Morgan turned her face toward the sky. The salty sea air filled her lungs and stung her face as she stood on the edge of Venice Beach.

"Morgan." her dad called from the house. "It's time to head to school.

Morgan sighed, gazing longingly out at the ocean. "Coming dad." She turned and went in the house, sliding the screen door closed behind her.

"Your backpack is on the chair." Her dad said. She smiled and grabbed it, kissing his cheek before rushing out the door. "Love you! Trim your beard!"

He laughed and called "Love you too." As the door slammed behind Morgan.
