2 Fate Of The Fatherless (Rewrite finished)

Maleficent was skipping around Devon in circles, apparently embracing the role of a child. The ludicrously massive hallways they walked in sparkling in the ever-present sunlight.

"Your highness. I do not want you to trip on that dress and hurt yourself. Please slow down." In a manner of hours, she had given him not one, but countless close-calls. His heart skipped a beat in fright every time she made one surprising movement. He wasn't a fan of the sporadic personality she had adopted from observing mortals.

"Mortal children run around their parents all the time. I don't quite understand what running to for them, so I am trying to find out." She was now running around Devon at speeds that would disintegrate the ground of mortal realms.

"Any success, your highness?" His eyes perfectly keeping up with her. She was nigh-omnipotent, but until she properly integrated with this heaven and her father's powers, Devon could still beat her in most things. One of them included speed. He was faster, but the longer she existed, the stronger she would grow. Eventually, she would only be beaten by her father.

"No? It's a little frustrating. It makes no sense why mortals like running. It does enhance their physical prowess. But, they are so weak and insignificant so all attempts at improvement will be for nought, so I don't understand why they struggle." She stopped running and looked up and Devon. Her tiny form, coupled with her big blue eyes and blonde hair stopped his heart temporarily.

"I-I don't know, your highness. I have walked the mortal realms through the ages, but morals always stay the same. The pattern goes the same. They advance and advance until they all eventually kill each other. Then, it stars over again. They never do seem to be able to step into divinity."

"Maybe I should help?"

"You are the daughter of the all-father. Existence is yours to control. If you want some mortals to experiment on, I will have them delivered to you immediately." Devon bowed.

"Maybe. I will consider it."

"Kitchen!" Maleficent saw the labelled door and ran straight through it, literally. Her young mortal personality included a lot of spontaneous decision making. Devon ones again sighed at her childishness and repaired the door with a wave. He walked in, the normal way. The boring way.

"What do you think a mortal would think about our home?"

"Your highness, you must understand how limited a mortal mind is. Their minds would collapse, and they would go insane from trying to comprehend this realm. But, if they come under your or your father's protection, they could stand it. So, in that case, I think they would comment on how it is the most beautiful and splendid place to have ever been created."

"So, I can bring people here if I want someone interesting?"

"Of course. When you grow into your powers fully, you can offer your powers to them. A tiny fraction of it, and it would act as a layer of protection for them. So, with your powers, they could be here. Your father would have to allow it, of course."

"Why wouldn't he? A father loves his daughter and does anything for her. I saw it in the mortals."

"I think you know the answer to that, your highness."

Maleficent looked to have been drenched by a bucket of ice-cold water.

"I see. I am not truly his daughter in his eyes. Simply a piece of him."

"That is correct, though a little too morbid in the way you expressed it. The all-father is more of a concept than a being like you and I are. You know this, your highness. You are a daughter, but not a mortal one. He isn't capable of living like you and me. That is why he spent millennia creating you. So, you can be what he is not. Better, your highness."

"Could I be a mother, you think?" Those big blue eyes almost splitting the Grand-angels heart. The girl was too cute to deny anything.

"That is his wish, is it not? You were created so a piece of him can experience what emotions are."

"Given life only to please the parent. Is this the fate of all children who are birthed to their parents? Am I not my own existence?" Maleficent had something akin to sadness swirling inside her eyes.

'Her emotions are developing faster than I can keep up. In a matter of years, she will have the emotional awareness of the average mortal. Outstanding.'

"Your highness, your life is what you make it. The all-father gifted you this life so you could live as you desire."

Maleficent jumped up to hug Devon, displaying a smile that could overthrow a kingdom.

"You are quite magnificent. I shall not doubt your words. I will visit the mortal realms and experience what it is to feel."

"I will be with you every step of the way, your highness." Devon smiled.
