3 Chapter 2

Later in the afternoon I woke up on a sofa in the office of the dojo. In comes my uncle. "So you're awake." He said as the man poured me a cup of coffee.  As he handed my drink I felt more relieved. I soon remembered what happened a while ago. "What was that thing?" I asked. My uncle then goes into sudden thought. "She said she was Tsukuyomi. If I remember well she is the Some kind of moon Goddess."  He told me.

This kinda lit up some questions. I didn't understand myself but the name felt familiar. "Then how did a god happen to appear in front of us?" I asked. "You probably did something." He says, "Maybe you did something to summon it." This lead us to nowhere. All I did was recall a past life. But then again it might have been the trigger.  That's when the name came in. "Do you know the name Hijikata Toshizo?" I asked.

The name did ring a few bells to him. My uncle then gave me a bit of a history lesson. He told me he was the vice-commander of the Shinsengumi, a military police force of the shogunate. The Shinsengumi as a whole played a big role in Japan's history. Hijikata Toshizo was considered one of the most honorable and chivalrous of the group. He was a man of the people and thought of the safety of others before his own. "Anyways not only Hijikata was a born leader but he was a quite intellect. His swordsmanship even became a martial art." My uncle explains, "Come to think about it, you did excel at Tennen Rishin Ryu when you just finished middle school. No wonder you look so familiar to me when you fight."

My uncle then sits on his chair and sips on his drink.  But the sudden image of the tea me a sudden thought. "Say...didn't you tell me that your past life was of some swordsman?" I asked. "Yeah Nagakura Shinpachi. Why is that?" He asked.

"Did anything happen when you recollected your memories of your past life?"

"Not of any to the point it made a 'god' appear in front of me."

He then gets off from his seat and started reaching in his drawer. Looking around he takes out a few things, mostly books. "We just need to recover your past identities. But for now let's start with Toshizo Hijikata." He told me. My uncle then puts a book on the table. "You know there's Google, right?" I asked at him sarcastically. "Not of Tennen Rishin Ryu. This might be able to jog a bit of your memory a bit more." He tells me, "I'll just take the night shift from here. Just head home and take tomorrow off."

"Are you sure…? Are you able to handle the class on your own?" I asked.

"If you are Hijikata...then from memory I'd say you were best when secluded." He told me.

"Secluded?" I questioned the man.

"I was your former captain after all at the time. Do a bit of meditation and try to read the books I'm about to give you. Maybe we can start from your muscle memory back when you were still in the Shinsengumi." My uncle insisted.

As my uncle told me, I decided to go home. It was nice to have a day off every once in awhile. But I decided to use it off by reading the book that Uncle Ryuji gave me. Almost all the moves gave me some of my memories back. When I was still Hijikata I was the one who created this sword style. This kinda  gave me memories when I was still training new members of the Shinsengumi back at the time. Despite me being a good teacher at the time, sometimes I wondered if I was too harsh at my students.

I managed to finish the book in an hour but I felt that there were a few more techniques were not included in the book I just read. It was that or the information provided was lacking. But I decided to go to my room and sleep on it. However the sun sets and I wake up after a power nap. I look at the mirror and I was startled to see myself have four ivory horns at my forehead. But the horns slowly retracted a few moments later. I felt my forehead as it felt as if there was nothing there. Things kept on getting weirder by the minute.
