Clause

"Page 6, clause 1." He Zifeng said.

Chen Kaori moved the pages then stopped upon locating the terms being addressed. "With you."

"Add representative name as Chen Kaori." He Zifeng replied in monotone.

"Duly noted." Chen Kaori did not show any objection and edited the clause with a pen.

He Zifeng took out that page from the folder and reached out his hand to ask for her copy.

Chen Kaori immediately took out the page she just scribbled on and handed it to He Zifeng.

Assitant Jiang just came back with freshly brewed hot tea he placed on the table.

"Revise and reprint these." He Zifeng ordered him, handing the pages he had.

"Oh...right away, Sir." Assistant Jiang swiftly took the papers and made a run for the copier outside of the office.

Chen Kaori raised a brow when He Zifeng closed his folder. 'That's it? I came rushing here to write my freakin' name?' her blood was boiling inside.

She suddenly remembered her boss and was bothered by his defeated expression. She felt sorry for him. Bei Yang endured He Zifeng's gaze torture for hours. He looked just like her colleagues back in the advertising department of H&B. She wondered if they found a new job. She felt a bit guilty for indirectly taking their jobs away.

There was another moment of awkward silence as they waited for Assistant Jiang to reprint the pages for the contract.

The office was quite cool with the air conditioning on, but Bei Yang kept wiping his sweat. He wanted to hug Chen Kaori when she arrived but decided against it as the gesture seemed inappropriate and deadly at the moment. He took deep breaths to collect his thoughts. What was important that time was for them to successfully sign the contract with the client. He will make up for his shortcomings later.

Assistant Jiang was unsure whether to hasten his movements or to go sluggish so that his boss could spend some more time with Chen Kaori. The printer buzzed as he thought about getting back soon since Bei Yang is in their way anyway. Assistant Jiang knew he needed to get rid of Bei Yang so that his boss could talk to Chen Kaori alone.

The awkward silence was broken when Assistant Jiang came back with the revised pages of the contract.

Bei Yang was snapped out of his depressing thoughts when Chen Kaori placed their copy before him and was trying to hand him the fountain pen. "Uh, right. Okay." he blurted as he took the pen from her hand.

He Zifeng glared at the simple gesture and took off the lid of his own pen with much force. He kept silent as he signed the papers.

Chen Kaori signed too, then she exchanged their copies with the other parties so they could sign.

When they were done, Assistant Jiang initiated handshakes with the other company, so that his boss could have an opportunity.

"Thank you for trusting us." Chen Kaori uttered during the handshakes. "Uhmm...I'm really sorry for being late as I rushed back from City H...and if there is nothing else, I'll be excusing myself." she bowed and hurriedly left the office before anyone could object.

Bei Yang was about to chase her when Assistant Jiang stopped him with some weird excuse the latter thought of at that moment.

As Assistant Jiang lured Bei Yang into his office, the former signaled his boss to go chase Chen Kaori.

He Zifeng brisk-walked out of the room, then dashed to the elevators. He still did not catch her, so he used the emergency staircase. His office is at the 28th floor, but his adrenaline made him run down as swiftly as his legs can.
