29 Seven Mysteries Part 10

The guards at school are now stationed in their guardhouse, just in front of the gate. Seeing off every single student and making sure every single one of them is safe and has already gone back home or to where they wanted to go.

One young man wearing a guard uniform shows up and stands still as he faces the guard who is still smoking and watching the students passing by. He noticed the young man and that's the time when he stood up.

"Are you the new guard assigned here today?" the old man went out from the guardhouse and faced the new guy.

"Yes! My name is-" Before he could say anything, the old man interrupted him.

"Yes, yes, Karuna Nikijou. Now come inside. Although the job is simple, things are different here in this school. Let me ask, have you already worked in other schools?"

"Huh? I was a guard previously in one of the prestigious colleges but because that college decided to no longer hire guards, my superior decided to assign me to a new school and here I am now."

"Well, that shortens things then. The work here is similar to your old work, but some unspoken rules are given here. It's usually taught to us while we are being hired but since you are a new guy, here are some of the rules you need to follow. There are only four of them so don't worry about memorizing them. They cannot be defied or you will hear a lot from the agency and perhaps the headmaster himself," the old guard then handed him a small piece of paper folded neatly.

The guy named Nikijou frowned at first since he never heard of a school with additional unspoken rules, but he still decided to accept it and read the thing.

1. Students who wear an armband with blue and white color, should be allowed inside the campus even if they come in the middle of the night. Don't ask them what they are doing here, that is not our job. If they don't wear those armbands, don't let them in.

2. If you encounter the students who wear the armband during your patrols, return to the guardhouse immediately and don't bother talking to them.

3. If you want to retain your job, anything you see, hear, or feel, ignore and forget about them. Just stay in the guardhouse and pray that morning will come sooner.

4. If a black cat enters the guardhouse, don't chase it away and let it stay. Unless you have a cat allergy, don't chase it away. Give it treats at times if you want but let the cat stray around the campus so if you see him inside, don't bother talking or calling it.

Four rules.

They aren't vague rules but they are weird. Also, why is it that they are allowing the students with armbands to enter, even if it is late at night? That is something that he only heard in a video game.

Then there are the other rules that he needs to ignore everything he sees or hears. That is just something that he didn't understand. There is even a rule about a cat.

"I can see that you are confused. It's normal. You will get used to it. Oh, look over there. If you see an armband similar to that armband on that kid with a big backpack, then let them in and don't ask questions."

Nikijou looked in the direction that the old man pointed and he saw a male student. He still wears the same uniform of the school but he has the armband on his left arm. It looks very similar to the armbands used by the student council. But there is something wrong. It's almost 6 in the evening and the students have gone back home already. So what is this guy doing?

The old guy decided to talk to the incoming student which promptly stopped the kid from going further. He then thought the old man would stop him from going in.

"Are you the new transferee student who gets the armband?"

"Yes."

"If that is the case, then have a good night."

The student nodded before entering the school and slowly disappeared as he went through the building.

"Just what is this guy doing inside? Shouldn't it be forbidden to come back inside the school premises outside school hours, especially at night?"

"The students with Blue and White armbands are exempted from that rule. If you want to keep your job stable and continue for many years, don't bother to ask why you should go in. For now, let's relax. You will get used to it soon."

Kazuma just managed to pass through the gates even though the sun had set and the students were no longer on the school premises. Rena and Raigaki remained on the school premises as they were much stronger already and could do whatever they needed to do, they didn't have the same power as Kazuma who just started.

For Kazuma's target, he will have to see whether the statue of the founder should exist or not. Although a bit nervous about the outcome and whether the mystery was real or not, Kazuma still pressed on and into the front of the school building.

Despite being prepared to see a statue, Kazuma indeed encountered the thing itself. The statue that shouldn't exist.

"Holy sh*t...a statue of the founder does exist?!"

Kazuma grabbed the hammer and chisel from his bag and readies himself. Putting the bag nearby, he slowly approached the statue. Although his memory is not that good, Kazuma is quite sure that this place doesn't have any statues that block the entrance with it. Seeing one before him made Kazuma a bit nervous.

Despite his nervousness, he continued and approached the statue. Despite his vigilance, the statue didn't do anything aside from remaining in the same pose like it was a normal statue that had always existed. But for Kazuma, this thing shouldn't exist.

It remained stationary even when he approached. He was quite sure it would spring to life the moment he got close but he was wrong seeing that the statue remained like a real statue.

Inspecting the plaque, it is unreadable for some unknown reason making the plaque that should post the name of the statue itself but the plaque was not even making any sense. It's just a blurry name and whenever he tried to speak something related to it, it also felt like something was missing.

Just as Kazuma is trying to learn what it is when he looks up at the statue, the statue's face is already facing his face to face with a demonic smile that can only be seen in anyone's nightmares.

"F*CK!" Kazuma was so surprised and instinctively swung the hammer in his hands straight at the statue.

THUNK!

The hammer seems to have bounced back from the swing the head of the hammer landed on the face of the statue. Kazuma no longer thinks this is an easy task and has taken several steps just to get himself away from the statue which decided to start moving.

"That's a Qlipoth product alright and we are f*cked."

Kazuma readies his weapon and now, he has to deal with the enemy that is seriously f*cked up.
