17 Chapter 2

Before long, Squall and Quistis had finally reached their destination. They had reached Fire Cavern. In front of the entrance were two tall humanoid creatures with large hands. They were wearing a red robe with white lining the collar down to the arms. Before they went up, Quistis wanted to go over something with Squall.

"Make sure you junction your magic. That will help you out when fighting these creatures. And do you need to go over how to use your gunblade?" So that is what fell out of the sky during Squall's dream. His gunblade is a sword with a revolver chamber, and this serves as the hilt for the blade. The only is doesn't do is shoot.

"No. I think I can handle this weapon. Can we get on with it?" She giggled because she knew Squall's attitude when it came to things. So they went to the guards.

"Before you can enter, you must have a SeeD member support you?" Squall stood in a strong position to give his answer to the guard in front of him.

"I'm ready. And my instructor, Quistis, will be my support."

"This exam will be time. Please the time that is most challenging to you, but reasonable." Squall knew this would easy for him. So he picked that he would finish this exam in 10 min.

So he the guard his time and the guards moved from the entrance. And Squall and Quistis went through, and the guards went back to their spot.

"Good Luck." The time was running, so they went further into the cave. They fought monster after monster. The creatures were fire-based, but that was nothing to Squall's Ice Queen, Shiva. They finally reach the objective with 6:15 left to spare. The floor started to shake. And up came an almond-colored beast with black horns. And hair the color of brunt-sienna. He had golden-colored bracelets around his wrists. The fight would be easy. All Squall had to do was use his Ice Queen a couple of times, and this man would be toast. Squall thought two times would be enough to take the firey beast out, but he uses the Ice Queen one more time. And he finished the fight with 2:10 left to spare. Since he beat the animal, he attained his power. He is fire-elemental based called Ifrit and was a sore loser because he lost to a human. They get out of the cavern and head back to the entrance. They leave the cavern and head back to the school. They reach the front entrance of the school, and Quistis stop to talk.

"Good job, finishing this exam. Make sure you take care of your GF's." After she finished her talk, Squall left to go back to his room to change into his school uniform. He was getting ready to go for an official SeeD exam.

"Squall, come over here." Quistis was standing in front of the directory.

"I'm going to announce the assignments for today's exam. Zell is an interesting person. Very vibrant."

"Loud is more like it. Can I switch members?"

"Sorry. No can do."

She then called over Zell. Squall doesn't care too much about Zell's energetic personality. He like the people around him to be silent. When Squall sees Zell for the first time, he came up in a burst of energy. Throwing punches in the air like a boxer. Seeing him annoy Squall. Zell had spiky blond hair with blue eyes. Most of the time, he usually in his SeeD uniform. But when he not in uniform, he likes to wear a black vest with a red decor down the zipper. His pants are baggy denim, and he wears tennis shoes in the color of red and black. He has a unique tribal tattoo on the side of his face. And to conclude the rest of his attire, he wears black fingerless glows. Zell walks up to Squall and wants to give him a handshake, but Squall folds his arms and looks to the side. Squall was not happy with him being on his team.

"So I heard that you got whipped by Seifer?"

"We were training." Squall rolled his eyes due to his remark."

"I bet you he doesn't think it that way." Squall could care less what Zell had to say about what happened between him and Seifer.

"Can we get back the issue at hand? The leader for your squad is the only one you all were so graciously talking about. No one other than Seifer." Squall and Zell's expression towards hearing that Seifer would be their leader was like having someone take chalk and drive against a chalkboard. He would the worse type of leader. Seifer only cared about himself and wasn't very particular about Squall. And neither was Squall of him. Zell hearing that Seifer would be in charged pissed him even more.

"Seifer, come over here." Seifer. We haven't been fully introduced to Seifer except for the spurts in Squall's dream. Seifer never amounts to anything because he is arrogant, stubborn, and reckless. Beside Squall, he too uses a gunblade for a weapon. The only difference in how they use it is Squall uses it will two hands, and Seifer uses it will one hand. Seifer is clearly a show-off. He had short blond hair with blue-green eyes. He has the same type of scar that Squall has across his face. He likes to wear white with a red cross. The difference between him and Squall is Squall likes to be alone, and Seifer hangs out with his crew. The crew is Raijin and Fujin. Seifer comes in with his 'posse,' tagging in from behind.

"You will the squad leader of this group." Seifer had a smug look on his face. He didn't be apart of this as much as Squall and Zell didn't want him to be apart.

"Good Luck, Seifer." Seifer hated when someone wishes him luck. He only believes people who were weak needed luck.

"Don't need it."

"Well, either way. I still want to tell you good luck."

"Add Instructor Trepe to the list." Squall thinking, what list does Seifer have that he is putting Quistis on it? Seifer was clearly trouble.

"You all will be on Squad B. I will be the instructor for this exam. Remember, teamwork is what you need to get through this exam." Seifer didn't want anyone else. Especially not Squall or Zell. For Seifer, teamwork to him met everyone staying out his way. The during their discussion, another voice starts speaking to them.

"I guess everyone that is supposed to here is here." The voice was the head of the school. Headmaster Cid Kramer. Cid, the founder of SeeD and the head of Balamb Garden, Cid oversee the school and the SeeD. So he has no other time to do anything else. Cid wears a burgundy vest with long sleeve white collar with a green tie plus brown trousers with black shoes. He had floppy brown hair with blue eyes and glasses.

"How's everyone doing? There will be 12 members from Squad A thru D. The exam will be a real battle, and it will be on a battlefield. So everyone up and ready for this? And if anything happens, 9 SeeD members will come along and help out. They what they're there for. Good luck!" After listening to Headmaster's little speech, Seifer and his 'posse' left. The Zell and Squall took off, too, to get ready for the exam. They went to the back car garage and hope into the car to head to the village over. Everyone was in the vehicle, just sitting, waiting to arrive at the next town. Zell was antsy and wanted Squall to show him his gunblade. All Squall wanted was some peace and quiet. Zell couldn't stand the quietness. So he got up and practiced his punches. Seifer became annoyed by him doing his punches, so he told him to stop. Then he called him a name.

"Chicken-wuss." That really pissed off Zell. He was ready to fight Seifer, but Quistis became the two of them.

"You two knock it off." Seifer laughed under his breath. While Quistis just shook her head having to deal with these kids. The Squall finally spoke to Quistis.

"Instructor...Do you know who that woman was in the infirmary this morning?"

"This morning. I don't remember seeing anyone. Is there a problem?"

"No. It's nothing." Squall put his head back and continue looking at the bottom of the floor in the car. He kept wondering who that woman was and how she knew him. Well, he couldn't worry about that right now. He needed to get prepare for this exam he was about to have. Then Seifer said a smart remark after Squall and Quistis's conversation.

"One is a chicken-wuss, and the other decides to reach puberty." The name really set Zell on fire, but Squall couldn't care less about what Seifer said. He only does that to make himself feel better. They reach the dock, and all get out of the car and head into the ship. As they were sitting, another lady comes in to greet them. She must be the head in charge of this particular exam. Her name was Xu. She is a SeeD instructor, and she is good friends with Quistis. The looks on her are average, long brunette hair with brown eyes. She wears a SeeD uniform: a black formal suit with gold and red accents, silver lapels, a red necktie, skirt, and knee-high black boots.

She gives an overview of today's exam.

"Today's mission involves the Dollet Dukedom Parliament. They requested us 18 hours ago. From what we know, Dollet has been under attack for 72 hours by G-Army. We know that 49 hours ago, Dollet abandons its position in the inner city. They have all gather and are in the mountains reorganizing their troops—that where they stand now. We will be landing at Lapin Beach. We're to eliminate what is left of the G-Army and liberate the city A.S.A.P. The other SeeD member will intercept any other G-Armys trying to invade the city from the mountain region." She finishes her briefing, and Seifer wants to know what their purpose was for this mission.

"Since you guys are candidates, you will eliminate the G-Army within the city." Zell thought this was cool, but knowing Seifer, he would try to make this difficult for everyone. The vessel has almost reached the beach. And Xu warns the candidates that the fighting on the beach had already started for them to be alert and ready. The moon was bright over the beach with airplanes going across it. They had finally reached their destination. This time it was for real. IT Squall finish the exam, he would be an official SeeD member.
