4 Chapter 4

"Okay kids, today, we'll be just be doing alphabet improv. I need volunteers people." Sikowitz said.

When Sikowitz saw that no one raised their hands, he rolled his eyes.

"Okay, since no one wants to, Jade, you're up." he sipped his coconut milk.

Jade walked up to the stage agonizingly slowly.

"Pick your opponents." Sikowitz said, as though he was a commentator in a fighting game.

"André, Cat, Beck and Ava." she said while picking her nails in boredom.

We all walked onto stage. We made side glances at each other, not actually knowing what to do.

"Ooh! Ooh! Are we going to sing ABCs?" Cat asked in excitement, jumping up and down.

"No. God you children really need me to explain everything to you." he said dramatically, as though it was a high task.

"Alphabet improv is basically normal improv, just say each line in alphabetical order of the first letter. If you say it wrong, then," he said, then making a buzzing noise,"You're out."

"Example, Ava, start."

"Apples are being served for lunch." I said automatically, getting an idea of how to game worked.

"Beck, your turn." Sikowitz said with such enthusiasm.

"But I'm allergic to apples!" he exclaims.

"Good. Let's start." he said, turning a chair around and sitting on it the wrong way around, watching us intently.

"Ava, you look nice today." Beck said coolly.

"Beck, that's nice of you, but don't you have a girlfriend?" I said, emphasizing 'girlfriend', pointing toward Jade.

"Care to explain?" Jade said, her perfectly plucked eyebrows raised.

"Don't you guys think we should change there topic?" André said, interrupting us.

"Excuse me, but what am I supposed to do now?" Cat asked in irritation.

"Forget it. Let's move on." Beck said, clearly not wanting to start a fight.

"Get back here, don't you think we should discuss this further?" Jade asked, directed to Beck.

"I like pineapples!" Cat said, trying to include herself in the conversation.

The buzzing sound sounded. Sikowitz was sitting on his chair shaking his head.

"The next alphabet was 'H'. Sorry Cat, you're out!" he said with glee.

"Aw man." Cat said, upset. She pulled a gummy bear out of her bra and she eats it. My face scrunched up. Who the hell keeps sweets in their bra?

"André, you start. 'H'."

"Hey, why am I the one to talk?" André argued.

"I don't know, and I don't care." I said, sarcasm filling my voice to the brim.

"Jerk." he said out loud. I must have looked like I was about to murder him, because Beck interrupted.

"Kidding. He's kidding." He tried to defend him.

"Like how you were 'kidding' about how you complement other girls." Jade cut in.

"Meaning I can't complement my friends who are girls?" Beck asked.

"No, you can complement ugly girls." she said with that sickly sweet voice, which made her sound like she was in the verge of yelling.

"Only ugly girls? Why? Are you jealous?" a smirk plastered across his face.

"Please, even if I am, you're my boyfriend. You're not supposed to go around complementing other girls." she said, her voice bored.

"Quit arguing. Just solve your problems." I said, my eyes rolling.

"Rolling your eyes so much will cause your eyes to roll out of their sockets." André pointed out.

"Shut up." Jade and I said in unison. You know what they say, great minds think alike.

"Hey! That's rude." André said.

Sikowitz made the buzzing sound again. He looked like he was enjoying himself.

"André, your letter was 'T'. You know what that means, you're out." Sikowitz said to him.

André mumbled under his breath and walked back to his seat. Sikowitz forced us to continue.

"Two of you sound like sisters." Beck joked.

"Understatement. We probably are sisters." I replied, grinning.

"Very nice of you to say. Now Beck, where were we?" she asked, her voice laced with a dark undertone.

"Why can't you guys stop arguing?" I asked, slightly fed up with it.

"X-rays could see our problem." Beck responded.

"You should know very well our problem without one." she glares at him.

"Zero ideas on why. Care to explain?"

"And you can discuss this after class, guys." I said, trying to break them up from their conversation.

"Big chance that's going to happen."

"Can't you stop?" Beck asked politely.

"No!" Jade yelled at him.

Sikowitz made the buzzing sound once again. He sipped on his coconut milk and was about to tell Jade that she was out but she cut him off.

"Yes! I'm know I'm out!" she groaned.

"Don't you think Jade was being unreasonable?" Beck said, knowing the whole class was watching.

"Everyone has their flaws. That's what that makes Jade, well, Jade."

"Forget it. I think we should move on.

"Great. Let's move on." I said, relieved the topic was over.

"Hey, you know what would make me feel better?" I could practically hear the gears whirring in his head.

"I couldn't care less." I answered without missing a beat.

"Just kiss me." he said. What the actual hell was he doing.

"Kiss you?" I asked incredulously. I was shocked. Jade was too, by the look on her face. My heart was beating so fast I was sure that it was going to fly out of my chest.

He pulled me close to him and made me kiss him. His lips pressed against mine. I turned my head to deepen the kiss, my emotions ruling over my actions. I realized what I was doing and pulled back. My eyes widened in shock.

Beck kept his calm exterior and I couldn't believe it. I realized what he was doing, making Jade jealous. My heart deflated. He did all this for Jade, to make her realize that she should have treasured him, and what it would be like if she kept doing this.

I sighed. He just used me to get back at Jade. I was furious. Luckily, the bell sounded, signaling the end of improv. I rushed to my seat and swung my bag over my shoulders, before running to the next period.
