Chapter 65: First Ultrasound

"You know, from what I have read, I wasn't expecting you to start getting f-, showing just yet. I mean you are only eight weeks yesterday and you can't button up your skinny jeans." Mei said from the desk chair as she eyed the struggling blonde getting dressed before her. They were preparing to go to Yuzu's first ultrasound, and as confused as Mei was as to why she could already see a difference in her wife's waistline, found the sight of Yuzu trying to force the button of her jeans closed quite amusing.

"I'm not getting fat, Mei! Don't be so horrible..." Yuzu defended herself as she released the front of her trousers, it was only an inch or so, but they just wouldn't fit! With a low growl, she plodded back to the wardrobe to see what else she could wear.

"Apologies, I didn't mean to be. I was only making the point that I wasn't expecting you to start showing for a few weeks, it's not a bad thing at all." Speaking softly, Mei placed a gentle kiss to Yuzu's rosy cheek before reaching for some leggings.

"Here, wear these," Mei said with a smile as she offered the fabric to the blonde who gave a small smile of her own in return, though clearly still disheartened by her new discovery.

The short conversation was cut short as Mei's phone rang, breaking the silence of the room.

"Excuse me," Mei's smile widened for a moment offering another kiss to the blonde's cheek before fetching her phone from the desk, brow furrowing when she saw her grandfather's id.

"Hello, Grandfather?" Mei said, her voice now monotone once again. Part of her knew what the call was for, but she wanted to believe that her grandfather would heed to her wishes and not call her today; She had plans. Mei stood in silence for a few minutes as she listened to the spur of words the elderly man threw down the phone.

"I don't understand why they require me to be there, I posted the documents to you last week in preparation for my absence?" A frown slowly started to form on the young Aihara's face as she pinched the bridge of her nose at the man's words. Why was it these documents failed to arrive the one time she couldn't attend?

"Surely the meeting can go ahead without this information and can be discussed at a later date?" Her cold turn must have been evident as she felt Yuzu shuffle uncomfortably behind her, dressed in her leggings; the jeans thrown on the floor in a huff.

"Please do not use such things against me, I gave prior warnings that I would not be available today to come down for the meeting... I know this deal is important, however so are my plans today." Mei's voice rose slightly and she tried to control her rising anger at her grandfather. She knew she was the next heir to the academy and all the business that came with it. She knew this meeting was the make or break for their potential new partners and the international exchange program they had been setting up for months. She knew this meeting was vital, she also knew the potential business partners would be arriving at noon that day.

But Yuzu and their family were more important. Mei was acutely aware of Yuzu's worries for their child, no, all the worries that came with becoming a parent. Yuzu needed her support. That, and Mei finally wanted to see the little one she had been saying goodnight to for the past month.

The slightly harsher words that sat at the tip of her tongue were stopped as Yuzu placed a hand on her shoulder, turning her around.

"Mei it's alright, you can get the train down to Gramps and you should get there in time. It's fine really. I know this is really important to the academy, you need to go. I can go to the ultrasound by myself, I'm sure everything is perfectly alright and I can tell you all about it when you get back tonight." Yuzu's soft understanding smile broke a little bit of Mei. She felt a pang in her chest as Yuzu gave her that sweet smile, putting others before herself as always.

"Grandfather, I gave prior warning of my absence and as unfortunate as the situation is I won't be in attendance, I will re-send the documents for our guests to review late-" Mei's stern words were cut off as Yuzu pulled the phone from her grasp, rolling her eyes as she did so.

"Hiya Gramps, It's Yuzu... I'm doing great thanks and the baby is doing fine too," A genuine smile took over the blonde's lips as she listened to the man on the phone, his tone obviously different to how he had addressed Mei.

"Everything is fine, Mei will be there for the meeting, she should get there.. at about half eleven... I'm sure, don't worry. Thank you and same to you," And with that Yuzu hung up and tossed the phone to the double bed before eyeing Mei.

"You ignored me." Yuzu grumbled as she crossed her arms. The look Mei wore mirroring her words.

"You, and meeting our child is more important to me, Yuzu. Is it wrong of me to put yous before a meeting I had already said two weeks ago I would not be able to attend?" Her words holding no real bite to them, Mei asked as she retrieved her phone as she tutted slightly.

"It means the world to me that you are willing to do that for us Mei, but you have been working non stop with Gramps and Papa the past few weeks for this, missing one appointment could throw all that down the drain, and for what? One appointment?... I can get pictures of them for you and I'll tell you all about it when you're back, I promise, but you do need to go to this meeting. You don't have a choice." Yuzu said with a smile, part of her did feel bad for going against Mei, but she clearly wasn't thinking straight.

Mei was silent for a moment longer, she too knew Yuzu was right. It wasn't logical for her to miss such an important meeting for a half-hour appointment.

"Fine." Taking Yuzu's cheek in the palm of her hand, Mei pressed a fluttering kiss to the blonde's lips, her eyes soft as she looked at the emerald orbs.

"I just don't want you to think I put work or business or the academy above you, and certainly not our little one. I want to be there to support you," Mei whispered, the words catching slightly in her throat as she glanced away from the blonde's gaze a moment.

"Don't be silly Mei, I know I mean the world to you and i know how much you wanted to go to this with me, but it's alright. The next train to Tokyo leaves in twenty minutes, you'll need to get that one if you want to be there on time, You should get changed quickly so you don't miss it."

Giving a slight nod, clearly still not happy with the arrangement, Mei pulled out of the blonde's embrace to get changed into more formal attire.

It was safe to say Yuzu was more than shocked when she had entered the hospital. It was huge, not a thing out of place and was entirely different from the clinic she had been attending. Just approaching the front desk she felt slightly out of place in her casual attire, but with her name given she was taken straight to a private room before a doctor was brought to see her.

Why she had spent the last few years of her life sitting in a grubby waiting area when she could of been having this treatment boggled her, but a smile crept onto her face as she thought of Mei making the arrangements.

"So, this is your first scan?" The woman beside Yuzu gave a smile with her question as she prepped the monitor. Yuzu gave a nod as she raised her shirt to expose her stomach.

"Well, I'm sure you know roughly how this is going to go. I'm going to put some of this on your stomach, it'll be cold to start with and the image should appear on the monitor here." Doing as she spoke, Yuzu let out a small gasp as the cold gell hit her stomach and she saw the doc give a small smile to her reaction as she began to scan her stomach.

"Alright, so I'm just looking for a heartbeat now, do you know roughly how far along you are?" Glancing at Yuzu as she spoke, she began moving the prob over the blonde's exposed skin.

"I should be eight weeks and one day," Yuzu said and gave a nervous chuckle at the raised brow she received at the specific date.

"My partner and I, there was only one day where I could've gotten pregnant, so I've been going off that date.." Yuzu said, a blush threatening to spread over her cheeks, as though it wasn't obvious just how she had gotten pregnant.

"Alright then, let's see what we have here... You seem to be right on the mark I would say," Hold the probe steady, the doctor gestured to the monitor, pointing at the image.

"Here they are, head, and body" As she removed her hand from the monitor, the silence caused her to look at the early mother and seeing her eyes wide as they were locked onto the moving image.

"Hi," Was all Yuzu managed to stutter out, she hadn't expected to feel so happy when seeing their little one for the first time, but she couldn't get over the black and white image of their unborn. That was until the image became distorted as the doctor began moving the probe around her stomach again.

"Is something wrong?" Yuzu asked, her panic starting to rise at the slight look of concentration on the woman face as she watched the screen.

The silence lasted longer than Yuzu would have liked, and with no answer to her question, she was nearly going to repeat herself until the doctor stopped the probe again, this time at a different spot on her abdomen. Looking back to the monitor, Yuzu smiled resurfaced as she saw her baby in a slightly different position.

"Nothing is wrong," Pointing back to the monitor, the woman smiled again, "Looks as though they've got a sibling. Congratulations, you're having twins." She spoke softly, and the stunned expression on Yuzu's face was probably enough to make her laugh. Though she held it back.

"T-Twins? As in there are two babies inside my belly?" Yuzu stuttered as she studied the image with disbelief. She knew full well what twins meant, but she had never expected she was carrying them.

"Correct, though every woman is different, it is likely why you are showing early."

The conversation continued for a little longer as Yuzu recovered from her daze and greeted the second baby within her. And soon she was leaving the hospital with two images in her purse. One for baby A and one for baby B.

And although she felt silly, Yuzu couldn't wipe the grin off her face as she walked the street back to their apartment. And as she skipped into the front door, she couldn't suppress her jump of excitement.

"We're having twins!" A giggle erupted from her chest as she flicked her shoes off. Yuzu was aware Mei wasn't back yet, she wasn't expecting her to be home for a while, but this burst of excitement needed to be let out as she skipped into the house.

Part of her wanted to call Mei straight away, but thought better of it, believing it better to tell her this evening when she was home.

Checking her phone as she settled on the couch, Yuzu lit up at a message from Mei marked as fifteen minutes ago.

How did the appointment go, is everything alright? XX

Grinning as she typed out the message, Yuzu's grin widened when the message was read after less than a minute and a response followed.

'It went A-okay everything is perfect, no need to worry! Hope your meeting is going good? xxx'

I'm relieved to hear that, I do hope you got pictures for me to see when i am home. The meeting is going as planned. I have to go now, but I'll be home for around six. I love you xx

Flopping back into the cushions of the couch, Yuzu sent a quick message back assuring she had gotten the pictures and she would see Mei soon, before lying on her back propped up against the arm of the couch and lifted her shirt. Gently running her fingers over the smooth stretch of skin, Yuzu's grin faded to a soft smile.

"Hi little guys," Talking in a sweet tone as she continued to rub her stomach, Yuzu smiled ever so slightly bright as she said 'guys', the knowledge that she was carrying two children baffled her but felt natural as she rubbed the small bump. Yuzu knew this routine and knew she would likely spend the next while talking to her stomach.

It was a little past five when Yuzu opened her eyes. She was still lying on the couch, belly still exposed and hand resting gently across it. crap I didn't mean to fall asleep. What time is it...

Shuffling to a sitting position as she reached for her phone, Yuzu let her worries crumble away as she lifted herself from the couch and moved to the kitchen to begin preparing dinner for the two, Mei would be home soon and she couldn't wait to tell her the good news.

Yuzu jumped from her seat at the dining table when she heard the click of the front door followed by Mei's gentle 'Yuzu, I'm home'. Getting up from her seat, Yuzu came face to face with a tired-looking Mei, though in her three-piece suit she still looked greatly attractive to Yuzu, so much so that she let a lustful grin appear on her lips as she eyed the tight material.

"Did you not get a good enough look before I left this morning?" Raising her brow at the look on the blonde's face, Mei felt satisfied when she saw a familiar blush spread across the girl's cheeks.

"Y-You know I like you dressed like that.." Yuzu gave a slight stutter as her eyes didn't falter. Her vision was brought upwards as Mei made up the distance between the two.

"Well, I guess when I take over the academy you'll be spoiled rotten." Giving a somewhat playful smile, Mei pressed her lips to the blondes as her hands came to rest on the girl's hips, thumbs rubbing the outermost part of her stomach.

Her tone changing to a caring one, mei released the lips and glanced downwards before meeting Yuzu's eye again.

"Are you alright? I know you have been worried about this appointment for a while now and I truly am sorry I wasn't able to be there for you today."

"I'm perfect! The appointment went great and i even got the pictures for you." Yuzu said as she broke away from Mei's grasp to retrieve her bag. She had given some thought into how she planned to tell Mei the news, eventually coming to the conclusion she would present both pictures and tell her then.

"Here," Yuzu offered the two images to Mei and watched in adoration as the Aihara's eyes lit up at the sight, her finger tracing the outline of their child as her smile grew.

"I'm glad you got several images of them, we can keep these in a safe place where they won't get damaged at all," Mei's voice, slightly chipper as she didn't remove her eyes from the pictures, that was until Yuzu wrapped an arm around her waist and pointed to each of the images.

"'Them' is right," Yuzu waited until Mei looked at her, slightly confused at her wording.

Pointing to the top image then the bottom Yuzu smiled. "We have baby A, and baby B. We're having twins Mei," Keeping her excited tone hidden, Yuzu spoke softly as she watched the flabbergasted look on Mei's face.

"Twins?!" Mei turned to Yuzu, shock and excitement laced her face as much it had her own several hours ago. Nodding her head quickly at the question, Yuzu let out a shriek as Mei pulled her into a tight hug, squeezing the air from her lungs.

"That's amazing news, Yuzu!" Mei's unusually loud burst of happiness was just about as shocking to the bonded as the words leaving her lips. She wasn't sure how she had expected Mei to take the news; it was double the work, double the money to purchase everything, just double everything!

Peppering several kisses in between her smiles to the blonde's lips, Mei could see the relief in the blonde's eyes as she grinned back at her.

"We are going to have twins, " Mei repeated the words as she let the information kick in, her smile never leaving as her eyes danced with joy and gripped the blonde's shoulders.

"We're having twins," Cupping the pale cheeks in her hands, Yuzu pressed her lips to Mei's. Taking her in a much longer kiss, much stronger as she pressed herself fully into the woman before her, so much so that Mei felt the couch press against the back of her thighs. Yuzu was gripping at the collar of her freshly pressed t-shirt, crumpling the fabric within her grasp, but not caring as she felt Mei kissing back with just the same amount of passion.

A giggle sounded from Yuzu as she pushed a little harder against Mei and soon felt them falling over the back of the couch into a heap on the cushions, Yuzu breaking the kiss as she propped herself up onto Mei's chest.

"Yuzu, be careful," Mei's harsh words came carefree as she brought her hand up to tuck several strands of blonde locks behind the blonde's ear. A comfortable silence took the room for a few moments as Yuzu sat on top of Mei's torso, eyes locked on eachother.

"The meeting went as good as we could have hoped for, we are having twins and my wife is as beautiful as ever. I don't know what more I could ask for," Mei said in a quiet voice as she watched an even bigger smile break over the face just inches above her own.

"You're so cute Mei," Yuzu said before pressing her smiling lips back down to Mei's, relaxing into the feeling of the fingers running against her scalp and through her hair.

"God I love you, Mei. I know we are young and all of this is happening super fast, but I wouldn't wish it any other way." Sitting up on Mei's stomach, Yuzu pulled the shirt from her body, tossing it to the floor as she watched Mei take in the sight of her bare chest. It had been a few days since they had taken anything this far; Mei had been swamped with work and Yuzu had spent her time studying or fretting about her 'baby'. Leaving both, but mainly the blonde, in anything but the mood.

"I could say the exact same thing," After a moment of appreciation for the partially naked form in front of her, Mei wrapped an arm around the blonde's neck bringing her back in and connecting their lips in another fierceful kiss.

It was but minutes before Mei felt Yuzu move the pair to lie longways on the couch, and felt the blonde start grinding her hips to Mei's from in between her legs.

Seeing where Yuzu planned to take this, Meu released the lips to make its common track down the side of Yuzu's neck. The small gasps that filled the air at her open-mouthed kisses filled Mei with a burning desire to keep going.
