3 Chapter 3 Going Out

David ran to the window and glanced out. He saw a motorcycle parked downstairs.

It's body was as green as grass. It looked much bigger than the usual motorcycle, and at a glance, it had very good quality.

If he was in the past, David would have wanted to drive a motorcycle around on the streets, but now, he had no such feeling.

Due to the zombies rampage, motorcycles were by no means a safe way of transportation.

"I can't ride a motorcycle for the time being."

"Sir, there is a small medical kit inside your military bag that is suitable for use now."

David hurriedly opened the bag, and with a thought, the box appeared.

It was a small square box, that was white with green stripes. He opened it with a light press. Inside were, bandages, hemostatic drugs, anti-inflammatory drugs, needles, and a bottle of red gel-like things.

[Commander's Medical Box (Squad Leader): Includes some common drugs that can handle simple injuries. Also includes a bottle of antiviral serum that can prevent zombie infection, as long as the subject is not dead.]

Note: (The common drugs are refreshed once every 24 hours. Antiviral serum gets refreshed once every 48 hours. The quantity cannot be superimposed).

Seeing the serum, David felt happy.

It was a good thing. Although he had yet to have any contact with the zombies outside, he knew that the biggest weapon a zombie had, was infection.

Once you are caught or bitten by a zombie, you will soon become a zombie yourself.

The serum was able to dispel the zombie virus, so there was hardly anything better for the end of days.

As for ordinary drugs, they were also very useful.

"Sir, these generic drugs may be common to others, but as the highest commander, they give you a 200% increase in recovery speed. You can now bandage your ankle."

David's ankle pain was a problem, because it prevented him from going out to fight, let alone look for gold and silver.

The medical kit had come at the right time. He took the medicine out and rubbed it on his ankle, then wrapped it with a bandage.

A cool soothing feeling came from his ankle, and he soon noticed that it was no longer so painful.

"Oh! This is really good."

David lifted his foot, and although he wasn't fully recovered, he was able to move around without support.

He had estimated that it would take at least a week to fully recover, but now he guessed that he would recover in one or two days.

"Is this black technology? Does it belong to the Red Alert System?"

"This is due to your special authority as commander."

David nodded and felt a sense of excitement deep in his heart.

When the end of the world comes, the system will undoubtedly make its appearance.

Now that his foot was no longer a big problem, he put on the uniform.

It fit nicely, and seemed to make David look more fit than he really was. His body was rather well, but the suit only made his athleticism stand out more.

David stood around one meter tall, and his muscles were very shapely, and his looks now could very well create a hormone blast.

"It's no wonder why they say that military uniforms are the best suits for men. It looks really good."

With the epaulettes on his shoulders, and his wide arms at his waist, and the army shoes he was wearing, David was leaking an aura of handsomeness and masculinity.

David wanted to collect some gold and silver so he could start mobilizing troops immediately, but he had to be very cautious.

According to the situation he had seen downstairs, the zombie's were definitely not good for people.

"I cannot be afraid. But I can't fight now due to my ankle. So until my ankle is fully recovered, I had better be careful."

He grabbed the revolver's handle with his hand, but a gun with only six bullets didn't give him any sense of security.

"I have to prepare more weapons."

He went to the kitchen, but he couldn't see anything that could be used as a heavy weapon. The biggest weapons that could be used for destruction, in the kitchen, were a chopper for chopping bones, and a Mongolian kitchen knife.

The chopper felt heavy in his hand, but he estimated that it didn't have much zombie killing power.

After searching around the house for a while, he found a one meter long steel pipe.

It was in the extra supplies from the previous renovation. David took out the knife and installed it on the end of the pipe. He also polished it until it was smooth and clean. After he had worked on it for close to an hour, it could finally be considered a temporary spear.

"Although the tip is a kitchen knife, it should work alright for now. I wonder if I can pierce through the skull of a zombie?"

David did not head out immediately. His ankle wasn't ready yet, and he also needed a bit of rest.

He rummaged around for some food, and soon found, 12 packs of instant noodles, four pounds of rice, a few dozen eggs, and a little sausage and mustard.

"You need to get some water, because in a while, the tap water could be contaminated."

Taking advantage of the water and electricity, David picked up a electric kettle and boiled twenty pots of water.

After a little while, he poured them into a bucket. He then placed the bucket inside the military bag, using up a bit of the space.

He boiled three packs of instant noodles, and added to four poached eggs and a sausage to it. David's meals had always been relatively large.

He used to eat instant noodles every day. But this time when he ate them, they tasted extra fragrant.

It could be because the end of the had come, and now people would be more easily satisfied.

After eating, David set the alarm clock on his phone to go off at 10 am.

As he lied in bed, he thought of his parents, and his sister. He missed them.

"I wonder how they are doing now? When I have the strength to leave, I must go and find them. Anyway, even if it's just to confirm they are alive."

As he thought of this, he couldn't help but regret a little. He was already getting a little heartless. But soon all thoughts were gone, he was asleep.

The alarm clock sounded at ten o'clock the next morning.

When David awakened, he sat in bed for a little while, then suddenly jumped out of bed and went to the window to look out.

Dilapidation, desolation, blood, and death.

The gloom of the world outside told him that everything he experienced yesterday was not a dream.

David was in a bad mood when Nana's voice sounded: "Good morning, sir."

"Morning, Nana."

"You ankle has basically recovered."

"Oh, really!" David realized he couldn't feel any pain from his foot. His face instantly brightened, relieving the dark mood.

"Reminding you, commander, to collect gold and silver as soon as possible, so that we can start the production of combat units, buildings, defenses, technologies, etc. You also need to unlock your next rank."

"Ok."

David took a deep breath to calm himself. He had never faced zombies before, but he knew he had to take this step, or he would never survive.

He had already thought about collecting gold and silver when he was lying in bed yesterday.

Gold and silver were mainly concentrated in two places, the first was a bank's vault, and second was in the jewelry stores inside a mall.

But he was incapable of opening the bank vault. Maybe one day when he built a tank, he could blow it open, but not right now.

The jewelry stores in mall's were the most prosperous and crowded places. Which meant there would be too many zombies for him to handle.

With his current strength, it would be impossible for him to enter any mall. In addition to bank vault's and jewelry stores, the only thing he could think of were residents' homes.

Modern woman had massive amounts of jewelry. Things like a ring could be a dozen grams, and things like necklace's and bracelet's could be dozen's of grams.

So if he could find at least a diamond ring, it would make it worth searching a house.

Nana explained a few things.

One gram of silver was equal to 0.1 gold coin, and one gram of gold was equal to one gold coin.

Also one carat of diamonds was equal to ten gold.

A one carat diamond was 0.2 grams, and so one gram of diamond was actually equal to fifty gold!

In addition, things like gems, and jade, were equally valuable or even more expensive than gold.

If he was lucky, he could find enough gold and silver from one family, that he could even start mobilizing troops.

Although the level of the soldiers he could mobilize right now were weaker than chickens, they would still be a great help.

The only problem was, every house had a security door. And it would be rather difficult to break in.

However, David knew that a couple shared the room on the floor above him. Every day they would drink, yell, and make a lot of noise. It was hard to sleep most of the time. But maybe their door would be open now. It was worth a try.

David moved to the door. He listened to see if there was any movement in the hallway, and after confirming there wasn't anybody out there, he quietly shoved the door open.
