13 Dragon Slaughter

A Week Later

Following a trail of destroyed villages, Gilgamesh located the first dragon's nest. He breathed deeply in an out trying to calm his mind as he neared his target.

Gilgamesh's new powers seemed to come naturally. On his journey, he practiced his new skills. Among the newfound abilities was the skill to form semi-permanent structures but in almost no time he increased his ability and he was able to build permanent structures which were almost unbreakable.

Gilgamesh now stood in the darkness of night but he could see clear as day. Besides his improved vision, his hearing also developed to such a degree that he could pick up even the slightest sound from the movement of an insect on the ground to the rustling of branches in the trees.

He was adorned with iridescent red-gold armor. The armor was made from a material that had been first shown by their living Gods.

Gilgamesh wore clawed gauntlets which acted as a weapon in their own right. They were made of a similar material than the armor. His gauntlet covered hands gripped the sword. The sword had an intricate exterior, a golden pommel and a partially serrated edge with an extreme point.

Any human would be surprised by its elegant and dangerous look. The sword's appearance alone could strike fear in any enemy.

He peered out and saw 10 dragons nestling together telling each other tales of their "adventures."

He heard one of the smaller, more vocal ones say, " I was ripping this woman limb from limb when this human just came out of nowhere and wanted to attack me with a sword. Those pitiful humans just don't know their place. We'll just have to teach them." The young dragon spoke about the horror with joy. His sentences were interrupted by casual laughter. His tone and demeanor spoke of the obvious hate and disregard for humans.

As the dragons discussed their latest exploits, Gilgameshes facial expression twisted and a torrent of rage began to run wild through his psyche.

Then another larger dragon began telling the group, "Then at the end of the raid there was this woman standing in front of her house. You should have seen her. Total terror in her eyes and the way her mouth hung open in disbelief. It was so delicious."

Another slightly bigger dragon asked, "What did you do?"

"I burned her to ashes, of course. I heard her screams cut off far too fast for my liking. The next time, I will kill them much slower. It is such a joy seeing them whimper and scream before they burn."

At this, Gilgamesh could bear it no longer. As he walked, the ground seemed to shudder and his desire to kill the dragons seemed limitless. The trees seemed to lean away from him in fear, the grass seemed to shrivel grey in his vicinity, and the birds and beasts nearby ran away as fast as they could.

Initially, as the dragons saw a humanoid form approach they chuckled at the thought to play with and kill another one. Their laughter quickly turned to fear as they saw the intense killing desire in the eyes of the human. With fright, they realized, they faced their executioner.

Initially, they were confounded by the idea that a human approaching them could kill them. This small hesitation was a mistake. Even before the little dragon took another breath, Gilgamesh had covered the distance between him and the dragon and within a second, using his enormous strength, he cut the young dragon's head off.

As he took off the dragons head, his blade absorbed the essence of the dead dragon. This caught him by surprise but he didn't have time to think about it too long. He turned to the next dragon and screamed in rage.

"You Are Next !"
