3 Fairy Godmother

Nayon looked into the empty bedroom in her dorm. She was still sitting in her bedroom. Her bedroom and Heyho and Somsom's room were facing each other.

No. The empty bedroom was no longer their bedroom. It was Heyho and Somsom's former bedroom. They were moving out of this dorm yesterday. Nayon even helped Somsom packing her baggage.

Nayon still remembered the girls cried with her. She wished they wouldn't leave her. However, as an aspiring idol, Nayon knew this was a once in a lifetime chance for those girls.

She still remembered what she said.

"Congratulations! Unnie will support your girls!" That was what she said with a forced smile.

Nayon started to feel her cheek wet again. Her eyesight was blurred. She couldn't stop herself from crying again.

Out of pity, the company agreed to rent the dorm for her while they were looking for new female trainees. She would only need to find another apartment after the new trainee recruitment 2 months later.

"Ring... Ring... Ring..."

A ringtone woke Nayon from her empty eyes. She had been watching the empty room since this morning.

Nayon looked into her smartphone. A face full of wrinkles and a huge smiled appeared on the phone screen. There was a young Nayon being hugged next to the old woman.

Nayon used her hand to remove the trace of the tear in her face. She answered the phone call.

"Grandma..." Nayon answered.

"How are you my dear Nayon?" Nayon heard a slow and soft voice from the other side.

"I am fine." Nayon tried her best not to cry. She didn't want to tell her grandmother about her failure.

"Have you eaten?"

"Um..." Nayon looked into the alarm clock on the table. It was already 12.15.

"You should take care of your body. Chasing a dream is fine. However, being healthy is more important."

"Yes, Grandma." Nayon softly said.

"Grandma always wished your dream comes true."

"It will grandma."

"Now, quickly eat. Do not train non-stop!"

"Yes, Grandma. How about you? Grandma has eaten?"

"Of course, Suni next door always cooked for this old woman."

"Say my thanks for Suni Unnie."

"Yes. Grandma will. Take care my dear Nayon!"

"Take care grandma! Nayon loves you." Nayon couldn't stop her cries after she pressed the red button.

She cried until she felt her eyes were heavy. Nayon fell asleep after that.

Nayon woke up when she felt hungry. She didn't follow a schedule today.

[This is empty.] Nayon felt. She missed the angry teacher when she made a mistake. She missed the need for extra practices. She missed the cool sunbaes and unnies. She missed the lazy Somsom, the diligent Heyho, and the stingy Kimha.

Nayon was alone now. She looked at the clock on her smartphone. [19.00.]

Nayon dragged her body out of the bed. She didn't need to go to the minimarket this week because she had requested a temporary leave.

Nayon went to the sink in the toilet. She washed her face with the clear water.

[This is ugly.] She looked into her disheveled hair. Her eyes were even red and swelled.

"Nayon, you need to gather yourself. You want to become an idol, right?"

"This is not the end for you. There are thousand entertainment companies in the city."

"You will become an idol who stood on the peak."

Nayon said to the girl on the mirror. She cheered herself.

Nayon turned the knob on the shower. She took a bath and washed her hairs. It wasn't in her dictionary to surrender. She had been rejected 5 times before. [I will find a new company soon.]

She wanted to buy some food from the minimarket, but she couldn't face Jack, Tahe, or other friends in the minimarket. At least, not when she was this low. She didn't even look into their chat messages.

Nayon went outside her dorm. She took her dorm key and locked the door.

This time, she felt her feet were heavy. She didn't have the energy to step down from the apartment.

Nayon forced herself and find a local cafeteria. She ordered a bowl of noodle and a hot barley tea.

Nayon started to eat her noodle. It was hot yet it was the warmth that she needed.

The next day, Nayon wore her best dress and her best makeup. She had learned some basic makeup tips from the Utube.

In her hand, there were some resumes that she would submit. It took her 2 days for her to submit her resume to some medium and small entertainment companies. She knew it was hard for a 20 years old trainee to join one the big companies.

1 week after that Nayon was waiting in her dorm. She had worked again in the minimarket. She needed the work to remove her from her loneliness. She also got Tahe, Jack, and other workers who supported her.

She even went to sleep over in Tahe's apartment last night.

"Tring..." She received a new email.

She looked into the email on her phone.

"Thank you for your interest in our company's trainee program. Unfortunately, our company doesn't have any plan for a recruitment in the near future. Bright Eyes Entertainment HR Department."

"It is rejected again." Nayon replied with a thankful reply before deleting the e-mail.

This was the 20 companies that rejected her. Most companies already had their own trainees. She was also a bit too old for being a trainee.

There were a few who accepted her, but the managers asked her to do an unreasonable thing. She didn't want to do that.

One asked her to become a girlfriend of the manager. The other was directly asked her for sexual favors.

"Is this the end of my dream?" She turned her smartphone screen off.

Nayon decided to prepare herself. She needed to work in the minimarket.

It was 22.00 when she returned to the dorm. She had eaten minimarket's food. [I missed Heyho's simple cooking.] Nayon thought.

She had heard the girls were busy practicing for their debut. They would have their debut in 3 months.

Nayon took the key from her pocket and inserted it into the keyhole.

She entered the dorm, closed the door, and threw her body to the bed.

"Should I return to the village?" She looked into the lamp on the ceiling. Nayon remembered Tahe's webtoon today. In the story, Cinderella met the Fairy Godmother.

[Where is my fairy Godmother?] She laughed.

"It seems wishes never come true." She talks to herself.
