2 What is fair?

"Brother Xiang", a fourteen-fifteen years old girl came rushing towards Chen Xiang and her eyes twinkled with sincere joy to see him. She had long silver hair, big light blue eyes, and a very pale skin tone with contrasting cherry red lips. Her beauty was angelic that would make one losing himself admiring her. She was pretty to the point of perfection. A perfection that didn't exist in the previous world of Chen Xiang. Chen Xiang could feel the strong affection towards her that previous Chen Xiang held for her.

Princess Yuan Hua. Lover of previous Chen Xiang. Possessor of two elements-fire and air. Having Phoenix bloodline in her. The acclaimed genius of western lands. The information emerged in his head. And she was the reason he had to endure other's jealousy.

"Princess, please stay away from him. He might be dangerous", Li Yui Ying warned her in a bit off tone. He quite didn't like the intimacy with which princess addressed him.

Yuan Hua glared at him.

"You are doing this because you are jealous that he was chosen instead of you!"

"Princess. He was caught using demonic techniques. He is most probably having a demonic element in him"

"I've been with brother Xiang for so long. Would I not know if he was evil? Brother Xiang has a kind heart. Much better than you."

"It's alright Yuan Hua", Chen Xiang addressed her with a soft smile, intentionally dropping the honorific while passing a momentary smirk to already jealous Li Yui Ying.

Li Yui Ying could only swallow down his anger in front of the princess.

What was so good about that weakness? Why was the princess so obsessed with him?

Once that f**ker was exposed in front of everyone, he would ask the king to let him kill that imposter with his own hands as a reward. He would be sure to give him a torturous death!

On his way to the palace, Chen Xiang had gotten enough time to organize the memories of the previous Chen Xiang and got a little bit understanding of his outside world. He had perfectly moulded himself into Chen Xiang character. According to his memory princess was quite close to him, to the point that she had allowed him to call her by her name.

"I just need to take the test and clear their suspicion"

Chen Xiang had a plan. There was a reason he could form that shield at that time. And if he was right, that reason could save him.

Yuan Hua held his hands, stared at him with big puppy eyes that could melt anyone's heart and said. "Brother Xiang, don't worry. I won't let father hurt you"

Chen Xiang perceptive eyes inspected that cold middle-aged man as he tried to ascertain whether he was a friend or foe.

"Chen Xiang, you have been accused by the young master of Li family of using demonic techniques. Is that true?"

"Your Highness, at your level, you can clearly see through my cultivation rank. You can see I've not even mid through the Qi gathering stage. At this level how can I possibly be capable of using any demonic technique?"

"Your Highness, that is what that strengthens my suspicion. I believe he is hiding something using other such demonic techniques. I suspect he has a demonic element in him. We are all aware that his origins are unknown..."

"Stop it Li Yui Ying! Brother Xiang belongs to a noble family of western land"

"We all know that he is not the real son. He has been adopted."

"Princess, do not step into this matter if you don't have anything important to say", Yuan Zhang rebuked his daughter. She was young and naive. That was the main cause of his worry. In the treacherous world where conspiracies thrived, how was she supposed to survive with her attitude?

So she quietened and stepped away from the matter realizing that she was not helping it.

"If Chen Xiang really is innocent, then he shall have no objection going through the test", Li Yui Ying said confidently passing an evil smirk to Chen Xiang. Li Yui Ying was so happy. His happiness increased by years of hatred for Chen Xiang on being favored by the princess and the royal family. He could see Chen Xiang being caught and killed.

"I'll have no problem Li Yui Ying but first...", Chen Xiang slowly faced him, "Why don't you explain to everyone in detail that how did you discover that I had used demonic technique?"

"That..."

Of course, he and his fellows were bullying him. Bullying someone clearly weaker than them was a shameful act and looked down upon in the western lands. Though he didn't involve himself in it, he didn't stop his juniors either for the fact he despised that Chen Xiang. So being their senior, he was to be held responsible for it.

Noticing his reluctance Yuan Zhang said in a firm tune, "Explain"

Having left no choice Li Yui Ying gritted his teeth and said, "Upon being attacked by Wang Wook, he produced a spiritual shield that had a noticeable amount of dark energy in it and had the ability to kill Wang Wook. So either he is hiding his cultivation rank using other such demonic deceptions or he is having a demonic element in him"

"Why was I being attacked by Wang Wook?"

"This is irrelevant"

"You were clearly defying the laws by the king that someone at lower cultivation rank is not to be confronted by someone at a higher rank in his land"

"This doesn't matter!", Li Yui Ying burst when accusing eyes of other noblemen in the court landed on him, "What is important is that I was able to blow your cover!"

"I've not been proven guilty as of yet so you haven't blown up anyone's cover", Chen Xiang declared calmly, "And are you saying that the laws made by the king don't matter?", unlike Li Yui Ying, Chen Xiang voice was calm and firm.

"You...", Li Yui Ying didn't know what to say to that. Wasn't Chen Xiang a dull person who couldn't even speak in front of the king earlier? How came he become such a smooth talker.

Yuan Zhang lips curled up. The way Chen Xiang subdued Li Yui Ying with his wordplay was commendable. He might have been wrong about this kid previously. Perhaps all the bad rumors about him were wrong.

"You are saying these meaningless things just to avoid the testing", Wang Wook declared and stepped in to help his senior.

"I'll sure undertake the testing. But in case I'm proven innocent, as compensation for bringing dirt on my name, I want Li Yui Ying to kneel in front of me and beg for forgiveness"

"Presumptuous!", Wang Wook roared, "Do you think that our senior would kneel in front of a pathetic weakness like you!"

"Your senior is confident that I used a demonic technique while I say I didn't. If he's proven right, he'll surely be rewarded but if I'm proven right, I will not be rewarded. So don't you think it's only fair that he agrees?", Chen Xiang looked at Li Yui ling to mock him and tempt him into agreeing, "Unless your senior is only making up a story because he has some grudge against me"

"I agree", Li Yui Ying said without giving it a second thought.

Just let the f**ker be caught once! He would show him very well that who is going to beg whom!

"Bring the spiritual analyzer"

A big tray was brought. It was full of white powder. Chen Xiang could sense a strange blackness emanating from it. The material had the ability to suck one's spiritual energy and analyze it. Chen Xiang took a deep breath and stepped into it.
