11 The Quest Rewards

Kazuma felt exhausted even though he only fired one blast. Perhaps because he charged it up instead of firing it instantaneously, it must have drained most of his mana reserve in one go.

Without any way to even recover his lost mana aside from resting and sleeping, he is a lot more exhausted than he thought he would be. If he wanted to continue doing this and survive, he needed a way to increase the maximum mana he have.

As he was still in the middle of catching up his breath and resting for a bit, his phone that was currently in his pocket started to vibrate. Picking it up, he found someone messaged him on Harmony. When he checked, it was from Voltaire.\

----------

Voltaire: Yo, Trainee! I just saw your fight earlier and I must admit that you do pack a punch in battle!

Kazuma: You are watching? How did you know which quest I took?

Voltaire: Everyone can see who picked any kind of quest and who took it as a measure to rescue magicians who are in deep trouble with their quests and need urgent help. I saw you took this simple quest and so I followed you secretly!

Kazuma: Ugh, I definitely didn't expect the enemy to be aggressive. I don't feel that good right now.

Voltaire: I think you used up all your mana at the moment. Just give it a minute or two and you can go back just fine. You don't need to be too worried about it.

Kazuma: By the way, I finished the quest but how do I turn over the quest?

Voltaire: Has the quest paper you got after taking the quest been labeled complete?

Kazuma: Yes.

Voltaire: Then you just needed to go back to where you set up the Questing Board and give the quest completion notice there. Once the quest has been finalized, the promised reward will appear before you.

Kazuma: Ah, thanks.

Voltaire: So how is the first quest? Was it fun? Was it fulfilling?

Kazuma: I don't know. It is still early to say anything about this but I think I am liking it a bit. Feels like an RPG questing system or something.

Voltaire: Well, you will get used to it, I guess. Anyways, just checking up on you. And if you want to avoid getting low on mana in your next missions, perhaps you should also check the shop on the Kabbalah group. There's some useful stuff you can use there. Take that to your advantage.

Kazuma: There's a shop?

Voltaire: It's unlocked once you finished and turned over your first quest. Once you do, the shop will now be accessible to you. Anyways, I will have to go. You should also go back as well. Since the Qlipoth is now gone, I must say, that for your first job, you did a great one without even asking for any help. That is a big plus. Well, I said my parts. Enjoy your rewards, by the way. Talk to you later, trainee.

---------------

After that, Voltaire went offline. As for Kazuma, he can only sigh and stay still for a while. Although he won against the enemy, it felt like he is totally beat up with the mana thingie. As much as he felt the quest was easy, he mentally took note that he should take it easy in using spells. One day, he might kick the bucket due to this mistake.

The moment he recovered a bit of energy of his lost energy, he left the school playground and went to the nearest vending machine, and grab a soda, and took a break. For now, he should have a good rest for a bit before he should head back. It was an eventful day for Kazuma.

...

...

"I'm home..." Kazuma opened the front door and removed his shoes, entering the empty house.

Although no one greets back at him, it's much better than seeing his relatives' faces the moment he returned alongside the constant nagging.

Kazuma throws the backpack he used earlier on the sofa and he plops himself there, like an exhausted employee, sighed, and closed his eyes. With this new experience, he is now much more aware of what the enemies are like.

Qlipoth might be some ghosts, urban legends, and stuff similar to that. The enemy he fought earlier should be what the people call the legend as "the shadow hound". Although it doesn't look like a dog or a wolf to me due to how it is formless, it is fast enough with glowing eyes, that might have been mistaken to be a big dog. With humans panicking, it is clear that they are one kind of Qlipoth.

Still, even though it was considered one of the lowest danger levels in the Qlipoth Danger level chart, he can see how dangerous it would be for normal humans. It now makes sense as to why sometimes, these urban legends pop up one day and then disappear. The magicians are taking care of them regularly to ensure the Qlipoth does not grow in power.

With all that said and done, Kazuma is now energized that he decided to turn over his quest now and see how legit the quest rewards are.

Standing in front of the Questing Board, he held the quest completion paper in his hand. Kazuma didn't notice it at first but there was a small drawer on the questing board and a sign that shows that it was the right place to put the paper to turn it over.

The moment he put the paper into the drawer, it immediately became digitalized and his phone vibrated. Kazuma guessed that this must be either a completion message or a reminder that he unlocked the shop.

But that can wait, Kazuma looked below at the Questing Board, seeing a little digital chest appear and materialized in front of him. Once it fully formed and solidified, Kazuma tried to pick it up but it seems the chest was not part of the rewards. The chest was open though, so he does so and found the rewards that are promised on the quest.

The money is worth 15k yen and a white pill which would be the Elemental Pill Enhance I. The pill is a bit weird but it was inside a special container. There was also a small instruction book alongside the pill but he will have to check it out later. The first thing Kazuma did is count the money and ensure that the money is real and not fake. After all, the money just appeared out of nowhere and he is not sure whether he is hallucinating or maybe this is just magic and he was being tricked.

Still, he counted the money and ensured it was the real deal. His thoughts were sealed the moment he confirmed the money was definitely a real stack of money. That alone is something worth all of his effort.

"F*CK YEAH! I finally got some money!"

This is not just given to him by anyone or anything just as an allowance. It's not stolen money, it was hard-earned money that he took. He has finally found a job that is perfect for him as a student.

He wanted to celebrate immediately after earning his first hard-earned money but immediately stops. Saving the money for later on would save him a lot of time and effort. Spending it once for a celebration is not worth the effort.

And so, he decided to just treat himself to some good ol' sandwich and some meat inside the fridge he was saving up for later.

As for the pill, perhaps, a little bit later.
