11 Chapter 10 Everything good has a cost
"Well…It's a pain to think about something that has yet to happen. Oh crap! Sychi's going to kill me if she found out I touched it!"
"You just realized that now!?" Rex said in a sarcastic voice
"Just shut up…Anyway…. we better leave"
The boys stood up and passes by a large pile of books. Lune took one and looked at the pile anxiously.
Rex offered him a weird stare as he complained about his craziness "Stop looking at those books like that! Your being to paranoi--"
Rex placed his hands on the pile and it lost balance as it fell all over the floor.
"HEY! CARE--ful…"
Lune tried to warn him but it was to late. A girl was sitting behind the stack. But now all the books
fell on her head, and she was now under it.
Airi sighed "Sorry…these idiots are causing you a lot of trouble"
Kira just nodded without a word. The Airi picked up the books to help her, then soon came the others. They cleared up the books and arranged it nicely at the shelves.
Kishi bent down to help her stand up but she refused and stood herself and left without a single word or even looking at him. Kishi was confused by this of course.
"I thought you said you talked to her already" Said Rex
"Yeah I did--"
"THEN WHY IS SHE IGNORING YOU STILL HUH!!??"
"HOW WOULD I SUPPOSE TO KNOW!!"
"Please don't speak to her…...especially in public…."
The boys were startled but Rex was shocked more that screamed "AAAH!! MIKA STOP THA--" He was stopped by the nudge one his side given by Lune
"I don't get it….why?" Kishi asked
Airi just sighed "you don't get it. I'll be going" He waved at them goodbye and head towards the direction where Kira went. Meanwhile, the others are left there totally dumped and clueless.
While walking down the halls, Airi heard a couple of voices and went there to peek. Although, just as he expected, the scenario that awaits him was terrible.
A couple of girls was there bullying Kira once again. They cornered her on the wall, she was trembling and cold sweat runs all over her.
"Tsk. You little bitch"
It was Aud. The girl in front was Aud, and she was also the one pushing Kira on the wall.
"How dare you" She smirked "Ha! Who do you think you are!? Spending time with the princes! A commoner like you should know your place better--"
A thorny pointed rose flew, separating them. It was like a dart but a bit longer, it was pink in color. Afraid and startled, the girls quickly turned around to see where it came from.
What met their eyes brought them terror. It was Airi. A group of teen-aged high schoolers against a nine-year-old boy may seem unfair, however, given Airi's reputation, none of them has a snowballs chance of winning.
"A-AIRI" said Aud
"Oh my, how rude…" he said coldly
"SORRY, YOUNG LORD AIRI!!" She bowed immediately and apologized
"Hmph…that's better…" he smiled maliciously at her "Sorry to interrupt though…...I kinda overheard and I thought it wouldn't be right to let a bunch of teen age girls bully a little girl now would it?" Airi said in a mocking tone as he approaches them.
The girls were trembling, they did not want to be at Airi's bad side. And that is not only because he's a exchanged student, but also because he's rose full of thorns, the heir of the Rosarose family of the rose clan, and a member of many elite organizations. He's a young genius, a master of sorcery, and a young slayer.
Airi grabbed Kira's arm and pulled her behind him and gave the girls another cruel stare. The girls received the hidden message behind his eyes and scrammed.
"I'm warning you though…...you could do whatever you want, and I only have the power to stop you.....However, no matter what you do….don't ever let him catch you….you'll regret it"
When they vanished from sight, Airi looked at Kira anxiously and asked "You ok?"
"Un…."
"Want some ice cream? Let's walk around for a bit"
"Un…" He smiled
They went out and walked around the grounds and sat on a bench near the lake. Kira was stuffing ice cream on her mouth when Airi questioned her
"Why did you just let them hurt you? I mean if were asking about power and authority...you have more of those than anyone in this school....so why?"
Kira lowered her ice cream and replied gently, "I cannot....I may have the power or the ability....Yet....I have no courage.....not without nisan.....I 'am way to weak..." she gave him a bitter smile, and this only made Airi became more anxious about her.
"I suppose.....though.....he changed a lot.....or at least.....not what you expect him to be"
She shakes her head and disagreed "No....Oni-isan hasn't change...he won't change....never"
"How could you be so sure?"
"It's because that is what I don't have...for he is I, and I is he...that's why..."
"Your weird" He chuckled
"Well I don't get you either"
"I doubt you would" Airi beamed at her as they talked to pass time. The sun was beautiful, the sky was pink and blue as the sun sets at the horizon. A beautiful blessing one should cherish...
At the evening, Mika was excited about something.
"Come on Kira-chan! Let's go to the bath together!"
"Sorry Mika I can't"
"Don't worry....I even reserved it just for the both of us! If your shy, don't worry cause were both girls!"
"t-that's not what I meant--it's--ah--well--"
And she decided to go anyway
"Haaahh....so relaxing...."
The bath was filled with steam from the hot spring water. The air smelled sweet and fresh, like lavenders. Mika was enjoying herself as she soaked in the water. Kira, on the other hand, wrapped herself on a towel, hesitating.
"Hurry up and get in already! We don't have forever you know!"
"I know....but....."
"Were both girls...Kira...."
"It's not that--"
"Don't worry I already knew" Mika grinned
"Mika....."
"I've known you enough to say your not that power greedy person. Your kind, and you look at people equally. In fact, I would say your naive....so go ahead and get relaxed!"
The two of them enjoyed themselves and talked about a couple of things. Mika was determined to know more about Kira. She was delighted to hear her soft voice and to listen to her stories. But the more she gets to know her, the more she felt jealous towards her.
"you know....I envy you" Kira startled at what Mika said "You have everything.....you have power, reputation.....and your very pretty...everyone loves you.....cares for you...specially those who know you and respects you.....your very lucky...not just that but your also kind.....I'm jealous.....so much that I started to hate myself.....I'm a coward....unlike you I--"
"Don't say that Mika...don't envy me"
"It's not that easy you know!!" Mika stood up suddenly that the waters splashed everywhere
"I used to think I was lucky too" Kira smiled but frowned as she leaned on the edge and rested her head on her arms "But sadly...." she sighed "I was wrong. No one can have everything. Since everything has a cost. The powerful are feared, the beautiful are envied, kind are abused, and those whom are special face the greed of others. No one in the world are lucky.....everything good has a contradiction....it only depends on how one accepts it. There is no such existence that has everything....so in exchange, one just have to cherish the things they already have. That's....what I believe. So don't envy me, okay?"
