Chapter 4: Stepping into the mind of a genius

Chapter 4: Stepping into the mind of a genius

Precisely when the bell rang, another Ice cold beauty entered the classroom. A woman who is most probably in her 30s stood on the podium at the center front of the class as she put her things down before looking at us and introducing herself.

"Ahem. Good morning to you, students. I'm the instructor for Class D. My name is Chabashira Sae. I usually teach Japanese history. However, at this school, we do not change classrooms for each grade. For the next three years, I will be acting as your homeroom teacher, so I hope to get to know all of you. It's a pleasure to meet you. After I finished giving you all that you need, you're free to do whatever you want for the day.

She spoke with accuracy that makes you wonder how many times she has said those exact words already. Is she a robot? If she is, I'm willing to buy one.

Man, now that I think about it, maybe I have a thing for cold beauties...nah, it's still too early to think like that. I still haven't met that much of a variety of girls after all.

"First things first, I will distribute written materials with information about this school's special rules"

The students in the front seats passed back the familiar documents I'd

received after being accepted. By the way, the one infront of me is a boy with glasses...yeah, who cares about that.

This school differed from the multitude of other Japanese high schools

in a few key ways. Here, all students were required to live in dormitories

located on school premises. Also, except for special cases, such as studying

abroad, students were forbidden to contact anyone outside the school. Even

contact with your immediate family was forbidden without authorization.

Naturally, leaving school grounds without permission was also strictly

forbidden.

However, the campus also came equipped with many excellent

facilities. With its own karaoke spot, theater, café, boutique, and more, you

could easily compare this school to a small city. The campus spread over

more than 600,000 square meters.

This school boasted another unique feature: the S System

If I were to summarize all of this in to 2 words, then it would be "Fun things".

"I will now hand out your student ID cards. By using your card, you can

access any of the facilities on campus, purchase goods from the store, and so

on. It acts like a credit card. However, it is imperative that you pay attention

to the points that you spend. At this school, you can use your points to buy

anything. Anything located on the school premises is available for purchase."

'Anything located on the school premises is available for purchase huh. Now I'm starting to have a picture of what this school is all about.' I thought as a small smile appeared on my face.

Hearing that suspicious statement, I entered zone to analyze every info that I gained.

I was extremely doubtful when I heard that this school has a 100% employment rate. After all, even if the teachers here are the best, it still depends on the student wether he or she can actually keep up. Well, I can also just assume that they employ the students without much thought into it just to give the school some face but now that I heard this weird rules and the system, I'm starting to piece two and two together.

Although she never said it, with this school rules alone, you can already guess that only a specific group of students can be given the privilege of 100% employment rate.

Who are those people? Who else but the 3rd year class A graduates.

Coming to that conclusion, a question then will come to the surface: Is the students below Class A already doomed to not have that privilege from the very beginning?

Of course not. How is it not? Points-chan.

Judging from what sensei said, everything in this school revolves around points. In other words, it's even possible to buy your way up to class A. And considering that, ways to gather or lose them will be also available.

So that's what's unique about this school huh, I like it picasso.

Continuing what she's saying and interrupting my zone, she dropped a bomb.

"Your student cards can be used simply by swiping them through the

machine scanner. The method is simple, so you shouldn't get confused. Points are automatically deposited into your account on the first of every month. You should all have received 100,000 points already. Keep in mind that one point is worth one yen. No further explanation should be necessary."

The classroom erupted from the bomb that they received.

In other words, we had received a 100,000-yen monthly allowance

from the school upon admission.

Except for idiots, anyone would doubt that this amount would be given to students every single month for 3 whole years.

After all, even if this is a government sponsored school, it's still unthinkable for them to waste this much for mere students since hundreds of variables that can waste all those money in a single second exists.

So knowing that, my theory that a way to lose them will be available is now further cemented.

What are the things that can cause you to lose them? Obviously...

"Shocked by the amount of points you've been given? This school evaluates its students' talents. Everyone here has passed the entrance examination, which itself speaks to your value and potential. The amount you've received reflects the evaluation of your worth. You can use your points without restraint. After graduation, however, all of your points return to the school. Because it's impossible to exchange your points for cash, there's no advantage to saving them. Once points have been deposited into your account, it's up to you how to spend them. Do as you like. In the event

that you don't want to spend your points, you may transfer them to someone

else. However, extorting money from your peers is not allowed. This school

monitors bullying very carefully."

Man, this teacher really can't be honest, huh. Why can't she just directly say that the points that we will be getting is decided by our evaluations. Does the higher ups forbids that or something?

It can't be that she hates us so she deliberately just gave us hints, right? It's maybe something that is easy to decipher for people like me but it will definitely just fly over the heads of even the slightly capable students.

But with that, It's now clear why there's cctv cameras inside this classroom. That turned my mood a little down but whatever. I have to get used to them since I will be seeing those accursed things for 3 whole years.

"Any questions?"

Hearing her question, I looked at everybody in my class waiting for someone to start the Q & A. Seeing that no one intends to ask, I turned to my neighbour as I asked her with my gaze.

Sensing my gaze, she just raised one of her eyebrows as I sighed in disappointment.

With so much unsolved mysteries, there's a high chance that one of the deciding factors of how much money we will receive at the end of the month is the overall evaluation of the class.

After all, we are a "class". The school should've also considered maintaining the essence of that word even a little bit.

Even though my hypothesis implies that the system is an individual merit based, there could still be many hidden details that this teacher of ours didn't tell so I still can't be too sure of that. For example, does being in class D means that the amount you have to pay to raise to class A is higher than B and C? That's just one of the many crucial unanswered questions.

If the system of the calculation of the money that they will give to students is individual based, then it's all good since I'm 100% certain that I can gain perfect results therefore maintaining the points that I would get at the start of the month.

However, if it's a "one for all, all for one" type of system, then I have no doubts that the money I will receive will be reduced by a lot. Just looking at my classmates who is already listing all the things that they will buy with the money that they received excitedly and without even thinking a bit is already enough for a proof.

That can't happen at all. No one have the rights to steal anything that is mine.

Coming to a conclusion on what I should do, I looked at the teacher as she got ready to go seeing that no one raised their hand.

"Well, it appears no one has any ques-"

"Sae-chan." I called out to her.

And with me calling out to her and the name that I called her with, attention immediately gathered towards me as I smiled and asked a very normal question.

"Can I buy you?"
