Chapter 1 - BREAK UP

"O-oh."

The voice that was heard and stopped the activities of two couples who were doing obscene things in Tommy's office, surprised Becca. She swallowed hard. There were no tears, only feelings of disappointment, hurt, and hatred that suddenly appeared.

"Becca..." the voice of the girl who was her best friend, Paige, sounded nervous. She lowered the bottom of her dress and stood up awkwardly. Meanwhile, Tommy remained in place with an expressionless lazy face.

"I already guessed it," Becca said, taking a deep breath.

No one made a sound because they had been caught red-handed. But Paige held Becca's hand as she was about to leave the room. "Please, Becca. Don't be mad at me."

"I'm not angry. Please... continue again. At first, I just wanted to take my boyfriend to lunch, but it seems that circumstances changed his status to be my ex-boyfriend," Becca said casually.

She looked at Tommy with the same expression as him. "We broke up."

"Alright, we broke up."

Actually, Becca was surprised that Tommy didn't even show any regrets. In fact, he agreed to break up. And hearing and seeing all this, made her believe that in the past few years, Tommy had been in the apartment less often.

The door closed with a loud bang, making some of the employees feel shocked. But Becca didn't care at all. Instead, she returned to her secretary's desk and worked as usual.

"Tommy, why did you agree? She..."

"She's your best friend. I know. But I think you are more beautiful than her, Paige," said Tommy. He stood up and fixed his clothes. He sat back in his chair and looked at Paige.

"You can't be like that, Tom. After all, she's the one with you. For the last four years," Paige said.

But the answer Tommy gave was just a shrug as if he didn't want to know. "You'd better go home. I'll be at your apartment later."

Paige reached for her bag. She also actually felt a little offended that Tommy was only using her body to satisfy his lust and then told her to just leave.

And after Paige left, Tommy sighed as he massaged the bridge of his nose. He thought so hard about what he did behind her girlfriend.

"Becca, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to betray you," said Paige, stopping at Becca's desk outside Tommy's room.

"It's fine, Paige. I expected it. Like I said. Don't worry. You're free with him now."

Her voice trembled as she said that. To be honest, of course, she felt hurt. The two closest people betrayed her. Even that betrayal with indecent behavior.

Paige bit her lip feeling really bad for Becca. She even stood there even though Becca was trying to get back to work.

"You're mad at me. I know you are. You always act like this every time-"

"Paige," Tommy called out of his room. And Paige turned to look at him while Becca tried to keep her eyes on the screen. "Just go home. Now."

And finally, Paige actually left the office. But Tommy's eyes were on Becca who didn't even look at him. "Becca, come to my room," he ordered like a boss.

Because Becca wanted to be professional in her work, she stood up and prepared herself to face the boyfriend who became her ex-boyfriend.

"I'm not going to apologize for what happened earlier," said Tommy, starting to speak. He stood and leaned against his desk, while Becca stood in front of him.

"Oh. Okay. Fine."

"But I know you're not alright," Tommy continued.

"You think that?"

Tommy nodded. His eyes didn't even take his eyes off Becca. He continued to stare at her seriously, making Becca almost weak because she still loved him, even though Tommy betrayed her.

"Don't you want to know the reason why I betrayed you?" asked Tommy.

"Speak. I'll listen." Becca looked tough and she actually spoke formally as if nothing had happened between them.

Tommy didn't speak right away. Instead, he stepped closer and surrounded Becca. And during their silence, Tommy took a deep breath of Becca's incomparable fragrance. It was as if he was contemplating every memory that existed without an expression of regret or sadness.

Meanwhile, Becca felt weak. She nearly staggered but Tommy caught her quickly so she wouldn't fall.

"I'm bored of you," said Tommy.

"I don't think you're as pretty as you used to be. And compared to Paige, she's even prettier than you. That's my honesty."

Becca sighed. It was natural for her to hear Tommy tell the truth whenever he felt something was missing or something he didn't like. Like Becca's daily diet, even she was numb to honesty.

"Don't you have something you want to tell me?" asked Tommy. "Why are you just silent and not begging for love at all for me?"

"Nothing. If I'm talking about anything it will not turn things around. I'm the one here who broke you up first," Becca replied. Even Becca clucked as if she was belittling Tommy. "Tsk! Begging for love? I don't expect anything from a love that has been betrayed, Tom."

Tommy snapped his fingers to cover up his nervousness after Becca said the last thing. "Ah, right. You broke me first and I agreed. By the way, does our breakup make you want to split up with me?"

"What do you think?"

"I think we should stay together. We have a lot planned for our lives together."

"Alright, if that's what you want."

Tommy was almost frustrated at knowing how much Becca had followed what he said. But he restrained himself with his cool attitude towards Becca.

"Deal," he said, extending his hand for a handshake.

Becca looked at Tommy's hand that had just touched Paige. And she didn't want to touch Tommy for a while. So she just crossed her arms over her chest and looked at Tommy.

"I don't want to touch you. But don't worry, we'll deal with it. Do you still have something to say to me, sir?" Becca asked skeptically.

Tommy felt awkward because Becca didn't want to be touched by him. He withdrew his hand and then turned back to his chair. "Nothing. You can go back to your desk."

"Alright, sir."
