5 The Past (2)

Army Headquarters, Briefing room.

Ivy stood there like a statue, not being able to believe a word that she heard in the last ten minutes. It took just ten minutes to shatter everything she knew and believed in.

In these ten minutes since she was presented in front of the army general, she learnt that the loving aunt of hers who was trying to play the role of a supportive mother-like figure for her was, in reality, the person who had conspired, planned and played a major role in her mother's accident,

Just because her mother had finally secured evidence of her misdeeds,

Her aunt, Olivia Crompton was born to her mother's uncle which made the two of them cousins, when she was little both of her parents died in a mission,

Ivy's grandfather felt sorry for her as his younger brother's orphaned daughter, and took her into his home and adopted her as his own daughter and also loved her like one.

Both her grandparents loved Olivia as their own daughter and indulged her more than their own biological daughter as they wanted to make sure that she does not yearn for her own parents, but in all this, they forgot to make time of their own daughter and made her feel left out, as if she was the outsider in the family.

For them, it was easier to love and cherish Olivia with her soft and demure nature as opposed to Ava due to her rough and rebellious character.

While Olivia gave off a feeling of being weak and seeking protection, Ava gave off a feeling which made others seek protection from her.

They continued to dote on Olivia in front of their own daughter without even thinking whether they were hurting her feelings but Ava still did not blame them.

And so this vicious cycle kept on repeating.

It was a few years after Olivia came into the Crompton household that a piece of great news was delivered, Mrs. Crompton was pregnant once again and this time with a boy.

While Ava was very delighted at the prospect of getting a younger brother, Olivia felt nervous, she felt that the assets of the Crompton which were originally be divided between two people only now would have to be divided amongst three people, and a male successor was bound to get more.

And so she conspired,

She conspired to make sure that her inheritance stays safe,

She conspired against the hand that fed her,

Against the people who welcomed her into their home with open arms.

She conspired by taking away the life of a child who was yet to be born, who was yet to see the world with his own small and innocent eyes.

She took him away and framed Ava for it.

This incident left her grandparents heartbroken, but still they found it in themselves to forgive her as she was their own flesh and blood.

No matter how much Ava tried to prove her innocence, no one was willing to believe her, but she knew the real person behind all of this and that is why she joined the army, to bring Olivia down especially when she overheard her talking to some boy she fancied about their grand plan of taking over the Crompton family.

Later on, Olivia got involved with drugs and all other sorts of noxious stuff and even got married into a family which was deeply involved in the distribution of drugs all over the country and ended up helping her new family in their business.

All this while Ava stayed in the army and trained.

But Olivia was still not happy, she hated Ava and had wanted to completely destroy her life and so she along with her husband, framed Ava for taking drugs and that is when William Crompton lost it, he forced Ava into a marriage she did not want and even went as far as to threaten her with disowning her and when it did not work, he threatened her with his life.

At which Ava finally conceited.

Ava's new husband and Ivy's father was the heir of the Brown family who was trying to make it big into the business world which was ruled by families with old ties and for him, the Crompton family with their hundred old histories of involvement in the army which had earned them some deep ties with every major family was very beneficial.

And so, the two of them were married.

At first, Ava was treated respectfully for being the lady from the Crompton family, but things started to change when Olivia told them all about Ava's dark past and how she had little to no importance in the Crompton family.

That is when the abuses and insults started, her mother-in-law was not at all happy with Ava as her daughter-in-law, for she preferred Olivia much more due to her submissive nature.

Gilbert Brown was very filial to his mother and that is why he never stood up for his wife.

One time, when Ava was fed up with all this, she decided to get a divorce and that is when her own father threatened her once again with his life, he told her that if she divorced Gilbert then he would take his own life and kill Mrs. Crompton along with him.

And so Ava continued to suffer silently in that wretched house, the only place where she felt alive was in the army and so she started spending more and more time there, which led her mother-in-law to believe at first that Ivy was in fact not her grandchild, even after a DNA test, she continued to believe that the test was faked.

That is the reason why she never treated Ivy well.

Ivy was also forced to go through the same abuse through which her mother went and all this while her father, who was using the Crompton families ties was so busy expanding his business and never paid attention to her.

Ivy endured in such a household for sixteen freaking years before her mother's death after which she decided to follow her mother's footsteps by joining the army.

That is why she joined the army just a day after her mother died, hidden from the eyes of her family, she stayed there for one year as she trained,

And all this while, her family did not even attempt to find her, and for the rest of the world, they thought that she was grieving her mother, which she was, by shooting the mannequins in the head while imagining them to be her dearest aunt.

And it was exactly one year later that she completed her training in record time as she returned to the public eye with a huge transformation in her as she started her mission.

Mission to send her Aunt, cousin and the rest of the people who were involved in her mother's death straight to hell.
