The rain was falling in a steady patter.

As if to clear away the dark clouds that had accumulated over the past week, the dark sky suddenly tore open at around four o'clock in the afternoon on this summer weekend, sending the industrial-smelling "sewage" towards the sewers and road sides.

In this weather, no matter whether they are ordinary office workers, the mentaly ill criminals who are a specialty of Gotham, or the bat mnonsters entrenched in the darkness, they are not willing to come out and move around.

Inside a dark damp alley, a woman was pushed against a trash damp and was begging several people in front of her to spare her life. The woman's appearence was worn out with several tears on her clothes and her eyes swollen from crying.

"Please, please let me go. I have money. It's all the money I have. I will bring you more, please just let me go."

Anne was crying desperately asking for the mercy. She doesn't know how she got in this trouble. She had even taken the main path back to home from the office. After all, it's Gotham and no one is truly safe here. But she was still kidnapped by these gangsters.

Tom heard the pleading and laughed loudly: "Hey Bran, this lady says that we should let her go. What do you say?"

Bran heard boss's words and laughed more wildly. He knew the boss was joking. He looked at the exposed skin of the woman, and smiled lewdly: "How can it be boss. We have gotten a good fish after so many days. At Leaat enjoy it first."

Tom and the several younger brothers under him laughed hearing Bran. Of course he was not going to let the woman. He has found this prey after so many efforts, he wouldn't let it go easily.

In a city like Gotham, he can only be considered a small gangster. The real danger are those lunatics in Arkham who can confront Batman and his assistant Robin head on. A gangster like him might be considered a terror in other places, but in Gotham, he was only a small street thug. He could only commit crimes before the night in order to avoid Batman and those lunatics.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps sounded in the alley.

Tom, other gangsters and Anne looked at the direction of footsteps.

A young boy aged between 15-16 was standing not far from them. He had black hair which were a little curly, deep blue eyes with a lean stature and a normal height for boys of his age. The boy was wearing a mask, so his facial features could not be clearly seen. Only those emotionless deep blue eyes were visible on the face.

The hope which had ignited in Anne's heart dried down again. The gangsters also relaxed seeing it was a just a kid. Tom looked angrily at the boy:

"Hey kid, what are you doing here. Did anyone not teach you to run in alleys. There are a lot of bad guys in such places."

After being threatened by Tom, the boy didn't had any reaction. His face was the same expressionless as before and those blue eyes were blank without any emotions visible in them.

This angered Tom.

As a low level scum gangster in Gotham, he was now embarrassd in front of his underlings. His fragile self-esteem was hurt. This Gotham makes him mad. There are lunatics everywhere, wether it is those Vigilanties, Arkham lunatics or simply the citizens. And now even a kid doesn't take him seriously. What mistakes did he commit to become a part of this crazy city.

Tom angrily pulled the knife and moved toward the boy to make an example out of him. The subordinates saw that the boss was angry, and they stopped laughing. Anne looked worriedly at the boy shouting him to run away.

Just as the knife was about to touch boy's face, Tom's hand suddenly stopped in the air.

Everyone looked at the raised hand in surprise including Tom. Tom tried to pull the knife down, but he couldn't move.

"What the hell is gown. Come down you bitch."

Suddenly, a sharp scream came out of Tom's mouth and his hand with the knife fell to the ground separated from the body.

Everyone shouted seeing the scene. The hand was cut off and no one saw how it happened.

Tom shouted trembling: "What is happening. What happened to my hand. Help me, help."

Bran ran to the boss and covered the bleeding arm with his jacket.

One of the underlings standing behind seemed to have realized something and started trembling. He pointed his finger toward the boy: "De.. demon. He's the demon."

His partner saw his situation and asked: "What do you mean by that."

The first one pointed toward the boy with trembling body and deep fear in his eyes. He couldn't believe he was seeing the legendary demon with his own eyes. He said weakly: "Don't you remember what has been happening recently. The demon killing people in the city."

The sound was weak, but everyone could hear it. But the moment everyone heard the words, their expressions changed wether it was Bran, bleeding Tom or Anne.
