Not Everything Is Easy

"Step on air like it was water…." Yuki was having a hard time understanding what exactly Rukia meant because she had walked on water in her previous life with her psychokinesis. So it was a bit easier to understand, but the thought of taking two steps to reach the tree was something she did not understand.

Shaking her head, arms, and then her legs, Yuki pushed her soul power and chakra to her feet and went to step forward as if she was 'stepping on air'.

*Bam!*

"Ow!" Yuki cried out as she rubbed her nose. "Rukia, that didn't work!"

Jiraiya almost choked as he held back his laughter. The sight of Yuki raising her little foot to step on air only to trip over her own legs was a funny sight. But he also let out a sigh seeing that she was not able to do everything with ease. This meant she still had room to grow.

"It's not that it didn't work. I could feel that you grabbed a bit of air with your foot at the start. It's just that you are losing your concentration when it comes to holding it. You have to keep that foothold strong, or you won't be able to continue." Rukia tried her best to explain. She was starting to think she was not very good at teaching people.

Yuki pursed her lips and tried again. This time she could feel her foot grabbing hold of the air, but not even a second later, she was eating dirt again. She did understand one thing, though, and that was when mixing her soul power, and chakra was not very easy. While it flowed through her body just fine, it was a different story when trying to put it to practical use.

That day Yuki spent hours doing the same thing over and over. Her determination to complete the task at hand was something she had always been good at. Otherwise, she would never have lasted through her elder sister's training.

"Okay, stop." Jiraiya, who had been watching from the side this entire time, walked over and placed his palm on Yuki's head. He realized something when watching her just now. The little girl had a one track mind. Once she started working on something, she would only think of that one thing and continue trying to accomplish that task. For her, personal growth was not good. "You should eat something and rest a bit. Repeating the same thing over and over will only result in you becoming frustrated and getting even further away from your goals. Take a step back, examine what you were doing and try to come up with other ways to fix the issue at hand. Only by taking that step back will you be able to see the bigger picture."

Yuki looked up at Jiraiya with her scratched up face that had smudges of dirt all over it, with an expression that looked as if she had been jolted by electricity. She began to wonder if this was the reason why her psychokinesis never got any stronger. She would practice with it trying to make it grow stronger, but she always repeated the same thing over and over.

Now that she heard Jiraiys words, it was as if a realization of how stupid she was slammed into her like a ton of bricks. She nodded her head and gave a self defeated smile. "Thank you. I feel like my eyes have been opened to why I always had a hard time progressing in certain things. It is like I gain tunnel vision and only see the result I should have and not how to get to it. Always repeating the same motions over and over."

"Mmm… Just repeating things will not allow you to grow stronger. From what I was seeing, you were having a hard time mixing the two powers together. This will take time. But this is also good because it will allow you to grow. Take your time and slowly progress. There is no need to rush. You are already very good at chakra control, much better than many of this jonin in Konoha. But that does not mean you can beat them in a fight yet. You will need to learn how to use weapons and how to make use of all your powers combined. You may have a head start among your peers, but you still have a long way to go before you can master it all. We will work on your chakra and soul power fusion for a few hours a day. But most of your day will now consist of learning taijutsu and ninjutsu. You will also need to learn how to use throwing weapons, talismans, and even swords. Especially your sword. We can not allow it to be a decoration at your side." Jiraiya said while ruffling Yuki's hair.

"Rukia said she will help with my sword training as well." Yuki heard Rukia say this when Jiraiya mentioned sword training.

"Okay, we will do both. It will be good to learn to mix your sword into your taijutsu as well." After saying this, Jiraiya began going over a schedule he had written up for her training. She had to go to bed early and rise early with a mandatory eight hours of sleep. This was one of the most important parts of her training. On top of that, she was to increase her food intake to keep herself at a healthy weight. With basic exercises as well as technique training, her day was almost full, but Jiraiya made sure there were a few hours a day where she would be able to do her own thing and was banned from training. She was still young, so she could not get any field experience, but that was fine. Jiraiya wanted her to grow strong but also still have time to be a kid. He did not really know what her previous life was like so he did not know how she would handle killing someone. But that will come in time.
