1 Epilogue

What was it my mother told me to do if I ever get stuck? Come up for air.....

As I sank deeper into the abyss of the ocean off of my home island I could feel the ice cold winter water on my skin and my body sinking deeper and deeper. My ice cold lips open trying to breath for air but no air came. I was drowning I had been on the cliff side and had fallen in and I couldn't come up for air.....

I could feel the waves crashing above me, I could hear the children on the beach far out in the distance chatting. I could feel the fishes eyes on me. Even when I can't come up for air I am still looked at like I am an alien. The truth is I am well I am a homeless mistake I wasn't supposed to be born even me, a 6 year old could tell my mother thought I was a mistake too....

I could feel my scrawny body sinking, my legs felt like they had weights on them I kept trying to kick to get up to the surface to come up for air but I couldn't, I could feel my little 6 year old arms waving around trying to save me, I could feel my mouth open like a fish but quickly shut, I could feel my eyes slowly start to shut, I could see my hair floating around me, I could feel my heart fill up with water to start beating slower as I tried to come up for air...

I could also feel a rough surface, a rock! I quickly gripped onto it and pulled myself up. As I coughed up water I could only think of one thing: what would have happened if I didn't come up for air?
