Rafaela didn't want to admit that she was already feeling rather exhausted only three days into the first week, but she couldn't help turning to Brendan and asking rather blearily, "What?"

Brendan repeated a little blankly, "This station Security report says that Elektra Donatella is claiming that Corso Donatella was replaced."

Rafaela sat up straighter as a jolt of adrenaline hit her system. "No!" she protested instinctively even as the possibility sank through her like fact.

Brendan explained rather grimly, as though he could hear the questions that she should have been asking, "SkyWater is one of the top ten, but it has only existed for a couple of decades. It has never had the kind of safeties in place that older corporations carry."

"Elektra is its head," Rafaela objected. "Shouldn't they have targeted her instead?!"

"Maybe they wanted her to remain SkyWater's head," he suggested grimly, even as his fingers flashed through menus at his wrists.
