1 Meeting the God Of Medicine? Arriving in a new world...

Yes, as cliche as this may sound, I died and was reincarnated into another world. Just like so many others out there, I managed to chance upon God.

Now, how and when did I die?

Good question. Even if you didn't ask, I was going to explain it anyway.

It all happened on a normal working day. Being 30 years of age, I was already a general surgeon. Which is quite impressive but also not that impressive.

In case you do not know what kind of job it is, to put it across simply, it means I can perform surgery on many things and also not many things.

Anyways, while I was trying to remove a bunion on a patients leg...wait, lets backtrack a little. A bunion is an abnormal bony bump that grows at the base of your big toe. It occurs when some of the bones in the front part of your leg moves out of place.

Ok, back to topic. So yeah, I was performing a minor surgery to remove a bunion on a patients leg.

A simple procedure, nothing too hard actually.

"Ok, pass me the scalpel!"

The next thing I knew, my chest started feeling tight as the medical instrument fell out of my hand.

"DOCTOR!"

At that time, I was like, wow! I never knew I had a heart problem...I always thought I was healthy. I didn't smoke, didn't take drugs(that kind), ok...my diet was not the best but I still couldn't believe I died from a heart attack.

You know, now that I think about it, what happened to that patient? Did the others just leave him there while they attended and tried to resucitate me? Did the Morphine wear off and he woke up halfway with his foot still bleeding? Did he faint while looking at his foot?

You know what, I kinda pity him now. My bad random patient...I tried my best anyways.

Then, the next thing I knew, I was standing in a blank space.

Ok, here comes the cliche part again.

I somehow met some Omnipotent Being who claimed to be the God Of Medicine.

The God Of Medicine somehow took pity on me blah blah blah.

We talked some bullshit stuff as well blah blah blah.

He said it was a waste that I died blah blah blah.

He asked if I wanted to reincarnate in another world blah blah blah.

We talked about why I was here and not in hell blah blah blah.

We talked about stuff that didn't even relate to why/how I died or what was happening at the moment blah blah blah.

We started to somehow talk about girls as well blah blab blah.

He asked if there were any regrets I left behind blah blah blah.

You guys know the routine by now.

And yes, I did have some regrets. Wait, actually, do I really have any?

I was an orphan who grew up in an orphanage so I don't have birth parents to worry about. Ok, I might miss the old lady, Catherine, who took care of me while I was there...✔

Was my career successful? Umm..maybe? Was it a fun job? Umm..maybe?✔

Did I have any friends? Of course I did. But, they would forget about me soon anyways. I mean, they have their lives.✔

Did I have a girlfriend? Sadly at that point of time in my life, I didn't. I really wished I had though. It might have left me with one regret.✔

So, after beating around the bush for an hour, he decided to give me a system imbued into a status plate. Apparently, this status plate had several functions, including...

So, this was the start of my new life as a doctor in another world. Why did I want to be a doctor in this other world? Good question, I don't know it myself.

Why didn't I get a system or a shop that allows me to buy stuff, complete quests, get OP in a matter of days, or just get any girl I want? You know what, I am starting to regret my decision.

Trees I had never seen before...

A sky that resembled the sky I knew.

Air that was breathable.

The sun shone down, illuminating the green lushness of the surroundings.

A strange pig like creature trotted up to me and was currently sniffing my leg. An animal I had never seen before.

Right, I did end up in another world...

Again, now that I think about it, the way I died really sucks huh...

The pig creature continued sniffing my leg.

Wait, what was this world called again? Was it called something something...or was it that other something...

Oh well, who cares.

Hopefully there are beautiful Elves in this world...I would be more than willing to treat their illness.

I looked at my attire, which consisted of a simple plain white T shirt and jeans. Slung behind me was a 'backpack that somehow got there.' I opened it up and looked at the contents inside.

Did that God give me this? Shit, I really can't remember. Why is my memory so fuzzy...could it be the side effects?

Inside the bag were several pairs of clothes, a bag of gold coins and finally, a fifteen centimeter by nine centimeter silver plate, based on rough estimations.

Are those coins the currency used in this world? Ah, thats not important for now.

I took out the silver plate and started to examinine it, before noticing a small circle engraved on it.

Pressing a small circle at the side, like ink spreading through wool, these details suddenly appeared on the plate.

As I continued walking through a place which seemingly resembled a forest, I took out the packet of gold coins that was inside the bag.

Hmm, there were quite alot of coins inside.

Eh, is that a piece of note?...And a ring?

Inside the packet, was a piece of paper and a ring made of copper materials.

The paper had two points written on it...

• 1 Gold Coin = 1000yen

• This ring is an interspatial ring. You can keep your ingredients in there. It won't run out of storage space. Imagine the item and it will appear.

Hmm, so 1 of those Gold coin is approximately a 1000yen...which is around 10USD.

I then inserted the ring onto my middle finger. This item is really quite useful.

First of all, I should find a town first...

Along the way, several interesting objects caught my attention as I bent down to examine it in further details.

A bunch of red mushrooms with green spots grew in a small cluster at the base of a large tree.

I picked up one of the mushrooms and a screen like projection appeared in my mind.

Item : Toorigi Mushroom, grows in clusters. Summer is the perfect season for it.

Uses : Treat allergy symptoms, used for cooking.

Cons : Looks like a poisonous Mushroom.

I see, what an interesting ability. I should keep these mushrooms, I will definitely need it down the road.

Pointing the ring at the cluster of red mushrooms, they were absorbed into the ring as though being sucked into a blackhole.

Several more items piqued my interests, including some roots that were growing outside and beneath the soil.

Pulling it out --

Item : Shiso Root. Looks like Ginseng.

Uses : Used to treat flu-like symptoms, including runny-nose and cough. Can be used as a spice.

Cons : Hard to find.

Heh...so these roots are actually quite rare...

Ok, then I will just pluck them all out.

Pulling out the roots one by one, they were soon absorbed into the ring as well.

I should visit this forest often, there seems to be many beneficial herbs and plants.

Ahh...another mushroom. This time, the mushrooms were brown and resembled Shiitake mushrooms. This mushroom should be useful as well...

Item : Shiitoke mushroom. Looks like Shiitake mushroom.

Uses : Extremly poisonous. Used to kill a person within 30 minutes. Causes fever, vomitting, heart palpitations, explosive diarrhoea and ruptures blood capillary vessels.

Cons : Takes 30 minutes to kill a person.

Well well, the one which looks the least threatening ends up to be the killer instead. Just like how a mystery novel plays out.

Whatever, I think I can find a use for it as well. I will just keep it for the time being. As soon as I said that, the Shiitoke mushrooms disappeared.
