~Welcome Home~

"Hey little bro! How you been pal?", I said, knowing it would piss him off.

He glared at me, rage of the last 200 years in his eyes.

"200 years I've been waiting for you to stop running. Ironic I'll be killing you right where it started 200 years ago."

I smirked, "200 years of tag and you finally got me. I'm it."

My brothers face twisted a bit. I must of pissed him off. Before I could get another word out, he stabbed me in the stomach with a knife. Since I haven't eaten in a while the pain was almost unbearable. The stab wound burned and stung, I was trying to hold on to my facade. As I went to speak blood dripped out of my mouth. I was too weak to try and escape, this wound would take forever to heal without blood.

"Hard to make jokes when you're choking on your own blood isn't it?", my brother said.

Right as he was about to go in again with the knife, there was a knock at my apartment door. I heard a familiar voice.

"Ian? It's Evelyn, you weren't answering your phone and I got concerned.", she said in her cheery voice.

My heart sank to my stomach. She couldn't be here, not now. I tried with all my strength to break the chains, it was a pitiful effort. My brother smirked.

"Who's the girl at your door? Your girlfriend? It would be rude for you to not introduce me. Let me get the door."

I tried to yell but he jammed the knife into my throat. I could barley breath and was struggling to say awake. I had to get out of this chair, he was going to kill her.

-Evelyn-

The door spontaneously opened. It was eerily silent, when I turned the corner into the living room I saw him. He was chained to a chair and blood was everywhere, Ian was stabbed twice. Once in the throat and another in the stomach. I rushed over to him but got stopped immediately by a man with dark hair and a sharp jawline, he had the stature of a lineman.

"Hello, my name is Jace. It appears as though my brother failed to introduce me earlier, it's a pleasure to meet a delicate flower such as you.", he said and kissed my hand.

I was appalled. Did Ians brother do this to him?

"Who the hell do you think you are? Chaining up and torturing your own brother? You're the fucking monsters I thought vampires were.", I yelled.

Jace's smirk turned into a frown, "now little girl that isn't the way to speak to something the could snap your neck in a second is it?"

I grabbed a knife from the table next to me and whipped it around to stab him in the side. He grabbed it and shoved me against the wall, and quickly deflected the knife to my throat. In the corner of my eyes I saw Ian try to break free with all his might. His mouth opened as if to scream but only bloody gurgles came out.

"A pretty girl like you would look pretty even without the head attached wouldn't it?, Jace said. He started digging the knife into my throat.

I refused to wince, or show weakness. Instead I spit in his face.

"You little bitch, I'll kill you right…",Jace was abruptly cut off and I watched his blood stain my shirt. Ian had stabbed him in the chest. He dropped to the floor. Immediately after Jace fell Ian followed suite.

I quickly came to Ian's aide. For a vampire he didn't look too good at all. I coaxed him a little further away from his brother, though it seemed to take every bit of strength he had.

"I thought vampires had super healing ability or something?"

Despite his current state he smirked a bit.

"We need to get out of here, you have to get up.", I said.

He's shook his head no. I honestly don't know what in my right mind thought he could move like this. He attempted to form a word but it was being muffled by the blood. After a minute of trying to understand, I knew what he needed.

"Blood", he grumbled.

I knew what I had to do. I grabbed the knife and drew it horizontally across my wrist. Then I placed it up to his mouth and gestured for him to drink. He seemed appalled by the idea, but eventually he did. I expected fangs, or at least a bite. But instead it almost a sucking gesture, it tickled and I almost wanted to retract my arm.

Almost immediately he started to look better. His throat was healing and presumably his stomach wound also. But despite his improved state he wasn't stopping. I started to feel a bit dizzy and stumbled a bit. Immediately he stopped to support me. It was as though he had to come to his senses. He felt stronger than ever before, and his eyes seemed brighter, almost cheerful.

"We're getting you away from here", Ian said. He grabbed me by my waist and lifted me up. Almost immediately my vision began to go black, and there was a ringing in my ears. He was speaking to me but I couldn't make out the words exactly. I think he said,

"Evelyn…. Sorry… my fault…. Hold on…. Get… hospital…", the words were fading in and out. The world went black.

I awoke in a hospital. My uncle and sister were in chairs next to my bed.

"Evelyn I'm so glad you're okay!", Alec said. "What the hell happened?"

I saw Ian standing in the corner. He looked upset to see me like this.

"I must of gotten caught up with some street burglar. I don't exactly remember much of what happened."

My sisters eyes were red, she was crying, I motioned her to me. "Sis, come here."

She ran her and hugged me, and the tears started pouring.

" I can't lose you", she sobbed. "You're all I have left."

A tear fell from my eye. "I'm not going anywhere, I'll always be here no matter what." I continued to embrace her. If I get tangled up in this lifestyle I have to be careful. Ari would be devastated without me.
