Chapter 59: It's Positive

The past week or so Yuzu was nervous when around her, had had a number of outbursts, spent three days out with Harumi and turned down sex at every opportunity; It seemed she was actively avoiding it. Well, to be fair it seemed as though she was just avoiding Mei.

Mei had initially thought Yuzu was just hormonal with her period, she sometimes got like that but it was rare. But she had given Yuzu the space she needed, but Mei had finished her period six days ago which meant that the blonde should have been finished hers as well. And yet she was still being emotional.

They had only been officially married a little over a month, she didn't think they would be having issue already. They had literally only just come back from their honeymoon two weeks ago, this should definitely not be happening.

Mei shuffled nervously into the room as she watched Yuzu sit on the edge of the bed, wiping a tear from her cheek.

"Are you going to tell me what this is all about? I can't help if you keep walking away you know," Her words were soft as she came to sit by the blonde who didn't react fully to her words.

"W-Would you still love me if I was fat?" Wiping her nose on her sleeve, Yuzu looked up at Mei with hope and something Mei thought looked like desperation in her eyes when she spoke.

"Hey, where is all this coming from? You know I love your body and I don't think you are overweight in the slightest, even if you did gain some weight that wouldn't change my feelings for you," Mei said as she tried to wrap her arm around the blonde's shoulder but it was brushed off.

"'Some'? So if I gained a lot of weight and couldn't see my feet or bend over you wouldn't love me any more?!" Yuzu stood up as she paced the room, tears prickling at the back of her eyes and on the verge of spilling over.

Chinese food. All Mei had asked was if she wanted extra noodles with her dish. She always ordered extra noodles. But it suddenly became an issue of Yuzu's weight? Mei was so lost. They were finally sitting down together to watch a movie after what had felt like a few days of passing by each other in the flat, and now this was happening?

Running her hand through her hair Mei stayed perched on the side of the bed, "Yuzu... I don't know what you want me to say? I love you and we just took vows to be with each other through everything, if you gained weight in our relationship I can't say how I might react but I would never stop loving you because of it. If this is about dinner... You don't need to worry about thinking you're fat, you can order whatever you like with me," Mei hoped she sounded reassuring and as collected as she wanted to be, their marriage had only just begun and having arguments this early was not something she wanted for them.

Yuzu reached out her arms to Mei who quickly stood and took the blonde in her arms, holding her in a tight grasp as they swayed lightly in the room. Yuzu was crying into the younger's neck as she gripped tightly onto the back of Mei's shirt.

"I don't want to get fat or lose my body! I don't want to be in pain and I don't want to disappoint you, Mei," Yuzu cried loudly, she was practically hiccuping at this point while trying to speak.

"Yuzu you won-" Mei, however, was cut off before she could finish. Yuzu pushed herself out of her arms to look her in the eye when she spoke, her voice trembling, eyes still watering.

"I'm pregnant Mei,"

The words were a whisper in the air and it certainly seemed to suck the life out of Mei as she stood unmoving in the bedroom. Yuzu could tell by looking into the violet eyes Mei's mind was running a hundred miles an hour. Where? When? How? They were always careful, but obviously not careful enough as Mei could tell what Yuzu was saying was not a word of a lie.

Our wedding night, I didn't take the pill we were too caught up with everything, but I took it the next day...

Mei's mind wandered for several more seconds before Yuzu spoke up, she didn't think Mei would piece this together on her own. She did still think she was on the pill.

"I-I stopped taking the pill over a year ago because you always took, it there was no need for me to, but I never thought that You would forget to take it, and then my period was late and then it never came and I started to panic so I took a test about a week ago that said positive! Ever since I found out I can't stop panicking Mei! We were drinking on our holiday and I started thinking what if I've hurt our baby? Then when I asked you about children the other day you said you didn't think now was the right time and I got even more stressed. I know this is all my fault! I'm sorry Mei!"

Yuzu's rushed words seemed to pull Mei out of her own thoughts as she took in the information. Yuzu's hands were shaking with nerves, she was crying and trying to avoid direct eye contact with Mei as her raised voice filled the room.

Warm arms enveloped her as she stood shivering in the room, and Yuzu felt Mei leave a warm kiss on the side of her head as she brought her in close for a cuddle.

"Hey, hey, calm down okay. This isn't anyone's fault, I'm not mad or disappointed, very surprised but that's not a bad thing. When I said I didn't think we were ready for kids all I meant was... nevermind, that doesn't matter because we are here now and we are dealing with this." Mei was trying to stay calm and comforting but she really wanted to grab the blonde in her arms and twirl her round in joy, but she wouldn't say anything of the sort until she figured out just what Yuzu wanted to do.

"It's your body, I love you now even if that means with children and I will still love you if you don't want this. I will drive you down to the appointment and we'll do it together. We can do whatever you like," Mei stroked the puffy red cheeks with her thumbs when she peeled herself ever so slightly away from Yuzu to look at her.

"I-I can't get rid of one of our children Mei, but look at us? We are still living in this tiny apartment, both still in university, in a year I am going to have to start medicine, where does that leave our lives?" Yuzu who was slightly calmer now, spoke and the stress of her thoughts of the past week flooded her and the threat of tears returned.

"We'll buy or rent out a house big enough for our family, you can decide what medical school you want to go to and I'll transfer to the closest university so we can both be close to home. We'll figure this out, but you need to take a break. We are going to do this, you don't have to stress or be worried, we will be just fine." Mei smiled softly to the blonde, pressing her lips to Yuzu's after a moment longer.

Slipping her hand beneath the sweatshirt Yuzu was currently wearing, Mei pressed her palm to the bottom of her stomach and a large smile spread across her lips.

"Hi," It was lighthearted and Yuzu was slightly shocked at both the look of contentment on Mei's face and the sound of her voice as she addressed the growing baby inside her. It was soft, caring and full of happiness yet protective.

Bringing her arms up and around Mei's neck Yuzu pulled her down for an even tighter hug as she tried to express her joy and relief through the action.

"I love you, Mei," Yuzu sighed as she rested her head against the girl's chest.

"I love you too Yuzu, and the baby in your belly," Mei said, her hands having a tight, protective grip around Yuzu's waist as she let the blonde rest against her.
