1 Ro's POV

"Vivian, Ro," a familiar voice called out my name. It was sweet and girlish. After six years living in their home, I recognize the voice, my adoptive mother, Serenity Papillon. "Quinn is already waiting for you both at his Mercedes."

"Yes, mother." Vivian Papillon greeted her mother with a big smile. She looks like her mother who has her pink eyes while Vivian's chocolate brown hair was from her father, Cyrus Papillon. Basically, it means that Vivian is my adoptive sister.

"I'm coming!" I stated as I packed a notebook and a pen inside my blue shoulder bag. I headed towards the door and said goodbye to Serenity. "See you later, mom!"

I sat down on Quinn's red sports car and closed the car door. Vivian sat beside me at the backseat. She flipped her hair and tied it with a red ribbon. "Let's go Quinn. We are all here."

Quinn gave out a groan and told Vivian, "You don't have to tell me. I'm not stupid, Viv."

"Just go, Quinn," I chuckled at the two's argument. They were always like that ever since I met them. Vivian's mean attitude is normal for me though I like it when she has a sweet side towards her cousin. It reminds me of when both of them found me at a river. That thought give me sudden chills.

Six years ago, Quinn and Vivian were playing near a river, and they found me unconscious and floating. I, however, didn't knew what was going on and what even happened. I got an amnesia but I do only remember my name. Ro. Nothing else after that. After I gained consciousness that night, they brought me in to the Papillon family. Additionally, in that night, they adopted me and gave Papillon as a last name to me. This is one thing why Vivian was always cold towards me. She wanted to be the one and only daughter of the Papillon.

The Papillon is the most powerful family in the city of Prince. They also own the top one magical university and my adoptive father is the mayor. I'm so lucky to be one of them. As much as I want the throne of Papillon, to be the heiress, even if I am six months older that her, I can't since I am just once an orphan lucky enough to be adopted by them. Vivian never understood that.

Since they took me in, they trained me into who I was today. A fearless assassin. My father had taken me on missions and trained me to be ruthless yet I didn't like it to be bloody. Somehow I became used to it and like it eventually. My mother was proud of me that I succeeded to complete my training just a year before Vivian. That's the second part on why she despises me. I eventually learned how to control my magic and use it in different ways.

Magic attributes are different to each people. However, most don't get magic. Mana is actually passed on by blood and their magic defines who they are. I don't fully understand it why I got a rare magic attribute because I am just a nobody, and because of that, Vivian's reason number three on why she despises me appeared. Her magic is creation. A Water type creation magic. I actually am terrified of when she uses magic on me. Despite of how I use my magic, and how powerful I can be, I have difficulties with water and a phobia, no doubt. I cannot swim plus maybe my frightening side is due to the problem that caused my amnesia. Maybe the waters have something to do with it. Sigh. I try to remember but everytime I do, my head hurts. I wish I can remember. At least who my friends were. Or maybe I had a family too. Maybe they missed me.

Quinn suddenly stopped his car. Due to inertia, Vivian's head crashed to the front seat. She touched her forehead. Fortunately, she hasn't bled. She raged, "What the heck, Quinn?! At least brake slowly!"

"T-The Dark P-Prism is here," trembled my cousin.

The Dark Prism. I forgot to mention who they were. As I told earlier, I've been in missions, and one of my missions was with the Dark Prism. They are an elite group full of villains that tried to steal the Papillon Crystal, a gem that contains the historic magic of the family. Each family in rank has gems in their possession and has been passed down by generations. Vivian totally wanted to inherit the crystal although she hasn't seen it. Well, I did, once. It was like a rainbow that was stored in one place. The Dark Prism's true intentions were still sealed because most of our spies that went undercover never came back.

"I'll handle them," Vivian decided. "Build a barrier around us, you two!"

I put faith in her that she can stop them. However, I saw pins on their clothing that addresses them to be a Level 15. "Sister, they aren't like the ones you fought before."

Persons with magic were leveled to classify how strong you currently are. As of now, Vivian is a Level 8, and Quinn is a Level 9. They can't defeat them. But, my sister is too persistent and told me, "I can handle them, well enough, Ro. Don't call me sister. I'm not your sister, by the way."

Since I haven't attended a magical school, I wasn't classified yet. This is one part that makes me excited on the first day of school. Father stated that I will have to go on a few tests so they could identify what level I am on. They were expecting great things for me since I was the only one who reached their potential expectation.

"Just be careful, Vivian," I told her, but it looks like that she didn't listened to what I said. "Remember your training!"

"I am not your sister okay?! You don't have to tell me everything that I know!" She argued. "Besides, this is a chance to prove myself to Father and Mother, and to raise my level higher. Don't butt in, orphan!"

Despite every mean words she said to me daily, I still care for her. She doesn't see it the way I do, but that's fine as long as my family member is safe.

"Show the what you've got, Viv!" cheered Quinn. He believes in his own cousin. Well, that's Quinn. Family or friends, he supports them in any way he can. However, in this incident, Quinn already knows that he cannot defeat a Level 15 at this point of his magic. Our mentor said to us once that we shouldn't fight battles we can't win. Vivian, on the other hand, is a very stubborn girl. We did have the same mentor but she is using this opportunity to show what she really got. I believe in her, but I do have a feeling that she can't fight this battle on her own.

Vivian flipped her long brown hair and chuckled lightly, "Of course. I'm a Papillon and I never lose to scums like them."

"What did you say, brat?!" one from the Dark Prism snapped. "Just give us the crystal and we won't bother you anymore."

"Never!" Vivian hesitated.

The boy with the red hair scoffed. "You should have listened to us."

Suddenly, a blazing fire sparked and it is nearing Vivian. She jumped a little, and then smiled with confidence. She uttered, "And you should have known that fire is no match for water."

"Tss..." scoffed the red haired boy while Vivian managed to send a water eagle to chase of the fire. He laughed, "Let's see how you can hit this, newbie!"

The boy sparked a fire dragon with his bare hands and attacked Vivian at full speed. She managed to dodge the attack but she couldn't concentrate her magic to attack the dragon. Vivian swiftly whispered a spell and eventually, a dolphin appeared but it was still not enough to defeat the Dark Prism's dragon. The water by Vivian evaporated.

"No way," Vivian gasped. I could tell from her face that she was now seeing and fearing how powerful a Level 15 mage can be.

Suddenly, the dragon started to quickly move to bite Vivian who was still stunned. I decided to move my feet and defend her. I stood right in front of her and pointed my right palm towards the moving dragon. I recited, "Clover Berserk!" It was one of my powerful spells and I hoped that it would work even if the mage is more powerful than I am.

In an instance, a three-clover appeared in front of the fire dragon's face and it was smashed into a thousand pieces.

"It failed. You are a weakling," muttered Vivian, though I could hear her.

On the contrary, it didn't. The clover was supposedly to be torn into pieces while the being that was attacked by the spell starts to go berserk and attack whoever casted it in the first place. Good for me though that the dragon was a creation. I couldn't use that spell on any other than a living creature.

The dragon headed to its owner in great speed. The boy with the red head screamed and still tried to order it to attack us, but it wouldn't listen. When it was near him, he decided to poof it away like it never happened. The other boy, the one with the hazel hair, he teleported his comrade and himself near where both me and Vivian were standing. Quinn narrowed his eyes on the enemy and told them, "Don't you go near my cousins, freaks!"

"Hmph... That went well," the hazel haired boy indicated. "He wanted the results now."

"What?! We'll tell him that we failed in getting the crystal?!" The red haired boy questioned.

"No idiot. The other mission." His comrade punched him hard in the face.

"Ouch!" He complained.

Without any other words, they both left the scene.

"What happened?! Where we just attacked by the Dark Prism?!" Quinn couldn't believe that we were still alive, standing on our feet, and that the enemy retreated.

"Idiot," said Vivian. "They didn't escape. We became experiments for them."

I was shocked on how she got that quickly just from their conversations. But I asked myself, who could the person who wanted the results be? I had a feeling that this person was somewhat had a familiar but odd feeling to me.

"Airhead, get in." Vivian scolded as I saw her get back into the car.

I didn't respond to her. I just sat back and thought about it, how we just survived a Level 15 mage attack, as Quinn drove the car to our real destination, the number one magical school owned by the Papillons, the Crystal Butterfly University.
