125 C: Span of Light

Over six months passed before Rafaela and Brendan had their first real fight.

It took them both by surprise, mostly because it was over something inconsequential. Despite that, neither of them were willing to yield.

Perhaps it seemed so inconsequential that they each felt it shouldn't be so difficult for someone who cared about them to adapt. Or perhaps the isolation of their environment, trapped in a tiny cabin almost a quarter of a light year from their home system, caused them both to take it far more seriously than they might have otherwise.

However, they were both rational individuals, and wanted their marriage to be successful, even if it had started as a race. Once they realized that they weren't just having a minor disagreement, they each stepped back, and stopped trying to convince the other. They gave themselves room, and split their days into shifts.
