Chapter 10: Goryo

#WARNING CHAPTER ERROR#

During the last chapter, at the very end it mentioned Junpei and MC leaving to meet Gojo Satoru with Nanami and Itadori, but that is no longer the case, as Gojo would be overseas at the time, these changes have been reflected on this Chapter and Chapter 9, thank you for understanding.

'Hah… now that the conflict between Mahito and Itadori has been stopped, I need some way to supplement his growth, it'll probably only take a day or two before they complete the background check on Junpei to confirm he isn't a Curse-User before he enrolls, but for me, it's different case.'

Itadori and Nanami had just left, and I was currently considering the multiple possibilities and attempting to figure out what to do at the current moment, in one month the Kyoto Goodwill Event will occur, and I wasn't completely sure what the impact of him not fighting Mahito will be.

After I placed Sukuna's finger in my inventory, Mahito probably noticed he couldn't track it, and because of that, hopefully he'll falsely assume Itadori consumed it.

'I still need to be careful, if they investigate Nagi might get caught up in the crossfire if a fight occurs in the house.'

'That reminds me, since I have about two days to waste, I might as well get something done.'

'Better rewards for the more optional tasks you complete, quite easy for the Grade 2 through 4, but Grade 1's and Special-Grade curses will be much harder to find.'

Cursed Spirit's are a result of negative emotions, and are born in all kinds of grotesque shapes and sizes. They tend to linger around their point of origin.

Kawasaki City is quite populated but so were hundreds of other cities in the world, the chance of a Special-Grade just popping up was low.

If it wasn't for Mahito being able to track the finger I have in my possession, I would be able to use it to attract some cursed spirits, but fighting Mahito currently even with Junpei is a massive risk, as if Geto came with him, we would be screwed!

I had a good idea, since Kawasaki is such a large town, there had to be at least a famous Youkai or Ghost story, and if I talked to enough residents here, I might be able to find an Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spirit.

Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spirit's were cursed spirit's manifested from the cumulative fear of the masses, when many people share an image of fear.

It was my best chance to locate a powerful Cursed Spirit, and even if it didn't show any results, it was a good waste a time.

Getting my shoes on, I didn't bother to tell Junpei about my departure, I was confident enough to protect myself, and I doubt he cared If I went off by myself.

Opening the door, I left the house, and started walking around the streets of Kawasaki once again!

As I walked, I paid more attention than I did when I was walking to the theater with Junpei.

There were numerous buildings of various size which served as businesses, hotels, schools, and homes, I had only been outside a few times, usually later in the day when there were fewer people, but as I walked down the streets I noticed how heavily populated this city was.

And as I continued walking down the street, I spotted an old man giving Tarot Card Readings, a perfect target for my interrogation!

As he looked like he was idle I decided to approach, "Hey old man, do you mind if I ask you some questions?"

"Ohoho, of course, as long as you pay for the tarot card reading." the old man said with a chuckle.

"Tch, fine, how much?" I asked as I took a seat.

"1000 Yen."

Knowing full well that this old man might not of even lived here for more than a year worried me, but It wasn't that much, I would get it in a few tries, so I begrudgingly handed the money to the old man.

As the old man started shuffling the cards, I asked him the most important question, "So how long have you've been living here in Kawasaki?"

The old man continued to shuffle cards before taking the top card off of the deck and placing it down not revealing what was underneath, only after doing this did he answer, "I've lived here as long as I could remember, which Is quite long as I'm turning 110 this year."

'Jackpot!' celebrating the fact I didn't need to approach any more strangers, I asked the next question, "Perhaps you know of some old ghost stories, or legends popular with the youth here in Kawasaki?"

As the old man started shuffling the cards again, he responded, "Oh, there are many, but not as famous as an old legend that was popular back in my day." and as he finished answering, he spread the deck of cards on the table, "Pick one."

"Sure." selecting a card from the side, I placed it next to the other one, "Anyway, could you please give some more details about it then?"

"Of course, In 1823, a Princess had run away from an arraigned marriage and secluded herself in the forests that still surround Kawasaki to this day, they say if you're unlucky you'll find her log cabin, and those who enter will never return, some say she turned into a Goryo, but in my opinion she turned into something much worse."

As the old man finished explaining, he took the card from the bottom of the deck and placed it next to the others.

Hearing the last part of the story, my interest was piqued "Perhaps have you visited the cabin yourself?"

"Yes, I went when I was about your age, I never went inside, but the atmosphere that surrounded the place was terrifying!" the old man had a sense of panic, but continued the tarot card reading by flipping the cards over.

"Reverse The Hanged Man, Reverse The Fool, Three of Staffs, you suffer from internal strife and conflict, would you like to hear more?"

"No thanks, after all I have to find that cabin." but as I went to stand up, the old man showed a worried expression.

"Hold on, if your dead bent on going, I'll lead you to the clearing the cabin is located in, but I won't go any further after that, and you must head my final warning, after entering the cabin, you must make it out of the forest before nightfall!"

'I do need someone to lead me to it, I don't even know where the cabin is located after all...'

"Alright, fine it's a deal, let's go." Standing up I went to walk away.

"Hold on, I must pack up my stuff first."

. End Chapter .

My Thoughts:

Who knew such a small mistake could totally fuck over my creative flow, but now that I have something worked out, I'll be back to daily uploads hopefully…

The chapter was kind of short, but there's just was a lot of ideas I had to work through with Orvar to land on the actual conclusion of what the fuck to write, so once I began to write it just flowed out.

Also, in the quest menu, the 'Innate Technique' quest that was active, here's the content of it as a little bonus.
