9 Chapter 9: The Big Question

Rosa ran us as fast as she could through the dimly lit forest. I still had no idea how she knew where Abe would be, but she did. After hours of no stop running, she finally slowed down when we reached a dimly lit two story house. It was white with cute blue trim around the windows and doors. There was only one window with light flowing through and that was one of the upper story windows. Rosa sat down, lifted her snout into the air, and let off a crying howl. I wasn't sure what she was doing as she didn't speak to me the entire way here. She let it go for a few minutes until the front door banged open and my one and only Abe stood in it's place.

"Nova!!" Abe howled, trudging down the steps as fast as he could. Rosa rushed up to meet him halfway and knocked him to the ground. She proceeded in licking and smelling his face, instantly calming the both of us down. "Okay, okay, okay! I missed you too!" He laughed pushing us off of him. He looked at us with pleading eyes, "Can I see my, Nova now? I promise I will let you play after we're done."

Rosa grunted, annoyed, but obliged, snapping bones and receding hair... back into a naked, old me. I didn't bother to cover myself, as I was just too happy too see my mate again. I jumped up onto him, wrapping my legs around his waist. "I'm never going to let you go again!" I yelled, happily. I kissed every single bare spot I could find on his face, finally ending with his lips. We kissed for what felt like hours, until we had to come back up for breath.

Abe pushed a piece of stray hair behind my ear. "I thought I was never going to see you again, love. I thought I lost you for ever." His eyes were watery, enlightening me that he was on the verge of a breakdown.

"You never have to worry about that again. I'm stronger than I look you know," I rolled my eyes at him and hopped down. "Now, if you don't mind, it's kind of chilly out here and ya know... I'm naked." I smirked, knowing that he forgot.

He ran his eyes up and down my frame, admiring every inch of me. "I like you better like this." He gave me his million dollar smirk and hugged me tightly before he led me into the house.

Abe reluctantly let me go long enough to get out of my dirty rags of clothes now, and into a steaming how shower. I took my sweet time even though I knew he was itching to see me again. I smiled to myself at the thought, realizing then, that I didn't know if I honestly wanted to leave. Abe was perfect and he made me beyond happy. I grinned again, as I quickly removed myself from shower. I guess this is just something I will have to discuss with my mate again.

I left the restroom and found a pair of black gym shorts and a blue spaghetti strap tank top to throw on before I made my way back down the steps. I heard loud banging noises the whole way down, making me wonder what the hell was going on. I peeked into the kitchen to see Abe, trying to cook something on the stove top. "What the hell are you doing?!" I yelled as loud as I can, making Abe jump and the pan he was holding went banging on the ground. I went into full hysterics, holding my stomach as I laughed my ass off. "I'm sorry... I had to! I didn't want to miss that opportunity!" His face turned more into a glare now after saying that.

"I'll teach you!" Abe charged at me, grabbing me around the waist before I had time to react. He lifted me so I was hanging over his shoulder.

I hit his back with the palm of my hand. "Put me down you ape!" I laughed more. I just couldn't contain myself.

He hoisted me back over his shoulders and set my down on the couch in his living room. He towered over me and got close to my face. "You think that was funny, huh? Well, you have another thing coming, missy!" I abrupted in loud laughter as he tickled my sides until I couldn't breath anymore.

"Okay! Okay! Okay! Truce! I call truce! I can't take it anymore!

Abe stilled and cupped my face with his hand. "God. I never thought I would ever someone as much as I missed you, love." His face showed so much love, his showed pain, knowing that he wasn't able to save me.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him down into me for a hug. "It's not your fault, Abe. I'm here now, that's all that matters."

We hugged for a long time. We just couldn't seem to let each other go. He sat his head up and looked me in the eyes. "Nova, when this is all over..." He stopped and cleared his throat.

I rubbed my hand along his jaw. "Go on, you can tell me anything."

He sighed. "When this is all over, will you do me the honor of officially letting me keep you forever?"

I was puzzled for a moment. "Well, I've been thinking that I don't want to leave anymore. I want to stay here with you... is that what you mean, Abe?" I looked into his eyes, searching for answers that I was never going to find there.

Abe shook his head. "I always knew you wouldn't leave me. Was I was trying to say is.... will you marry me? I want to make it official... and I'm sure our wolves won't mind as mine is howling annoying loud now." He laughed softly, probably trying to lighten the mood after what he asked me.

Marriage though? "Abe, you haven't even marked me yet. Why do you want to get married?"

"Human culture is something that I still want to celebrate. I don't want to mark or mate you until after. I hope this isn't something that you are completely against. I know this is something my parents initiated in and I would like to do the same. You know, our family tradition." He smiled down at me before planting a soft kiss to my lips and lifting his gaze back up to mine.

I wrapped my arms around his shoulders again and pulled him down on me. "You know, Abe, as long as you're happy, I will be too."

So, it was then, that we began to plan out our wedding. Abe looked sideways at me. "You have to meet my parents now, you know?"

Ugh. "Yes, Abe. When would you like this to take place?"

"We will just head over in the morning. I don't think they have anything going on tomorrow, besides planning out their vacation after retirement."

"Okay, deal."

Little did I know, tomorrow the change to everything that I had wanted up until now.
