20 Seven Mysteries Part 1

"During the Showa Era, everything was under..." The teacher in front who was teaching history continued to talk and lecture his lesson to everyone.

There are some who are diligently taking notes, while some are already dozing off. Some are barely able to keep themselves awake from the class and although listening to the lesson, it seems the voice of the teacher is turning into a lullaby for them. That's what is currently happening on Kazuma right now who is struggling to keep himself awake.

On the other hand, Moonlight who was just sitting beside him is diligently taking notes like an honor student. She listens intently and continues to write the important bits and parts of the lessons while also taking some references from the book as well.

KRINNNNNGGGGGG!

Only when the bell rings signifying the time for recess that Kazuma jolted awake from his slumber.

"Wuh? Class is over?" Kazuma wipes off the saliva running down his mouth and looked around. Most of his classmates have gone straight to the cafeteria to fight with other students to get the chance to take one of the rarest and most delicious cafeteria food available.

Not all of them though as Moonlight is still finishing her notes and are still writing a few points here and there. Kazuma couldn't really care less about the food in the cafeteria so he stood up slowly and stretched his body for a bit.

He looked at Moonlight but she was too busy to even care about him right now. He sighed in resignation and decided to go to the cafeteria. Although the students are crowding there, once the crowd dissipates, he can go and buy something peacefully.

Like what he expected the canteen is packed with students and even trying to push through them seems like a challenge. Kazuma looked around and noticed two vending machines, one for the drinks and one for snacks. The snacks are not that similar to the ones sold to the cafeteria stores but it's a clear snack that is good enough for consumption and can fill the stomach just fine.

He was about to buy one to at least fill his hunger when his phone vibrated.

He does not expect any messages so if someone is contacting, the most likely it will be is Voltaire calling.

And he was right.

"Hello?"

"Kazuma? Where are you right now?"

"Cafeteria, near the vending machines."

"Ah, once you are done there, can you please go to the clubroom? We have some matters that we have to discuss. It's about some new job. If you are interested, please swing by to the clubroom."

"A new job eh? Well, I am technically free, I will go there once I bought my food."

"Alright then. I will meet you later."

Then, the phone call ended. Kazuma then turned back his attention on the vending machine before grabbing putting in a coin and getting the item he wanted to eat. With his business in the cafeteria done, his next stop is the clubroom.

Entering the clubroom, he already saw Catmod currently licking his fur while Yaya is on one of the table, lying while fiddling on her phone. Other than the two, no one else is there and the person he was expecting to see is also not present.

"Eh? Where is Voltaire? I heard he has something to discuss with me?"

"Oh, it's the newbie,"

"Sup noob," Yaya raised her hand but she returned her attention back to the phone.

"Looking for Voltaire? He was just here but he has to leave in a hurry as there is something of an important matter," Catmod meowed before he retuned to his business of grooming himself.

"Then, should I wait here until he comes back?"

"I can tell you what was needed to be done in behalf of Voltaire instead. There's a chance that Voltaire won't come back for a while. Besides, this job is from my investigations so you can say I am the source of the thing that Voltaire wanted me to discuss," Catmod stopped himself from grooming and stood up from lying on the table before stretching.

"Is it about more Qlipoth enemies?"

"Yes, but it's not that easy compared to the previous ones as this one needed an investigation yourself."

"How dangerous is it?"

"No idea. There's a chance that it will become easy or it will end up as a very dangerous job. It is a very volatile job that is considered troublesome by many."

"But why I am the one who will be dealing with this? Shouldn't there be many others who can undertake this mission?"

"You are not the only one who has this mission. Rena and Raigaki are also on this quest as well as they felt that this is not an ordinary quest despite being labeled as a Malkuth quest line. Both of them are already conducting their own research and investigation of this matter so rest assured you are not the only one."

"What is this mission though?" Kazuma asked. If two magicians are already working why need another one who is a newbie?

"Have you heard of the "Seven Mysteries" currently moving around the gossips of many students?"

"Not sure I have."

"Figures. After all, you just transfered here, but anyways, you should be familiar what this kind of phenomenon is right?"

"Yes, since there are seven mysteries appearing here and there in some schools which became something that students use to conduct their own test of courage shenanigans."

"Good. Then we shall cut to the chase. According to my investigation, there is a chance that the Seven Mysteries present in this school are Qlipoth Manifestations. We needed someone who is studying in this school to conduct a research and investigation to learn if whether this is true or not."

"Why me? There is Moonlight and Yaya who can do this as well, right?"

"Sorry to disappoint you, Noob. But I have already taken a quest much more dangerous than this quest and I can't abandon it to take this one. As for Moonlight, she also have one quest already been doing as well so you can say that you are pretty much the candidate in this mission. The others just have their own business and are too busy to handle this matter," Yaya answered while still on her usual position. It seemed she was just listening on our conversation.

"Well, as long as this is not that dangerous. Then I will take it. But how about the rewards?"

"The rewards is 100,000 yen and 7 different pills that can help with your magic training. It's not much but it's the appropriate reward for this quest whether it ends up as a hoax or a real deal. It's a reward that is not divided to participants but given to each individual who have undertaken the job."

100,000 yen! Kazuma's eyes lit up. For someone like him who is already happy for meager gains in some job, 100,000 yen as a one time reward is something that he wouldn't dare to get unless he save his money.

"Alright then, I accept."

"Good. But first, you needed to get a little bit stronger for a bit. Just with your current strength, I doubt you will have an easy time if it becomes a Qlipoth. Take this and use it to enhance yourself."

Catmod throws a pill to Kazuma's direction and he caught it.

"Is it alright to receive this?" Kazuma asked.
