5 Chapter 5: Basics and Familiars

"Why is this so difficult?", Peter was complaining about the book of basic incantations.

"That's because runes are too easy.", Ophichus replied.

"I know.", he said and started a basic incantation but nothing happened. "What I'm doing wrong?"

"Everything.", the little snake said while giving food to Luke.

"What are you saying?", the boy was intrigued.

"You need to improve what you're good and have talent first. After this is established you focus on everything else.", he explained.

"What he said is right, master.", Odin concluded.

"And what I'm good on?"

"Fire.", both familiars said together.

"How do you know?", he disbelieve them.

"The little one is the one with elemental affinity while Ophichus and I haven't one.", the crow said.

"Let me see if I get it. Luke is a fire affinity while you two don't have even one?"

"That's rude to say, master.", the little snake said cleaning the bird feathers. "Our little brother is the fire itself and the crow and me have other utilities."

"That's more accurate.", the other bird confirmed.

"I get it. Odin show me only incantations that involves fire attribute from now on."

"Yes, master."

The incantations now would bright in red for what he should read. Slowly he was able to use conjure fire through another incantations. Some of them he could even control without another incantation.

Someone knocked on the door. The curfew was about to start and the boy didn't want to receive anyone. But he went and opened the door. On the hallway on the front of his room was Ellen and her four friends.

"Hi.", she said.

"Ok. I understand but will be ten credits per extra student.", he pointed the other four. "Enter before transfer. You can sit on the bed. Just let me get this little boy.", he extended his hand and Luke walked on it. "Enter.", then the bird jumped on the pocket. "I'll buy some food while this transfer the money."

Ophichus was fast and hide under the pillow after going below the bed.

"This is time to come to another person's room?", the snake thought.

"Master.", Odin was fused with his master because was easier than being out and in again and again.

"Talk."

"You will really teach all those girls who killed their familiars?"

"While they stay on their own and don't metion anything. As well treat they good this will only benefit me on the shortage of credits."

"Makes sense."

"What do you think of them, Luke?"

"Ellen... good girl..."

"And the others?"

"Bad...?"

"This child has great perception of others intentions, master."

"I know and this scares me a little because is too accurate."

He came back with food and drinks. While buying he saw the credits gained but one thing make him mad and this was clear when he entered his room.

"Ellen, Cecilia, Jasmin and Valeria can stay, the other one please leave.", he placed the boughts on the floor.

"Why?", one girl said.

"What is your name?", he clicked on his watch and then Ellen watch beeped.

"Angellica."

"Angellica. It's very simple. You didn't paid for it."

"But Ellen..."

"Ellen already paid before the Familiar class today. So you pay for yourself or you leave my room.", he stood up and opened the door.

She left the room and waited on the hallway for any other come with her but was in vain.

"Other rules before I close the door. First you will pay for everytime you need a help. Second you will bring your familiar if they don't come you don't need either, today is a exception. Third if you treat your familiar badly I don't want you here and I'll pay you to go away.", one of the girls left the room. "What is your name?"

"I don't need this small change.", she left.

"What's her name?", he asked Ellen.

"Valeria.", she responded and he returned the credits.

"You two will stay then?", both nodded agreeing and he close the door. "Okay. Now tell how are your situation with your familiars."

"Cecilia go ahead your situation is worst.", Jasmin said and he looked worried.

"All of you took the Reborn Project I assume."

"Yes.", Cecilia started. "My familiar become a lightning wolf and from there till today he is agressive toward me and this happened.", she showed a bit on her forearm with lightning burning.

"What he was before?"

"A hound."

"The change isn't too great.", he started to think.

"The power enhaced one of his qualities, probably, master.", Odin telephatic told.

"He needs to discharge this anger before we take any action.", he spoke to the girl. "Tomorrow, we will see this further."

"Thank you.", she was about to cry.

"My case is a lot easier I think.", Jasmin said. "My familiar change from a sloth to a unicorn but it doesn't want to listen to me and are always lazing around."

"Your case is probably worse.", Peter said. "It maintained its instincts as a sloth. You'll have a harder way training it than everyone else.", he took Luke and put him on his desk with some food.

"I wanted to feed him, master.", Ophichus was trapped on the bed because of the girls presence.

"I have a unicorn how it can be harder than a mad dog?"

"You have to make it listen to you again and after that you need to make it learn about being a unicorn and not a sloth. This is harder than making a wolf settle down for sure."

"Ellen told us that you make her familiar obey within a day and now you're telling me that mine will take more than...", she stopped as her watch beeped and ten credits were transferred.

"Take your leave please.", he said calmly. "And don't knock the door too.", she ferociously left and he returned. "Basic Incantations...", he spend the time left to teach them a little about the incantations.

The other day. The same classes. But after they went to Cecilias' room.

"A lightning wolf would be a good match for you as well.", Ophichus said.

"Why?", Peter asked.

"Elemental affinity talking fire is close to another damaging elementals as lightning, master.", Odin explained.

"There is the type affinity too.", the snake complimented.

"This is new for me. So far I'm connected with two birds and one snake what a canine has to do with my type affinity?"

"This is talk for another time, master.", the snake spoke.

"I think so too, master.", the crow confirmed.

"Ok. So now I have to trust you two blindly, is that right?", he said ironically.

"Hey, Peter, here.", Ellen called him and Cecilia was on her side.

"Hey. I need Felix help and he might hurt a little.", the boy said coming close.

"Felix?", she turned to the familiar. "He's okay with it."

"Good. Felix, I need you to hug Cecilias' familiar and take him to the arena on one free battlefield. Got it?"

"He understood."

"Cecilia and Ellen you two go ahead to the arena I'll be there a little after Felix."

"Okay.", both girls went to the location.

Peter waited till the girls was away.

"Felix, I can understand you so I need you to talk to me, okay?"

"Sure, black hair.", the dragon said.

"My name is Peter by the way."

"Okay, black hair."

"Stop calling me black hair, please."

"Sure... what? You really understand me?", the dragon was surprised.

"I'm trying to explain that for a while now."

"Sorry, bla... Peter."

"The lightning wolf will discharge a little on you, you can take it?"

"I'm not sure. I trained against my will for the last year and they dropped midterm because of my behaviour."

"Resistance.", Peter placed a Rune on the dragon. "With this the damage will be lessened."

"Okay. So I grab him and drop on the arena."

"That's the initial plan but I need you to keep him on one battlefield with hurting others."

"Got it. Leave it to me."

"Nice. Lets go."

Peter didn't even need to ask which room was because of the wolf temperament.

"Grab it and go through the window. Don't give it time to think."

"Yeah."

The boy opened the door. The gold dragon grabbed the wolf tail with one of his upper paws and broke out through the window. In mid air grab it by its full body and fastly started to fly toward the arena.

"Element. Banishment.", Peter used the runes on the room and the eletricity left by the familiar vanish. "Time. Reverse.", he fixed the window and left closing the door behind.

"You'll take too long without magic, master.", Odin said.

"I never intented to went without it. Fly. Enhance. Speed.", Peter projected himself faster than a dragon.
