3 Episode 3 - Now What?

Lexie: It's been a week since me and my best friend Tanya decided to uproot our lives and relocate to New York. And so far, I can say the week is quite uneventful.

Well maybe except for the parts when Tanya resigned from her job and my dad begging me to stay and when he can't, he offered to buy me an apartment in New York. Pssh. As if I'd agree to that.

Since the day of my failed wedding ceremony, I vowed to myself that I will learn to survive on my own. No more relying on my dad for finances. No more jumping from one relationship to another. No more seeking validation and affection from another person. From now on, I will live my life for myself, and self alone.

But that's easier said than done.

We are on our third day here in New York and we still can't find an apartment we can afford to stay in. The very little money that I was able to withdraw before deciding to cut all my cards are starting to deplete. And I'm assuming, the same goes for Tanya.

Tanya and I are hanging out in a local pub somewhere on 5th Avenue, when a familiar face showed up by the door

Lexie: Oh my God, Tans! You wouldn't believe who just walked in.

Tanya: What? Where? Who? Is it Tim? Shit.

Lexie: No. And eew. Why would he be here? And fuck, do you want him to be here? No, it's Pam! Your gay ex from high school, Pam! Hey, Pam! Get over here!

Lexie: Pam or Rodolfo Pampilo Jr. was our classmate in high school. He and Tanya dated for a while. More specifically, he used Tanya as beard from his overly strict dad throughout high school. Well, Tanya knew he was gay, but we both love Pam. Everybody did. He is like this super cool I-don't-give-a-damn-I'll-say-whatever-I-want-diva, except when he is in front of his father. Whenever his dad was around, he turned into this fidgety, timid young boy that we don't know. That truly broke our hearts. Seeing this wonderful person, pretending to be not who he really is because he is afraid that his own father would not accept him.

So when Pam asked Tanya to be his fake girlfriend, she gladly accepted and that lasted well until our junior year, when Pam's dad caught Tanya making out with her then real boyfriend and now estranged husband, Tim.

Pam tried to explain to his dad that it was okay, but his dad had other plans and told Tanya's very conservative mother, our school principal, about Tanya and Tim. It was quite a scandal for the parents of our small community. Imagine, the always prim and proper daughter of the principal was "screwing" around with two boys. Well, depending whose parent you asked, the number jolted up to five.

Trying to do the right thing and to protect Tanya from forever ruining her reputation, Pam ended up confessing everything to his dad. His father was so mad at him. We didn't see him at school after that incident. Then we just heard that he ran away and moved to, yes, you have guessed it right, here in New York.

Pam: Oh my god! If It isn't Alexandra Angelica Thompson and my favorite ex-girlfriend, Tanya Jessica Hawkins! Bitches! I missed your pretty faces! Why are you here in New York? What is up with you two?

Tanya: Pam, oh my god. I can't believe it's you! You still look the same.

Pam: Bitch, please! I'm more fabulous now. What are you talking about?

Lexie: Pammie, girl! I love you so much but what the fuck is with all that faux-fur?

Pam: Oh, you're still a bitch aren't you, Lexie my love? Well, this is a costume for a stage play.

Lexie: Oh my god! Are you like a Broadway star now?

Pam: Soon. But right now, I'm a fabulous theatre assistant. So anyway, what are you two California bitches doing here?

Tanya: We're moving here.

Pam: What? Why? Life back in our place is way more chill. Here in New York, as much as I love it here, you just have to grind and hustle, twenty-four-seven. It's giving me wrinkles.

Tanya: Well, as much as we wanted to stay, we both need to breathe fresh air.

Pam: You need fresh air so you went here? To New York? Bitch, the closest thing to fresh air you can get here will be coming from my mouth, and I haven't brushed my teeth since my morning coffee.

Lexie: No, bitch. You know what we mean. We want to start anew. We both got fucked hard at home. We needed to run away.

Pam: Oh. I get you, girl. Trust me.

Tanya: We know. That's why we will kind of need your help. Can you help us look for an apartment? We've been staying in a hotel since we moved here. And it's causing a huge dent in our pockets.

Pam: Bitch, say no more. You two beautiful hobos can stay with me.
