1 Chapter 1

Spy

What is a spy?

Well, according to the Oxford dictionary ‘a spy is a person employed by a government or any organization to secretly obtain information on an enemy or a competitor’

That is true…. well…. almost. You see, a spy is much more than a person who fights the enemy. Nah, that only happens in movies. A real spy is someone who serves the community as well. A real spy is also someone who helps victims in their times of need during missions. We’re more than just human killing machines.

Moving on

I entered the mansion with as much sex appeal I could muster. Immediately, tongues started wagging and men turned their heads. Where else to find potential sugar daddies than at a pool party in Victoria Garden City?

I took a glass of wine from the tray of a walking waiter.

Spy rule #1: In order to avoid suspicion, never approach the subject unless under extreme circumstances. Instead, put yourself in a position where the subject approaches you.

That isn’t so hard when you’re a lady that’s wearing a tight dress with cleavage and not to mention that most of the men here are womanizers all looking for a woman to warm up their bed tonight.

I made my way to sit at the bar. I took a sip of my champagne and scanned the area. It was a normal pool party- the type that you would see in movies. The music was loud, people made out in the pool and in other places. Young girls in bikinis flirted shamelessly in the pool with men that were three times their age. Some even rubbed their pot bellies and licked their necks. Ewww…. all for what? an iPhone 11? 20-inch human hair? The new Louis Vuitton boots? I wouldn’t do this even if I had no choice. I’d rather die.

Step 1 of the mission: Enter the subject’s residence undetected (Check)

To these people, I’m just another party invite. They couldn’t be more wrong

“I’m in the subject’s house” I said

My message was being directed to my earphone. Martin, the computer geek and also my partner was at the end of the line.

“Proceed with step 2”

“Got it”

Step 2: Detect the subject and distract him

The Subject – Mr. Michael wasn’t hard to spot. He was in the pool surrounded by girls who wanted his money of course. Time to work my magic. Let’s put rule number one into practice, shall we?

Apart from professional self-defence and gadget training, we female spies are taught the art of seduction. No seriously, “Seduction 101” is a mandatory class in the academy where we’re taught how to attract our subjects in order to distract them and get what we want.

I had to make Mr. Michael notice me.

All I had to do was make eye contact with him for four seconds precisely – that would make him think I’m interested. The eyes are the windows to the soul after all. Next move, flip my hair and cross my legs. He practically drooled. What do you expect? It’s not hard to resist a beautiful young girl in a tight short animal print dress and heels. Let’s not miss the fact that he is also a chronic womanizer. He’d chase anything in a skirt – even if it was a man in disguise.

In less than a minute, he was sitting on the stool across me. He is now dressed in a robe. He licked his lips, obviously liking the sight in front of him. I pretended not to notice him as I fiddled with my phone.

“Hi beautiful” he said

I looked at him. He was an average heighted man with a clean haircut and a small potbelly. He’s probably in his late forties. He had a devious smirk on his lips. Cocky bastard. He thinks he can get any girl because of the billions in his account. I so badly want to punch that smirk off his face but now isn’t the right time. We have to wait for perfect timing.

“Hello sir”

“Ah no no no. Don’t call me sir. I’m a young blood like you. Call me Mike’

Fool. His Igbo accent was thick too

“Sorry sir. I mean Mike” I did that on purpose

He laughed heartily like a man who just won the lottery.

“What is your name?” he asked me

“Adaeze. You can call me Ada”

Ha! I bet I got your mouth open there. Never heard of a Nigerian spy, have you? It’ll shock you to know that I’m definitely not the first. In fact, we’re an organization called ‘The Conversion”. Don’t worry; we’ll get to that later. I’ll explain everything to you soon.

”Ada. What a beautiful name”

“Thank you”

A.D.A means ‘Annihilate. Don’t. Agitate”. My parents had a reason for giving me that name. I was already bound to The Conversion even before I was born.

“I’m hacking into all the CCTV cameras” Martin said “Get ready to attack”

Aye aye captain

“Will you like to keep me company tonight?” he wiggled his eyebrows at me

I grinned

“Of course. We can start now”

Oh, I’ll keep you company. I’ll keep you company at the back of my van when I knock you out

He giggled like a girl “Should we go inside?”

“Yes, just give me a minute”

Step 3: Point out all possible threats

I brought out my compact powder from my purse. I opened it and looked in the mirror. To any normal person, I was probably a vain girl who was bothered about the condition of her mascara but in reality, I was a secret agent who was checking for enemies through the mirror. I used the mirror to scan through the place.

I noticed five bodyguards in total. There will be more inside, I’m sure. Security is tight here. I have to be careful.

“A distraction will be created. Use the opportunity. Operative C and E are already in action”

Operative A is Camille and Operative E is Ebuka. They are both my partners. They’re getting rid of obstacles upstairs.

“Let’s go now, I can’t wait” he said clasping his hands

He looked more excited than a kid at a candy store

“Hold on sir. I want to make sure I look fine for you”

“Good girl”

“Get ready. Countdown for five seconds. Five”

I put my compact powder back in my bag

“4”

I put my hand on my gun, ready to bring it out any minute

“3”

I looked for the nearest entrance to the house

“2”

I prepared myself to attack

“1”

You know that “perfect timing” thing I was talking about? Well, the time is now!

“Action!”

A loud bomb sounded over the music. That’s probably the distraction. Everyone screamed and started running. The whole place was in a state of frenzy as everyone battled to escape.

I punched Mike straight in the face- knocking him out cold. As expected, a bodyguard came to attack me. Swiftly, I pulled out my gun and shot him in the shoulder.

One down, four to go.

Another came with a gun in his hand. I kicked the gun out of his hand with speed and punched him as well. The rest kept shooting at me from across the other side. I carried a steel stool and used it as a shield. When the coast was somewhat clear I shot three of them with precision. They didn’t name me” Annihilate don’t agitate” for nothing.

Step 4: Find the hidden room

I rushed into the house and dashed up the stairs as fast as I could. I met another bodyguard. He punched me but I ducked. I twisted his arm behind his back and delivered a kick to his spine. I took his gun in my other hand.

‘Step 1 to 3 completed” I told Martin “Direct me to the room”

‘Alright. Let me look for your location. Keep moving”

‘Hurry!”

I ran down the corridor. Camille came out of one of the rooms. She had two guns in her hands and blood on her blue dress. Her hair was a mess too.

“Hey” we simultaneously said

“I’m going to take down the rest of the security so no one will get in your way”

“Thanks. Where’s Ebuka?”

“In the computer room. He’s trying to hack into the systems for information”

“Good”

“Stay safe”

“You too”

We parted ways. She went down the stairs while I walked further down the hallway, gun ready in my hand in case I needed to attack.

“Go to your left and climb the stairs till you get to the third floor. Be careful, there are two men in the room”

I followed his directions till I got to the room. I broke down the door with a kick. Not bad for a girl in heels, huh?

It was a room filled with about fifty or more kidnapped girls that Mr Mike was supposed to ship abroad for sex trafficking.

I pointed my gun at the two men

“Let the girls go or I shoot” I said

They both looked at each other and laughed. They pointed their guns at me

“Look at this girl” one of them said “How are you going to stand against two men?”

“Say your last prayers” the other said

They pulled their triggers but nothing happened. I smiled

Ebuka previously went into the weapon room and disarmed all their guns.

A look of panic spread across their faces. It was my turn to laugh now

“No, you say your last prayers” I smirked

I shot them both

“Come on ladies, you’re free” I told them

I helped them up one by one. Their hands and mouths were tied. As they left the room, I arranged them quickly in an orderly manner to avoid them tripping over each other

“The girls are free” I said to Martin

“Camille and Ebuka are ready with their vans. Get yours ready as well and lead them in”

I led them out of the house all the way outside. Camille, Ebuka and I shared them among our vans. The police will be here soon.

When all the girls were settled in, we drove off

I sighed in relief as I hit the road

“Good job guys” I said through my microphone

“Good job” Camille and Ebuka answered

I grinned in joy and pride. How I live for the thrill.
