18 Chapter 3

As we arrive, we can smoke arising from the beach. We ski-jumped over the bridge, leap back into the water, and slide upon the shore. We exited the vessel and hop on to land. We go to our objective, which was to secure the Central Square. We stood around waiting for any other G-Army soldiers who were trying to sneak past us. Zell and Seifer were getting antsy from the waiting. Squall just stood looking in each direction for any other soldiers.

"Man, I'm bored. When's the action going to happen?' Zell was starting to get anxious from waiting. He was ready to fight.

"That's it! I can't stand waiting here all day. What are we here for 'dog training'? To the side of them appear a dog, which was unusual. They never saw the dog follow them in. Then at that moment, the dog ran up to the north of the central square and howl. Why was the dog howling for? After the dog finishes howling, Squall and the team knelt behind the water fountain. From the east side of the water fountain, five or six G-Army soldiers stuck by going north. Then Seifer came behind Squall and looked up, and there was a tower sitting up on the mountain.

"Hey! What's that thing up there?"

"That's is where we're going next." Zell knew they weren't supposed to leave their spot because it was against orders.

"But aren't you bored?" Zell looked at Squall, thinking he was contemplating the same thing.

"We have to follow the captain's order." Seifer was surprised to hear those words come from Squall.

"Follow the captain's orders? Hmm?" Seifer knew that Squall's trigger finger was ready for some action. Squall was ready to size up his training. He could take on anyone even if they played dirty like Seifer. But only thought Squall would thank him for this day, but Squall didn't think like Seifer. Zell just watched as these two were acting all buddy-buddy. He clearly knew these two couldn't stand each other.

"Now we all know this no ordinary battle. The battle counts as a part of our exam. So we must take this seriously." Seifer was getting annoyed by his boy scot attitude.

"Well, you stay. Will go." Squall told Zell to knock off. They needed to follow the soldiers. Seifer pointed out that they were headed to the facility.

"Since we're Squad B. It's our job to secure the summit. Let's go!" So they left the Central Square and headed in the direction of where the G-Army soldiers were going. They headed across the bridge, which leads them to follow some stairs where they came across a wounded soldier.

"W-W=Who are you?" Squall was the only one in the group to respond to the soldier. He got closer to the soldier and discovered it was one of the solider they were to protect. They were Dollet soldiers. On the way from passing the bridge, they saw many soldiers were wounded due to the G-Army invading their territory.

"It's ok. We were sent from Garden. We're SeeD candidates. What's the situation?"

"The Galbadian soldier is heading to the Communication Tower. Please, you have to stop them. But be careful; this place is full of monsters." Before he had a chance to say anything else, a monster from out of nowhere grabbed the soldier and took him away. Then Seifer and his team had to fight the same monster. The soldier wasn't kindy about these monsters. They were tough. After the fight, we headed to the Communication Tower. The Communication tower was a large radio tower. This tower is connected to the mountain. This is probably the reason the soldiers were sneaky in from the mountainside. This was the Galbadian's primary target. The reason they are targeting is unclear at the moment. Seifer, Squall, and Zell lay at the cliff's top to recon to figure out what the soldiers were up to. They saw two soldiers at the entrance until another one show. They were talking about something about the tower.

"They got the generator up and running." Seifer and they were trying to figure out what they were doing cause they couldn't hear them from their position. Then the soldier was telling the other soldiers that the cables had been disconnected and everything was a go,

"I think I hear him say 'repairs.'" Seifer didn't really care. He wanted to fight these soldiers. Who cares about some repairs?

"You must be scared since this is your first real battle." Squall didn't know what to feel. He didn't really think about it.

"I fear nothing. I love the smell of a good battle." Seifer felt as if you could make it through a battle alive. Then your one step closer to fulfilling your dream. Squall never thought what his dream was. He wasn't sure if it was fighting or become a SeeD. He just never thought of these things. And now that Seifer is talking about it. It's got him thinking about now. And now it was starting to confuse him a little. Zell wanted to what they were talking about.

"Hey, I wanted to know."

"My your own business." Seifer always knew how to get under Zell's skin. Seifer left the group for a minute when an unexpected guest arrived. It was the girl that Squall gave a tour to early in the day. They looked to the left and saw her walking up some rocks. And she was stepping off the rocks, she lost her balance and fell on her face. She got up and dusted herself off, and walked up to them.

"Hey, re you guys Squad B?" Squall nodded after she said the question. Then she remembers it was Squall who gave her the tour from early.

"Hey, I forgot to say thanks for the tour you gave me. It helped out a lot. Oh, by the way, my name is Sephie. Sephie Tilmitt is a childish, upbeat, and hyperactive girl. She is looking to have fun. When she is not wearing the required uniform, she will usually be wearing a yellow overall dress with a front clip. A zipper that travels to the bottom of the dress and has two large pockets. She wears a silver pendant around her neck. And her stylish mid-calf brown boots. Sephie is from Squad A. She came to give the Seifer, who is the captain of squad B, a messenger. But as she was about to ask Squall that question, we see Seifer trying to sneak into the Communication Tower without his team. Before he goes in, he yells something at Squall.

"One of these days, I'll tell you about my 'Romantic' dream." Then he s into the tower. Squall showed Sephie who the captain was.

"The guy down. The one who ran into that building is our captain." Sephie didn't know if jumping off the cliff would be tough, but she did it anyway. She yelled for Squall and them to hurry down. But Squall decided it was best to go around the cliff than jump. When they finally reached Sephie, she wanted to know why they didn't jump.

"You wouldn't normally jump from a cliff, would you?" Sephie thought about it, and they were right. She wouldn't normally do that. After they were finishing talking, they went in to follow after Seifer. Before they had the chance to that. Seifer came flying through the door with his gunblade swinging in the air. Rushing those Galbadian soldiers out of the tower.

"Get out of here. You cowards!" Seifer when back in before Sephie had a chance to talk to him. They ran in to catch up to him, but he had already gone up to the top floor of the tower. As Squall, Sephie, and Zell were heading up there to meet with Seifer. Two Galbadian soldiers were tinkering with the tower to get up and running. One was just a basic soldier, while the other was of higher command.

"Major Biggs. we have reported that some shadow shape monster is on top of this tower?" Major Biggs wasn't really paying any attention to the soldier and his imagination. The soldier tried to get his attention, but he was bothering the major.

"Shut up! Can't you see I'm busy?" Major Biggs was too busy dealing with crappy tools that weren't working for him. And was trying to figure where things went. While doing the work, he complains about why he had to do all the repairs. The other soldier decided it was best to check on other things while the major was repairing. Squall, Sephie, and Zell finally made it to the top. And spotted the soldier repairing the tower.

"It's finally fixed." Then the tower started moving, and it was coming on. The team couldn't do anything except watch as it was happening. They came too late. Everything inside the tower starting turning on, and it was powering itself up. A tower was activated, and the satellite dish got into position.

"Hey! What the heck do you think you're doing?" Squall wanted to know what the soldier did. Then the soldier questions him back with the same response.

"Well, the same to you. What do you think you're doing?" Then he called for his soldiers, but no way around. Then he called for his soldier that he ignore earlier.

"WEDGE!" Wedge was nowhere to be found. Poor Major Biggs was all alone. Then just as he was about to sneak away. Seifer comes to ruin his day. The Squall chimed in on the conversation.

"Hey, I don't want to miss the vessel. And a withdrawal takes priority over everything else." Seifer was thinking if they had enough time. He was clearly up to something.

"Doesn't that mean we only have 30 mins left?" Well, Seifer couldn't do anything bad if he wanted to with the time they had left. So he thought it best if they got off this tower and heading straight to the shore. He took off, and Squall, Sephie, and Zell following right behind him.

"Did I crash your little party? Where do you think you're going?" The Seifer slides off his hand. The Major went crazy.

"What the hell your problem? Are you CRAZY?!" He probably was, but that shouldn't be his concern right now. His concern should be it's four against one. What was the Major going to do? He was no match for them. But the team didn't know about the shadow-shape monster that was apparently somewhere inside the tower. They were interrupted by the creature. So they had to fight this beast. It didn't take them that long. It was a little tricky at first, but they just cast their GF's, and it was done. They got a special surprise from that monster too. Another GF. It was a Siren. She was a sound-base elemental. It would help later if they needed to burst some bad guys eardrums. Seifer knocked out Major Biggs, and Sephie finally got the chance to tell Seifer her messenger.

"Captain Seifer, I have new orders for your team. The team is to withdraw at 1900 hrs and report back to shore." Seifer was upset that they wanted to withdraw. The enemy was still everywhere.

"Hey, don't get mad at me. I'm just the messenger." Seifer was pissed off. He wanted to beat up on some more bad guys. As Squall and they were going down the lift, Major Biggs woke and scurry across the floor and pick a controller and press some buttons.

"I got something for those twerps. Go and destroy them!" And then he passed out. Then they got to the bottom floor and headed out the door when they heard something. Then something jumps down in front of them. It was shaped like a spider, but it was all metal. This must be the creature that Major Biggs activated when they left. They fight the robot, but it temporarily breaks down, which gives them the chance to escape and fast before it wakes up. They get around the tower and head for the cliff when the creatures stop them. It seems this robot can repair itself after collapses. This doesn't help them since they only have 24 minutes left to get to the shore or get left. So they fight the creature, and it does the same thing again, and the team can't escape. They get across the bridge, but that sucker was fast and caught up to them. So here they go with the fighting again. And the escaping. They reach the area that they were before. Which was Central Square. They get to a corner with one final battle and destroy the sucker with the lightning bird. They have only 8 mins left to reach the vessel. They were at the front entrance as they were leaving Central Square. The vessel was a few feet away from them. They finally made it and with time to spare.

They made it k to land and were heading back to Balamb for their results. Squall, Sephie, and Zell all went their separate ways when they got to the front gate. Seifer had taken the car and left without them. So they had to walk the rest of the way back to Balamb. Squall walked up and saw Quistis, Headmaster Cid, and Xu talking by the directory.

"The mission was a success. And all the candidates came back safe."

"At the time, we didn't realize that the Galbadian Army was targeting the communication tower. But we got some news from the Doller Dukedom. The Galbadian Army will withdraw back as long as they can use the tower and its operational." The Headmaster was glad that the army was out of Dollet, but they could have made some extra money if they had stayed.

"So, son. How did it feel being on the battlefield?" Squall enjoys the feeling of being out there and fighting. But Headmaster Cid was happy for him but as long that feeling didn't go to his head. Squall went took a stroll around until the result were announce. That where he ran into Seifer. He was piss about what happens to the tower.

"Hey! If we only stay a few minutes,we could have been heroes." Seifer want to start a fight. He didn't care about all the other responsibilities like leaving the area where they were designated to secure. With Seifer's attitude, he will never become a SeeD. Then Headmaster Cid came in, said something to Quistis, and she left. Then Headmaster Cid reprimand Seifer for not following orders, but he gave him a little slack.

"I don't want you all to become machines. You should be able to think and act for yourselves." He was just about to finish his sentence when one of the faculty inform him he was needed in the office. So Headmaster Cid had to excuse himself. Then the faculty member started babbling about some rules.

"The SeeD shall not act unless by the wording." A buncha mumble jumble and Squall and Seifer were not paying attention to it. Squall left Seifer and heading up to the second floor to wait for the results. Then the faculty member came in and asked for Zell and Squall. The rest of the candidates will have another chance to try again. They went to Headmaster Cid's office, and up there waiting was Sephie. They were finally members of SeeD. They have passed the exam.

"Congratulations! You are now SeeD. You have the privilege of being dispatch over the world as mercenary helping other people who need our help. The Headmaster was about to get into a speech when the faculty member interrupted him.

"Headmaster Cid, keep it short. You have a meeting soon." He got back on track and finished telling them they're a valuable asset to the Garden and blah, blah, blah. Then he gave them their individual results. The results were done, and they were excused. Henry was hoping they would finally get a break after all of that battling. They went back to class. As they went into the hall, everyone was there to congratulations them. Squall was little modest by all this attention to him. He left to go to his room to change into his official SeeD uniform and get ready for the SeeD graduation party.
