36 chapter 36

Joe stood there in total amazement of what he had just been told. All three picked up the briefcase that they had at their side and put it the office desk that the factory boss was sitting behind.

They unlocked the cases and opened it to Joe's bewilderment.

It was plumb full of Rindats (Urano money)!

Joe had never seen much money in all of his life, thus causing his eyes to about jump out of his skull. The promoters all had a poop eating grins on their wrinkled faces.

The boss spoke,"Why do not you not at least feel the money before you make your decision?"

Joe was trembling as he approached the money and picked some of it. He was both excited and scared, since he did known if should take the money or not.

The three promoters all shut the briefcase with all the money back inside. The cases were left unlocked as they handed Joe all the money in the three cases.

Vince speaks,"Why don't you take the money with you and see if it suits you! if you do not want to work for us then just return the money and keep whatever money that you had spent. If you want to accept our offer then keep the money as a signing bonus.

The boss stood up and put the check in one of his overall pockets.

The factory boss spoke,"Take the day and enjoy yourself for once. Comeback within the next couple days with your answer."

The mma promoter spoke,"My name is Dana and I am the nearby MMA promoter. Take your time, we will be waiting."

Joe left the office with the money in one hand and left the over sized lunch pail in the break room. He then walked back home with the three briefcases in one hand. He had taken his time walking home, since he was still in doubt of what he should with the three briefcases of money. At least, that is what he thought he was doing. He arrived back in front of his home in less than thirty minutes. Fear had not been the factor to cause him to move faster this day, it was the need of advice that he had carried in his heart this very day. What would he do with life, after being offered a way out of the mere existence that he dredged through six days a week. The only reprieve is when he had been on church or at home.

Joe walked back into the house to see that Grandma and Bertha was cooking some sort of dinner for when Joe returned back home that night.

Joe spoke,"I am home Grandma!"

Grandma spoke,"Why are you doing back so soon? Were you not supposed to be working at the factory today?"

Joe spoke,"My boss gave me the day off!"

Bertha and the old woman stood there confused while looking at Joe.

#

Joe explained to the two what had occurred back at the factory and the offers that had been given to him.

Grandma spoke,"You chased off the police chief and had three different sports promoters make you offers."

Joe opened all three briefcases on the kitchen tables, which caused the two women's jaws to drop. The three had never seen such a large sum of money in their entire lives, yet alone in one sitting.

Joe spoke,"The million Rindat question is: Do I take the money or not? Do I allow myself to work under these three men? I do not have the faintest clue to how I should respond."

Grandma was starting to get light-headed and had to sit down in one of the kitchen chairs for fear of falling.

Joe's grandmother begun to weep uncontrollable with here palm over her face.

Bertha asked,"Grandma, what is wrong? do you need something?"

Grandma looked up at the two with a huge smile, as if her tears had poured out of joy and not due to grief.

#

Joe, Bertha, and Grandma decided to use some of the money that the promoters had given, to go out to lunch at the only local diner in the run down neighborhood. It was called Abby's steakhouse.

Joe ordered each of the steak meals plus also ate from the oriental style buffet.

Joe's appetite matched his massive size, thus the whole dinning room was starting at him with

utter amazement at all the food he was eating. He was not binge eating, but just storing up calories for when he decided to work again. Joe could fast for a month at a time while just drinking water and eating up his stored up calories.

Joe had finished eating, while the two women were just mid meal, when he saw someone he had seen before. He just could not pin it down and kept staring at the person with two others that he had just recently met.

It was the three sports promoters that wanted to sign him.

Joe's eyes grew wide as he seen a ghost.

Grandma picked up at the sight and asked,"What is wrong, Joe?"

Joe spoke,"It is the three men who made me the offer to work for them."

Bertha and Grandma both gasped.

#

Grandma remembered the conversation that she had with her grandson early that same morning.

Grandma had cried out while being in Joe's arms.

She spoke,"Nothing is wrong baby, I am just happy that my prayers about you had been answered!'

Joe spoke,"So this is my way out of the low paying jobs and a chance at a better life. You had always told me that God made me into something special and I would get out of this ghetto. You always said that since Mom and..."

Joe started to fight back his tears as he held his grandmother in a gentle embrace.

Grandma spoke,"I know that you are still constantly haunted by your parents' murder but you do

not have suffer alone, baby. Bertha and I are here for you! Do not blame yourself over the fact that they died and you lived. You put yourself through so much out of guilt over something that you had no control over. You are trying to save everyone in place of Wendy and McDonald!"

Joe had not cried for himself since his parents but that changed after hearing his grandmother's declaration. He fell to his knees, completely by his grief that he had acquired over most of his life. He was shaking like a leaf in a wind tunnel.
