28 Seven Mysteries Part 9

Having second thoughts about chasing the supposedly anatomical model, he decided not to do it. Not only will he have no alibi if he goes absent in that current class period, but there is also a chance that what he saw was just something he thought to be a running anatomical model was just another person, a student, or a teacher or perhaps the technician that surveys the lights and other stuff for safety purposes.

Based on Rain's words, it is more likely to flee rather than to engage in a fight therefore, the only best time to deal with it is to fight against it at night time. Chasing it right now would just attract attention to the students and the teachers. And he is not good at giving an alibi.

In the end, he decided to not do it. The risks are big and it's not worth it. It might be roaming for now, but it can still stay for a while longer.

Seeing that the teacher was coming to the classroom, he hurried himself inside the classroom and rejoined the class.

After the grueling hours of staying in the boring lectures, the last bell for the day rings, signifying the time for the students to go home. Kazuma sighed in relief knowing that school was finally over.

"Next time, be careful not to overexert yourself. Just because Rain and I were there to cover for you doesn't mean we can cover for you all the time," Moonlight said with a bit of a hint that she was disappointed in Kazuma's actions.

"Hey, it's not my fault that I am just a beginner alright? I am still learning the ropes," Kazuma reasoned.

"If that is the case, you should be practicing first before doing the tasks. You are still not ready."

After that, Moonlight stood up and went home, leaving Kazuma staring at her departing figure. Moonlight is right, however, Kazuma also believes that the sooner he experiences things and the more he adapts in battles, the easier to master skills and elements. After all, nothing could beat a real-life experience.

He left the classroom and decided to go back home. With the upcoming hunt for the seven mysteries, he needed to be prepared. It is already six after he eliminated one of them but he needed all the help he needed to survive especially since he doesn't want to get incapacitated and unable to battle later if he runs out of mana.

After he arrived at his house, he didn't bother to change his clothes and instead grabbed the bag he used during his first mission. He still got the previous items he brought before in his first mission. There is still something lacking and that is something that would allow him to last long with mana.

Opening the Kabbalah shop, the AI in the store greeted him.

"Welcome to the Kabbalah shop, Magician! Your credit balance has been updated after you finished a mission not too long ago. Since it was an urgent mission, you are awarded 20 credit points for the successful suppression! Keep racking up those points and shop a lot!"

Kazuma is delighted when he hears that the last mission where he fought a Qlipoth with Moonlight gave him more credits than usual due to it being an urgent mission. Now, he has 80 credit points although it is still meager, it is enough now to buy something though it is also the only thing he can afford.

-----

[Mana Restoration Pill]

Price per bottle: 80 Credits

Minimum Rank to buy: Malkuth rank

Information: A pill that is designed for easy consumption without drinking a nasty potion. It significantly restores mana lost during a battle. Stocking up on this is necessary, especially for newbies but can also be useful to veterans.

-----

It's a bit disheartening that he immediately lost the 80 credits but he needed to survive therefore, this is essential. After his purchase, the bottle of Mana Restoration Pill appeared on the table, after the store AI prompted him to check if it arrived.

Seeing it arrive without delay, Kazuma is happy. He took a quick look at the item and was surprised there were at least 20 pills inside. Seeing the number of pills inside, he wasn't disappointed in its price after all.

Closing the shop, he put the bottle of pills inside his pocket. Thankfully, the container is not made from glass and is made of plastic, making it safe to perform difficult moves that might involve him rolling around or dodging. It would be troublesome if he spilled it in the middle of a battle and lost most of the pills that he might need.

Now that the purchase was done, he grabbed the trusty knife that he used on his first mission. It might end up not getting used, but he needed a weapon anyway. He feels much safer with one in his hands. But this time around, he felt that one weapon was not enough. He is not sure what weapon would be a good option but then, he realizes something.

"Since I am going to target a supposed statue, doesn't that mean a blunt weapon would help in a fight?" Kazuma thought.

A blunt weapon would be a good choice indeed and he went to the basement where all the tools are located. He saw a sledgehammer but it would be weird to bring one with him at school and the guards would definitely suspect something was up. Even with the armband, he won't be able to explain why he would bring a sledgehammer to the school.

Kazuma thought of instead using the tools, he would bring a baseball bat that his father had stored in the basement as well but he shook his head as well as that is not an ideal weapon to use on statues that are made from stone. As he was thinking about which weapon to bring, his eyes wandered straight to the hammer sitting at the top of the toolbox along with some nails and a chisel. That's when Kazuma got an idea. Grabbing the hammer and chisel, he found a good weapon he could use for the statue. He also grabbed the nearby nail gun and the nails he found and loaded them into a magazine. It's a gas-powered nail gun making it portable to use and easy to put inside the bag as well. It will act as his gun in case he needs to use one. It's not so bad to prepare too much.

"Looks like I am all set."

Wearing the armband on his left arm, he is now ready to confront the seven mysteries at night.
