Chapter 1 : An Encounter at the Library

On a peaceful and colourful day in Kyoto, Hiroshi a

first year at Aika High School Which is one of the best high school in Japan and best high school if you want chess to be your career.

Hiroshi was going to the library to study some books . As he reached the library , he ran his eyes over every table and chair but his eyes met with disappointment as no seat was available for him except one seat at the table where a girl  was doing some works.

Hiroshi had no choice but to go to her . As he moved to the same table .

"Excuse me , Is this seat free here" ? He asked with a calm and positive voice.

"Yes , go ahead" She nodded in delight.

After getting the permission , he sat on the chair and began reading books.

Hiroshi was a boy who is not interested in ranking in top 10 . He is just lazy and scored enough to stay out of trouble. As for social life , he was neither extrovert nor introvert. He just don't want to get attention .

Today was the first day , he had shared the same table with a girl , on top of that a beautiful and sharp one.

After some 20 minute passed at the library , he heard a sweet yet worrying voice "Oh God, why is this puzzle so complicated" this was the girl trying to solve a chess puzzle .

Hearing her , Hiroshi couldn't bear and he asked "Are you facing any difficulty? "

He asked with a faint smile." If you want I can help"

"Oh sorry for disturbing, I am trying to solve this puzzle for practise " she answered with a worrying expression in her eyes.

"Mind , If I take a look" Hiroshi said "Ok , go ahead " After taking a look at the puzzle , he noticed some ways to solve.

" If you move your rook to A6, then you'll get a opening " he said

"Ohh , I didn't see this move , thank you so much" she introduced herself " I am Emi Sayaka by the way , In class 1-C and I am a member of Elite Chess Club"

" Oh!,Nice to meet you , I am Kenzo Hiroshi of Class 1-B" Hiroshi introduced himself.

Emi Sayaka ranked on 50th on the entrance test which consisted 50 Marks for academics and 50 marks for chess. She scored 76 , 44 in academics and 32 in chess.

As for Kenzo hiroshi , he ranked 79th in the entrance test .

He scored 35 in academics and 30 in chess.

" Say , how did you solve this puzzle so quickly? " She got curious " Are you professional? "

" nah , I just played in my middle school " Hiroshi replied

" Then, how come you joined this school "

" Because of family pressure, I guess "

" Is your father a professional?" Sayaka inquired

Hiroshi chuckled, "No, my father isn't a professional. It's just that my family values education a lot, and they wanted me to attend a prestigious school like Aika High. Chess was just a casual hobby for me during middle school."

As the conversation unfolded, Hiroshi and Sayaka discovered a connection beyond the chessboard, bridging the gap between their worlds in the hushed corners of the library
