15 Chapter 14 Life-forces and contradiction

"Kishi" She called "there something that I need to tell you.....It's about Kira..."

Kishi gave no reply whatsoever

"I know I promised not to tell her--"

"Then why are you--"

"It's because I believe you have every right to know it" said Mika as her voice became louder

Kishi was rendered silent as Mika begun to explain herself

"She has a dark mark, the crest of the dark lords..."

Mika continued to tell him everything, and as soon as she finished, Kishi sprinted out, leaving her behind.

Kishi was running through the grounds, looking everywhere. He was so desperate to find her, especially because he felt her presence from disappearing.

He felt so guilty from not being able to understand, he could remember Mika telling him "She was not permitted to go near white mages.....that also mean.....from you..." All this time she'd been enduring, just to be with him. Her life-force is draining, yet she didn't care. He also recalled asking her "why are you so pale? Are you alright?" but she just nodded as if there's really no problem. He felt horrible. Ever since what happened in four years past, he always wanted to become stronger so that, he could protect her.

Sometimes he can't understand why everything in his heart is being contradicted. When he wanted to protect, he brought harm instead. When he feared his sister may disappear, it always happened. In the past, and now. His life is breaking apart.

All he ever wanted was the life he used to have, a peaceful and happy life. But time is moving. He felt terrible pain in his chest. It was already night, and the it was full moon that night. Winter is coming closer, the autumn is fading, and it was cold.

He reached the lake; a silhouette of a girl is glittering with the stars. She has long-white-silky hair that flows softly with the breeze. Her skin is glowing lightly, slightly illuminating her school uniform. She was barefooted, her feet are fading and are transparent, while the ground under her feet is filled with beautiful flowers, glowing.

She turned around; her face is filled with tears. She gave an innocent look. Kishi didn't even bother to catch his breath and embraced her tightly.

"I'm sorry..." Kishi finally broke into tears as he apologized. Kira said nothing. She clenched the edge of her dress, forcing herself not to cry

"I'm sorry" he repeated

"Just forget about me..." Said Kira

"How the hell do you expect me to do that?! Were one of the same... remember?" Tears fell from his cheeks. He lifted her from the ground, and she then wrapped her arms on his shoulders. The two of them were so close, their lips met. In great speed, the flowers grew more and more beneath them, and soon the whole edge of the lake was filled with radiant flowers. The lake glowed gold, the night became brighter.

Mika was just standing five meters behind them. She placed her right hand on a near tree, and wiped her tears with the other. She was deeply relieved. The sight in front of her was so beautiful, yet it was frightening. But right now, she can only smile.

Meanwhile, Airi, Rex, and Lune was looking out on the window, staring at glowing pond and flowers around it

"What an early spring" Rex said in a sarcastic voice

"Who would've thought, those two of all people could do a forgotten spell" Airi said resting his head on his arms while peering out of the window

"They're Sacred Royals" Lune told Airi

"I know that" He replied in a sharp tone "what I'm saying is...they cast a forgotten spell before even learning magic"

"It's THEM after all..." Said Lune finally closing his book

"I suppose...it is beautiful...." Rex said putting all his weight on Airi

Airi looked at the flowers at the bank and was shocked "Hey....is it me or...most of the flowers are pink and black roses?"

Rex and Lune took a closer look, and Airi was right. The glowing flowers are filled with mostly roses.

"No way..." Airi spoke in disbelief

"The forgotten magic of spiritual rebirth...which involves?" Rex asked

"Life forces" Lune answered

Rex gulped and recalled his memories...

"What happens when someone dies?" A child about the age of four asked his father

"It's either they'll wither and disappear forever, or be reincarnated as their elements" The father answered opening his arms to carry his son

"Why would that happen?" the boy asked again

The father smiled, "They reincarnate through the strength of their life-force--"

"How would someone's life-force remain after death?"

"Regret son" the father placed his hand on the child's head "One's life-force remain if there's regret. The magic transforms into a physical form depending from its element, a flower for example. That flower is created because of the life-force that remained caused by regret, and was given a second chance to clear all those regrets to happiness--"

"Not all elements have life!"

"All things have life as long magic exist"

Rex was utterly shocked. None of the three of them knew anything. Airi took a deep breath and said

"They're all hiding secrets from all us children. And they, I meant the guild" He looked at the other two then taking another slight look at the window "In fact their existence had been bothering me for a while now...don't ya' think?"

After some while, the miraculous sight vanished. Everything came back to normal, and Kishi was still hugging her tightly. Mika walked closer and Kishi only looked at her.

"That's the least I expect you to do. She's also unconscious. I think it's best for her to be inside, it is getting cold"

Kishi stared at her for a moment, then walked back to dorms. Mika followed him and there was awkward silent between them. Mika was so eager to start a conversation and break the silence

"How did you learn it?" She asked

"learn what?"

"Well-you know...the spell..." She replied quickly

"What spell?" Kishi asked again

"The forgotten magic of spiritual restoration...you know...the thing you just did..."

"Oh, that...It was pure instinct"

Mika forced her mouth not to drop. She felt embarrassed, then silence stuck again. Now she was really desperate. Kishi don't talk much and was obviously hard to talk to. She was actually wondering how Airi and the others spend time with him. She was beginning to panic, but then she noticed Kishi was not feeling any discomfort or tiredness in carrying his sister

"Umm...Is she heavy? I mean you're almost at the same size an all--''

"No"

"Oh! But even if she lost a lot of weight previously--" Mika tried to argue, but before she could even do

"No" he disagreed again

"Uh-pardon?"

"It's not because of that. She's....very light...like feathers. She's also ice-cold--"
