7 Chapter 7: Buying familiars

"I hate this idea.", Peter said to himself as he walked toward the Market.

"Master, you must calm down and don't raise any harm on the location.", Ophichus was worried.

"They are only doing their job, master. The wrong doings weren't made by them.", Odin reforced.

"Shut up, you two. I know that but still bothers me.", he said and entered the place.

"Welcome to the Mage Shop, how can I help you?", a girl said to him.

"I came looking for familiars.", he said with a strange smile on his face.

"Follow me, sir, I'll get you there."

As they walked on the place he could see another magical items as brooms of flying, staffs and wands. But what caught his attention was a two-handed sword with a ruby on its guard. The blade looked like silver and was perfectly sharp.

"I'll never be capable to wield a sword.", he thought with himself.

"Here we are, sir. Feel free to look around as much as you want.", she showed him a huge hangar with hundreds to maybe a thousands of familiars.

"Thank you.", he said with a angrily smile and the girl fastly went away.

"Manage you anger, master.", Ophichus said.

"For now it's controlled but anything more I might explode."

"Are you here for us, sir?", a cub bear said to him.

"Maybe. What have to offer me?", he smiled to the familiar on the cage.

"I'm strong and my...", the young gulped a cry.

"It's okay to cry, little one. What's your name?"

"I don't have a name, sir, but I'll be the strongest."

"I know but you can wait a little more? I think there are a lot of friends here that need help before you, don't you agree?"

"Yes, sir. I agree. I'll be strong and wait you."

"Good boy.", he petted the little bear. "You know anyone that needs help?"

"The one more away from the door are the ones more in need, sir."

"So I'll talk to them now. See you."

"Goodbye sir."

"I'll comeback be sure of it."

"Everyone say this, sir."

"I know but I mean it. So remember me to demand it. I'm Peter.", the cub didn't talk anymore and the boy entered further on the hangar.

As he passed through the corridors a lot of familiars asked to be bought and he ignored most of them. He was heartbroken because he wanted to help but he was hopeless.

"Master, you need to help the ones you can for now.", the snake said.

"I know."

"Hey, can you hear me out?", an old dragon said.

"Of course but know that I won't buy you.", he looked at the familiar.

The dragon was too old that the scales didn't shine anymore and from a celestial blue was now worn out and not as beatiful as it was some day.

"I have a child incoming and will have the same destiny as mine if I stay here. If you could pass this word to a good wizard as you I'll be glad already."

"How much they want for you?"

"Twelve hundred credits."

"I'll try my best. How much time do you have?"

"A couple months at best. I don't want my child to be raised in a cage this is my only wish as a mother."

"Don't worry I'll help you."

"Master, there is one dying not far from here.", Ophichus announced and he started to run. "On this corridor. Left. There on the lowest cage."

"Oh my god. He is a Guard Beetle.", this species was know for its raw power and good instincts but as he it grows older it loses everything.

"He is having a heart attack, master. Don't do it what you want."

"I'm sorry. Fire.", the lock melted and he opened the cage. Magical alarms were activated. "Force. Enhance.", he starting doing heart massage breaking some of the beetle natural armor but that was made him stay alive.

"Thank you.", the old familiar said.

"What are you doing, sir?", a guard come to Peter with the girl who attended him.

"Take me where you want but first how much is he?", he pointed to the beetle.

A little after.

"You must stop doing this kind of things, master."

"But everything went smoothly, three for the price of two.", Peter said.

"He is very old, master. Are you thinking in using Rewind rune again?", Ophichus asked.

"No, this will be much more simple."

"You didn't need to go this far, youngster.", the Guard Beetle said.

"What're your names?", Peter asked as he turned and started walking backwards to look at the Guard Beetle and the Wild Fox.

"Rhynus.", the beetle said.

"Fridda.", the fox replied.

"Both are old, master.", Ophichus was worried about them but most about his master.

"You forgot about the blood cerimonial?", the boy said.

"The ritual that makes the familiar bonded to your death?", the snake asked.

"As a colateral effect is bonded to the wizard's age as well. So upon contract they will return to their youth. And then before my death I pass them to my grandchildren and so on. Eternal life, Ophichus, but as well eternal loyalty."

"I already own you my life, my liege.", Rhynus said.

"And would like to revive my youth even if it costs me my freedom, my new master.", Fridda said.

"They sold them and a dead body for three hundred credits."

"Why did you killed her?", Rhynus asked.

"To save her children.", Peter knew that Rewind is like playing as God and he shouldn't do that anymore. "Lets stop here and do the honors.", he removed the egg from her belly and did a grave near a river. "Never forget the ones left behind and always focus on the ones that are in our front."

"Master, you could save her in another way?", Fridda asked.

"Possibly."

"Why you didn't do it then?"

"The wait for the unknown scares more than the death when it's about you children."

"You're content with your actions?", she was trying to know him.

"I'm sad but for being so much powerless and not how the situation ended.", he looked to the river one more time before leaves. "The time must be like this river."

"A continuous flow.", she completed.

"Not a continuous flow but not be rewinded by the hand of man.", he corrected her. "It's not fun to be God.", he said sadly. "Lets go. I need you both ready for tomorrow."

"You will do the ritual with the egg, master?", Ophichus asked.

"No. It will chose if bonds with me or not."

The day passed and because of the bought didn't have any study session.

Rhynus and Fridda received the Blood Cerimonial and regained their youth and prime power. But remained with their wisdom of old age.

Guard Beetle was a melee combatant familiar. It was the third on the hierarchy of the beetles familiar being only behind of the Royal Guards at second place and Emperor on the first. All of them were about five feet tall with a horn of one foot above that.

Wild Foxes are hardly known because they're a rare monster and even more as familiar. Dextrous combatants these fox uses from their tail's polen to use magical effects like explosions and hypnosis.

Celestial Dragons were once the gods of marine combat but their race was almost extinct because of it. They have a long body made to surf the water. Known for control the battlefield with water manipulation and drag down ships with its water breath.

"As you are now, you have truly become my familiars and as master I shall introduce you your brothers.", Peter said.

Odin unfused from the boy and landed on his shoulder. Luke jumped on the pocket and his little wings made his head pop off it. Ophichus left the arm and showed himself on the bed.

"First of all is Ophichus. Second is Luke. Third is Odin. Fourth is Rhynus. Fifth is Fridda. This is a order of coming but the order in command is Ophichus, Rhynus, Odin, Fridda and Luke."

"Why do you have so much familiars, master?", the fox asked.

"This isn't of your concern, Fridda.", he answered and felt her dislike. "Speak it out."

"You have enough power and knew I only wanted to use you. So I think its better for you to release me."

"Okay.", he clapped and her age regressed to before. "Now must go, you told yourself that you only wanted to feel your youth, am I wrong?"

"Not like this.", she was enraged. "Give me back my body."

"Old fox.", he was smiling. "Did you really think you could fool me?"

"Forgive me, master, and bless me again with youthness."

"Go away, stray fox, here isn't place for betrayers."

"I'll serve you for life, master, just take this life."

"You will give me your life and then I'll gladly accept."

"YOU....", he smiled on her drama.

"Bad fox.", Luke said to Fridda.

"That's right. Bad fox."

"Bed... fax...", the dragon egg trembled as everyone heard the voice.
