planning and work for him. The result is an episodic wish fulfillment story with nothing much of note.
I'm really not the demon god's lackey features a great deal of setup of scenarios, which involves world building, dialogue, monologuing, and overall nice pacing and descriptions of the environments and battles when necessary. All of the arcs aren't brute forced since the MC's power deals with "knowledge, " rather than brute force power. As a result, he's got the ability to bring power to other people, but not make himself directly powerful. As a result, the story arcs don't get resolved with just a "oh haha he beat everyone in one punch."
Story arcs and characters also link to each other. There's a continuous plot, and characters from previous story arcs play a role in the coming story arcs, rather than them just being discarded away or having a token mention here and there. As a result of this continuous story, the characters actually have a personality, as they have a role past their initial introductory arc. There's a great deal of time in the novel where it focuses on the side characters, since they too, need characterization in order for the story to make sense.
Of course, this all gets compounded with great comedy. The misunderstandings are so much funnier since there's so much buildup for each one, and the execution is amazing. While not being too unrealistic, but also being great fun, the comedy is spot on. The monologuing, dialogue, and characters make the comedy that much more interesting.
There is of course, just like trafford's trading club, eventually an assistant that the MC takes in. The difference here is that the MC in this novel is training the assistant, and not much of help currently, while in trafford's trading club, she's literally a convenient plot device to make the story flow smoothly and have the MC go unimpeded in whatever he wants to do.
Just a cut above the rest of the comed novels out there. Prose, grammar, pacing, and story are well above average for a webnovel. Kudos to the translator as well.
I highly recommend Tilea's worries or Running away from the hero if you like this novel. You won't be disappointed
An extremely fun read, as long as you don't take it too seriously. It's fun to see the MC make vague fortune cookie sayings and have the side characters jump to conclusions from them. The MC is pretty much an idiot, nothing more than a snake-oil salesman and late-night fortune teller with an overinflated ego, and not sure if it's intentional by the author (I'd like to hope it is), likes to treat extremely simple and obvious ideas as if they are something profound. The leaps of logic that characters make are truly laughable but it's part of what makes this novel charming.
Edit: Although I enjoyed what I read of this novel, by chapter 65 I was fed up with the author's rambling and over-explaining of the obvious. The MC's obliviousness and pride in being a walking fortune cookie got old quickly. I gave it 5 more chapters then called it quits
I think there's not enough chapters yet for a thorough review, but so far I really like this novel. It's an easy read and the MC is really cool. I really like MCs who are naive and promotes misunderstandings lol.
Anyway it's probably not for serious readers whose looking for smart side characters cause the MC will probably solve everything through his misunderstandings.
And I'm looking forward to more plottwists down the road, but please no romcom, I would have to stop reading if that happens huhu
Edit:
Stopped reading, I feel like it got boring real quick. It's too wordy with the same thing happening each time. I don't mind the misunderstandings but if it could only just directly get to the point instead of reiterating everything already mentioned before. And MC should atleast slowly become more aware but it looks like he'll stay like that until he unknowingly converts everyone to be believers.
The world building and characters in this novel is great! Every characters and their roles introduced are oftentimes significant and interesting. I've always loved it when a book incorporate the caste system and uses it effectively.
The author commit foreshadowing excellently. The end point of every plot turns may not shock the readers, but it will still gives one an unexpected feeling of sorta not knowing how it got there. Although, the ending feels a bit—just a tiny bit—rushed, it is still ended perfectly and within expectations in my opinion.
I picked up this novel due to the title and after reading this, I just feel like there's no more perfect title than this lol I wouldn't mind another book on Boss Lin as the ending is quite open.
[collapse]
Finally, the brain tonic used in this book can probably drown everyone in the world. There are times where my suspension of disbelief couldn't hold on. Still funny though
Man this is entertaining, it's well written, has great characters and an interesting world.
I love the MC and his uniqueness, although the disconnect between his understaning of things and everyone else's might potentially get old after a while.
I would give 4.5 stars right now, and I think it will keep the quality all the way to the end.
I want more.
Edit: It did get old after a while, I'll take it down to 4 stars.
It seems like nothing can go wrong, and I'm not very excited about the current "arc".
Also (spoilers for where I'm at)Spoiler
What happened to the sister of Muen's assistant? Did she just die by having her brain exploited for the tower? Did the author forget? I cared about that, and it hasn't been mentioned in far too long even though the culprit has been "defeated".
the trick is that while the MC think he is helping random normal people, such as: a bothered young lady in distress, a nice old man, retired military's men and more by giving them some guidance to help them relax and recommending a nice random book that seem suitable to help, like "the little prince".
While in reality he speak with the top powerhouse such as a high level black magician, one of the seven knights who own the great demon sword and a young and promising hunter who belong to the 1 percent of rich people in the world and the books he give them are actually taboo books such as "Flesh and Blood Gospel" and "Corpse Devouring Sect's Rites and Customs", all of which has the capability to influence the world situation and because he dare give away such books like they are normal books and let them borrow and buy them like in a normal bookshop the people get the wrong impression of him and think of him as a high level entity that take a leisure and neutral stand.
Most of the story is based on the misunderstanding of both sides and how each conversation the MC is having is misinterpreted and result in each person having his own speculation and gains without even understanding that his world didn't manage to get to the other side. The series follow after the MC and the misunderstanding he create and how everything is being influence as a result.
Although I don't know which is the original... I personally like I Really Am Not the Lord of Demon better. The story is much better. The only possitives of this book is that there isn't nationalism, and that it has less filler of side character story (so far). I really tried to give this a try... 63 chapters... but I gave up. I was honestly not that interested since I read the other book first. The two books' premises are literally identical, a unkowingly op bookstore owner that has a totally different view from what their customers see, and thinks themselves as mostly normal, and thinks there is no magic. Although this book was also interesting, comparisons hurt... I also disliked the writing style of this book, as it felt written by a new author, with the somewhat... rigid? writing style. This made me less interested in the story due to the way the story elements were written/told. I have trouble remembering and identifying the characters in this novel other than the MC and 3 other side chars. The antagonists? They were a blur to me. The organizations / groups also had me confused other than the Truth Union and the other good one that was paired with it. The other ones... had me confused for the most part.
Now I read a lot, making me pretty picky about stories due to the amount I read, so, frankly, u might like this story. As I in fact did enjoy it a little. It just wasn't a story that could make me stay.
The story is a magnificent myth. At the beginning, readers may feel bored looking at the endless misunderstanding between Lin Jie and his surrounding. But these are the mysteries, the foundation of the story.
Why the supposedly harmless books from Lin Jie's bookstore become ridiculously overpowered instruments in the hand of others without his knowledge? Why they see different titles on the same book? Why Lin Jie's books could always answer his visitor's needs? Why Lin Jie could always avoid others' malicious tricks by doing next to nothing? Why all the fortunate coincidences always happen around Lin Jie? Who is Lin Jie, and who transported him to another world?
The answers are in the last dozens of chapters which perfectly rounded everything into one of the most satisfying ending I've seen. I could give you the spoiler, but it would definitely ruin your reading experiences. This is one of those mystery-themed stories that would be best read chapter-by-chapter. You should enjoy the comedic build-up ahead of the macabre ending of the mystery.
This book is recommended for people who are in love with mystery slice-of-life and antihero protagonists in magical fantasy setting, plus able to tolerate some gore and tragedy. Extremely not recommended for people who seek romances, fast pace stories, ideal protagonist, or perfect happy ending.
Don't read Don't realy read this shit
The story doesn't really go anywhere, but it's more of a slice of life novel anyway. I enjoy it a lot, and it makes for very easy reading. It's not some great epic, or amazing story though. It's very character focused rather than plot focused, which is nice, as the plot is definitely the weak point of this story.
Give it a read, but don't expect it to be great, and it won't disappoint you.
Thanks for not reading!!
