Rekindling A Relationship

Ivy laid still on the bed as the entire night before felt like a dream to her, a nightmare she wished to forget.

She had no idea how she made it to her bed from the sofa. Turning to the side, she saw the photo of James, which she kept at her bedside table. Picking it up, she stared at it.

Tracing a finger over her son's smile in the picture, she also out a tiny smile.

The calm environment was abruptly broken as the door opened with a bang, and a child's laughter filled the earlier quiet room.

James entered the room wearing his dinosaur pyjamas like the wind and leapt onto the bed, successfully landing just beside Ivy.

He raised his head as he looked at Ivy, and upon finding her awake and looking at him, a huge smile graced his face.

"Morning, Mumma.''

He said before giving her a wet and sloppy kiss on her forehead.

'Smoooooch.'

Wiping her forehead with the back of her hand, Ivy turned to the side and successfully captured James between her arms and began to attack him with countless kisses all over his face.

The sound of their combined laughter filled the room as both of them wrestled over the sheets in the morning.

After a while, the fight ended as James freed himself from Ivy, getting up from the bed, he ran towards the door, catching his breath before he turned to look at her as he told her.

''Uncle Ed is calling you for breakfast.''

Ivy got up as she rested her body on her hands and told James.

''Tell him that I am coming.''

''Okay''

James replied as he made a circle with his index and thumb joined before closing the door behind him as he took off.

Fifteen minutes later,

Ivy walked out of the room as she fixed the jacket of her powder blue suit with a white shirt inside.

Striding towards the table, she picked up a sandwich while she patted James on the head and told him.

''Sorry baby, I have to leave. Bethany just called me. I have to go and take a look at the new house we are building here.''

"It's fine, Mum.''

James said as he picked up a pitcher of juice and attempted to drink from it, blatantly ignoring the fact that it was twice the size of his face.

''Good boy.''

Ivy said as she planted a kiss on his forehead and left, her entourage of bodyguards waiting for her outside.

At the same time,

Wood's Main Mansion.

A red sports car entered the compound and parked in front of the door as the butler already waiting there went forward as he opened the door, waiting for the man inside to get out.

From the opened door, a long leg appeared, followed by another as a man exited the car.

Damon got down from the car as he waltzed towards the door.

Entering in, he saw his father and mother sitting on two of the divans, opposite each other.

Upon entering the living room, he sensed the tense atmosphere and coupled with the look on his mother's face, he knew that something was wrong, incredibly wrong.

But he still continued to walk on, deciding to brave the storm.

Deborah, on sensing him walk in, looked up and her face beamed up with hope. On the other hand, his father, Liam, said nothing as he just nodded at him as a sign of acknowledgement while he kept reading the newspaper in his hands.

Shrugging his shoulders at his father's behavior, Damon sat down on the third sofa as he instructed one of the maids standing there to bring him a glass of water.

All this while, his mother kept on looking at him. Finally, he could not take it anymore of her stares as he asked her.

''Why was I called here?''

On hearing this, his father put down his newspaper as he looked at him and stated.

''Your ex-wife is back.''

'Not my ex-wife, my wife.'

He declared in his mind, but on the outside, he just nodded his head in agreement.

''Then what are your plans regarding her?''

Liam questioned.

On hearing this, Damon just shrugged his shoulders as he replied.

''No plans. She has got nothing to do with me.''

Hearing this, Deborah practically jumped up from her seat and shouted.

''See! He wants nothing to do with that b*tch!''

For this, she was rewarded with a stern glare by Liam Wood, causing her to quiet down. Seeing his wife behave, Liam looked back at Damon as he asked him.

''You do know her real identity, don't you?''

''So what?''

Damon asked in return upon hearing his father.

Letting out a sigh, Liam closed his newspaper as he looked at Damon seriously and told him.

"Listen, Damon, the Belmont's are a very prestigious family, associating with them will greatly benefit us. There is no downside to having connections...and especially regarding your situation.

The two of you were married before, which gives us a far greater edge than the others who simply boast to have some measly business connections with them.

I know that the two of you are estranged, but I think it would be a good idea to amend your relationship.''

Liam told Damon like a worried elder, acting as if he was not the one who had previously humiliated Ivy and had her and her stuff thrown out of the house.

Damon just sat there, silently as he balled his fists, feeling lost and perplexed at how low his father could swoop in the name of family and business.
