21 Seven Mysteries Part 2

The pill was now in Kazuma's hands and after a single encouragement from Catmod, he received the mission officially on the Questing Board.

"Oh, by the way, Kazuma. Before we forget, here is your armband. Wear it during afterschool times or during when you are on a mission." Yaya then tossed the armband to Kazuma which the latter caught.

It's a normal armband that is usually seen being worn by the student council. The difference between the two is that the student council armband is color red with a border of black while the armband Kazuma was holding is blue with a white border which is the opposite of the former.

"What is this for?" Kazuma asked.

"It's a special pass that we magicians wear. Guards roam around the school to look for delinquents lurking around and doing some stupid stunts or see if there are any intruders. With this armband, you will be able to bypass that and the guards will allow you to roam around the school anytime after school without any consequence. And since most of the time, hunting Qlipoths at school is done usually after school or during night time when students are no longer around, it is something that was created to ensure us magicians who were current students here can enter and exit the school premises without anything to worry about," Yaya explained.

"So does that mean even the guards are magicians?" Kazuma asked.

"Nope. They are normal people and the only directive they know is that if they have seen a student wearing these armbands, then they will not interfere and will remain in their guard house and plug their ears with earplugs. And after every day, the management will then proceed to do some mind alteration in case the guard saw something that was meant only for the eyes of a magician."

"Wait, isn't that kind of invasion of privacy? Also, shouldn't that be pretty bad as well?" Kazuma frowned.

Catmod seems to have taken an interest in the conversation so he decided to join the talk.

"Not really. It would be bad if we delete all of the memories of the guard but those memories deleted are the sightings of the Qlipoth, meeting any supernatural events involving the Qlipoth and many more that shouldn't be leaked to the public. It's a way to keep the civilians in the dark about the true enemies. If they knew what was happening, wouldn't the chaos in this world become pretty troublesome to deal with?"

Kazuma nodded in thought. If the situation about the freaky Qlipoths leaks out to the public and the world knows about their existence, wouldn't the normal people who couldn't learn magic be terrified for their lives to do anything at all? It seems this is a failsafe to ensure that all information about the Qlipoth and magicians remains only to those who should be able to know.

"Oh, and while we are still on this topic, please avoid giving too much info to the guards on why you are still at school, especially at night. Humans tend to be curious creatures and even they would be very curious about why you are allowed to get inside with just the armband. As we always say, this is a confidential matter. Don't think about leaking info about the Kabbalah or the Qlipoth to a civilian or you might be stripped of the right to continue as a magician and then wipe your memories regarding this exchange." Catmod reveals his claws to Kazuma after giving this reminder.

Kazuma involuntarily gulped and mentally took notes that he would never be babbling any info to people aside from fellow magicians of the Kabbalah.

"By the way, I already authorized you to be on a private chat with your teammates for this quest, Raigaki and Rena. Although you three will be investigating the Seven Mysteries, you three will be investigating separately. Learn and tell the info you gathered to the other two using the private chat. It's also a good way for you to learn the progress of the quest as well. Don't forget to communicate with them alright?" Yaya taps on her phone and Kazuma's phone vibrates. Picking it up, he saw the notification of him joining the private chat.

"Now go. Be sure to cooperate with your seniors alright? Don't want something similar to the incident with Moonlight to happen again." Catmod then returned to his previous area and lay down to continue grooming himself.

Kazuma nodded in response and bid farewell to them. While he was on the way to his classroom, he decided to open the Harmony app and check the private chat room. He wanted to also know whether the two had already gathered info about the Seven Mysteries. He just transferred so he does not know what mysteries were there.

As he was entering, Rena who was currently online put a message on the chatroom.

--------------

Rena: Woah, it seems the last member is here, welcome Kazuma!

Kazuma: Oh, hey there senpai. Nice working with you and Raigaki-senpai.

Rena: Hoho, no need to be polite, my kohai. We are both magicians by trade. It's alright to be respectful but we are friends here, no need to keep the formalities like that.

Kazuma: Is that so?

Rena: Yep. Anyway, I know why you decided to check the chat room. You want information, right?

Kazuma: Yes. I just transferred here to this school so I am not too familiar with this school's Seven Mysteries. Since this involves the Seven Mysteries, does that mean our enemies are ghosts or malevolent spirits?

Rena: Haha, nope. Although you can say they are malevolent spirits, they are not the enemy but the Qlipoth themselves. But to answer your questions, it's both a yes and no.

Kazuma: Why so?

Rena: Seven Mysteries present in this school are both mysteries and horror stories. But compared to the Seven Mysteries in other schools that you hear, this school always changes its Seven Mysteries multiple times.

Kazuma: So you mean, the Seven Mysteries has always been different many times?

Rena: Yes. After all, once a mystery is solved, the mystery will cease to be one.

Kazuma: Wait, so this quest has happened before?

Rena: Indeed. We deal with the Qlipoth that manifests in these mysteries and keeps the civilians out of harm by solving the mystery and unveiling its truth. There are times the mystery involves the Qlipoth so once we defeat the Qlipoth, naturally, the mystery will cease to exist as well. This time around, a new Seven Mysteries has been added once more and due to this, we will have to do something again.

Kazuma: What if it was all just a little hoax?

Rena: If it's a hoax, much better. But if it is indeed true and a Qlipoth is behind it? We deal with it. And that's the introduction to this Seven Mysteries.

Kazuma: So, can you tell me what these mysteries are?

Rena: Actually, we are still investigating the new Seven Mysteries and we just confirmed three as part of them. Raigaki is the one who is gathering the information so I can only relay the three that I know right now.

Kazuma: That's fine. If the seven mysteries of this school always change, it's natural that we will have to look for info on these new mysteries.

Rena: Indeed. Here, I sent a small file for you to read. It will be updated once Raigaki has finished his investigations. The three mysteries are also there so give it a read.

Kazuma: Alright. Thanks.

Rena: You're welcome~ Anyways, I will be investigated too as well. Catch you later on. If you know or learned the new mysteries as well, don't hesitate to give a holler to this chat. That way, Raigaki can compile the information.

Kazuma: Alright. You can count on me. However, I doubt I will get any good useful information aside from what was already known.

Rena: Don't be too discouraged alright? Anyway, talk to you later then!

---------

After the chat, Rena has indeed sent him notes about the new mysteries. It's also modifiable for later on which means things can change. Kazuma returned to the classroom to have a proper seat and take a good reading to the new quest.

Kazuma does believe in ghosts so he is a bit perplexed when Rena says that there is a chance that this involves ghost stories. Will they be fighting ghosts as a result? Or will there be more than what it is? Excited, Kazuma clicked the information about the new Seven Mysteries.
