38 Fin and Ethan's Exit

For the rest of the day, Lux and the others were explaining to the citizens of Ekueyta that they had cleared the dungeon and the final floor rewarded the people who cleared it with a tome to increase the rank of one of their skills.

While they were confused at first on how they managed to clear the dungeon, after seeing the group's guild ranks. They took a long time to get over it but the group were eventually left alone.

The group were finally able to rest after their continuous barrage of questioning and were eating in a restaurant. Fin seemed as though he wanted to say something, "Hey, Listen man. Me, Ethan and Liv feel like we can't keep up with you anymore. I know you said that we can stay with you as long as we want to, but we all decided it would be best to stay here and live normally."

"Oh, I'm sorry if you feel like you can't keep up with us, but if you really feel like its best for you to stay here then I won't stop you. I have no clue how often I will be able to see you guys but you will always be my friends."

"Thanks for understanding man, I'll see you later."

"Yeah, it's been a good time, good luck on your travels man."

Both Lux and Petra bid the others farewell and left the restaurant and went to the guild. It was there that they took a quest for slaying a monster that lived in the mountains. Although it was not terrorising anyone, the monster was deemed too dangerous to be left alive.

The two set out to the mountain and got onto the road that led to the monsters location.

Lux thought that it was a bit too quiet and decided to break the silence, "So it's just us two and Jörmungandr now. It feels less crowded in our group although it isn't really a group anymore."

"I guess it is, although I don't feel lonely as the only reason I am here at all is because of you."

"I keep forgetting about the fact that you were a slave before I rescued you. I'm glad to have you around though, I appreciate your company."

"I like being with you so it isn't a problem at all, and thanks again for saving me, I feel as though I don't tell you enough."

"It isn't a problem so you shouldn't worry about it. Anyway, that mountain is close so we should ride Jörmungandr up to the top."

"Yeah sure."

They got on Jörmungandr's back and he took them up to the cave where the monster was located. Once they entered the cave at the top of the mountain they saw an Earth Dragon that seemed to have no energy at all or even have the possibility of being dangerous.

"D-d-dad, is that you? It can't be, you died."

"Petra, you're alive. When you were taken from us and your mother was killed, I managed to survive but sustained permanent major damage and have been in this cave ever since. I am too weak to move, and my life is about to end. The only reason that I have survived this far is due to my magic warding off adventurers. I'm so glad to see you one last time before I die."

"Dad, I'm fine and was saved by Lux. He's the only reason that I'm free from slavery."

"Thank you for saving my daughter. If I could do anything to repay you then I would, but there is nothing for me to give you."

"Listen man, you don't need to give me anything in return. I saved Petra because I wanted to so you owe me nothing. I enjoy hanging out with Petra so that's enough for me."

"If you really and truly want nothing more than my daughter to accompany you on your travels then I will not intervene. I am afraid that I am about to die and do not have more than ten minutes at most. Please allow me to have a moment alone with my daughter."

Lux went outside and waited for Petra to return. After around eight minutes, she returned with tears in her eyes.

"I'm really sorry about your dad, I wish I could have done something."

"There's nothing you could have done. My father's last wish was for me to stay with you and be safe until my death, I hope that you'll let me stay with you until then."

"Of course you can, I would be glad to keep you around forever."

The two of them left the mountain and returned to the guild to report that the quest was complete. However, they refused to collect the reward as the 'monster' was Petra's father.

They left the guild for good this time and went on their way in search of new things to do.

Along the road that they were on, they came across monsters and bandits that were easily dispatched of.

After around a week and a half of walking, they came across a huge grave yard with a single grave keeper. He offered them a place to stay and they gladly agreed as he seemed to be a good guy. He gave the two food and then he went to sleep and Lux went to bed also with Petra in the same room. During the middle of the night, the door cracked open and the grave keeper entered while believing that nobody noticed him.

He had drugged the food and was going to try and **** Petra while both her and Lux were knocked unconscious. Lux was unaffected by the poison due to [Infinite Regeneration] and Petra was also fine due to [Instant Regeneration]. This meant that as soon as the grave keeper attempted to touch Petra, Lux used ice magic to send a spike straight through his head The next morning, the two of them woke up and stepped over the attempted rapist's body. They then left and Petra thanked Lux for his help.

The two then went on their way once again.
