4 ~Family Reunions~

After watching a few episodes of my sisters favorite show, I decided to text Ian. I wanted to see him.

Me: Hey, can I see you at the park?

*30 minutes later*

Me: You usually answer right away? What's going on in vamp world lol!

* 2 hours later*

Me: Text me when you can, getting kinda worried

He always answered me to at least say goodnight. Was he ignoring me after I told him to leave? I told him I didn't mean what I said. I decided to go to his house and check on him.

-IAN-

After letting her get some rest, I decided to go deal with the new trouble I had found out about when Evelyn confronted me about being a night walker. Something killed Hailey's mom and Cara's sister, but what I was more worried about was the someone that might of did it. It had been years since I had to deal with family drama, and this seemed like the start of a family reunion. I knew they were in town, and I tried my best to avoid them. They have always known how to draw a crowd.

I pondered where they may be hiding. Conversations were going around the night walker world about my brother being in town. Something about a hunt for a witch. I avoided the problem as long as I could, though more pressing matters have come about than my hesitation to confront him. I pulled out my phone to call him. My hand hovered over his contact name, I haven't called him in years. The odds he has the same number are slim to none but it's worth a shot. Finally I gathered up the courage to press "call".

"Sorry this number appears to be out of service, for more info please call…" the automated voice said.

I had a feeling that number wouldn't work. I'll just have to ask around. I walked back to my apartment, the sun felt like it was burning my skin. I hadn't eaten in days. Since my family got into town the blood banks had been looted dry. They didn't even try to cover themselves up. Now, they risk exposing all of us to the society.

About 6 blocks away I finally reached my apartment. It was in a busy part of town on a one way street. There was a middle school right down the road. One would think a night walker would have chosen to live a little more secluded, but I like the liveliness… ironically. I reached into my pocket to grab my key and unlocked the door. Inside was the most basic setup you could get for an apartment. Most of it was for decoration. I kept the fridge stocked for guests as to not look suspicious, and the furnishing and guest rooms were unnecessary since I'm never here.

I made my way towards the safe, completely pointless against a night walkers strength, but useful enough to keep humans from seeing my secrets. I put the safe code in and grabbed my stake and a couple other weapons. If I'm going to see my brother I should be armed for an attack, since our last interaction was less than pleasant.

After locking my apartment, I headed towards downtown to meet a friend who might know of my brothers whereabouts. A young bartender named Susan. Poor girl got herself caught up in this a couple years ago. When she died I was devastated to find out she was a night walker. I spent 6 months getting her on track again.

It was five on a Wednesday, so the bar was borderline barren expect for a couple alcoholics sitting in the corner watching football. Immediately after turning the corner I saw Susan. She was tall and skinny, almost lanky for a women. Her black hair was smoothed back into a pony tail and her multiple tattoos looked faded. She wasn't like this before she turned, the bloodlust really changed her.

"Ian! It's so good to see you.", Susan said. Oddly quiet for even herself. I was suspicious. "It's been a few days since you came down here, lots of things have been happening."

Something seemed very off about her. She was stiffer than usual and her voice wasn't as chipper to me. It seems almost shaken, as if something happened recently.

"Everything okay Sue?", I asked.

Her eyes opened a bit wider and a forced smile came upon her lips. "Yeah, I'm great! Just been really busy."

I was concerned now, we never talked like this. I moved in closer to her face, and waved my finger to indicate that I was going to whisper to her. She leaned in hesitantly.

"Whats going on Sue? Are you okay? Is something here I should know about?", I whispered to her.

Within a split second I was tackled onto the floor and before I could even get a glimpse of the attacker, my neck was snapped. Lights out.

I awoke at my apartment, tied up to a chair with metal chains.

"You're weaker than usual", a familiar voice said.

Looks like my brother found me instead.
