Chapter Fifteen: Angels POV: Jobs And Positions

Song recommended: Bare Wit Me by Teyana Taylor

I always knew about positions. It's always been a hierarchy to displaying who has more power and responsibility. The archangels were the ones closest to Him, then came the rest of the angels and then the souls.

Yet here, their positions revolved around who had the most money and oddly not who worked the most. I understood the head's amount of jobs but this oddly didn't make sense for me.

A nine to five job, for a salary that could potentially not be enough, yet the ones above didn't really have to work that many of hours… well that's what I was told by Cheryl. She was the one that would guide me, yet what she had done for the last twenty minutes was complain about the positions.

I've been kind enough to bite my tongue and not question her but I was getting to a point where I really wanted to be impolite and just figure it out for myself. Yet I know that might make me look bad in her eyes and though I was a fallen angel plus I was new here.

I didn't want to be an outcast in this place also.

"… I was thinking of setting fire in the head office, just for the mere fact that I need a break. I wake up way too early and get here, I can't even take a two minutes break because I've already got work to do.

It's like can I please freaking breath. Like can I just-"

"Cheryl! Where is the new employee and can she type fast?" came a voice behind us. Cutting Cheryal off and making me want to thank the angels for silence even if its for a little. "I was still showing her around, sir." She said quickly, filling her face with a tough façade.

Her aura glowed black, red, and grey.

I have just decided I don't like Cheryl and I don't think I should trust her. She might as well be a backstabber because of all these auras that she had above her.

"Aural, meet Mr. Kenneth, his our supervisor. Mr. Kenneth, I was still showing her around, she's new here and in the state. So I haven't gotten to the part where I showed her to her desk and stuff." Cheryl said. This woman just lied through her teeth without any stutter, she should teach lying classes.

"She can learn that later, come with me Aural." He said and immediately walked away, my brows creased but I felt Cheryal push me forward, gesturing at me to follow him. I'm confused was I not supposed to follow whoever is in charge of me and from what I know, she is in charge of me.

"Miss Aural, let's go." He ordered and it made me feel some way, I didn't like receiving orders. I despised it and from the way, I looked at him, I could see that he knew it. "Please," he added carefully. Sighing, I followed him and took a deep breath of air.

"I know Cheryal, she never shows the newbies around and when we need them to get to work, they don't know what to do. All she does is gossip and honestly, it annoys all of us but she does a good job so why fire her for her mouth. For now anyway." He said with a small smile.

He immediately got into showing me around, pointing at the bathrooms, the kitchen, and then the office sections. Right then we got to a specific floor where I saw the majority of the woman wearing what I wore. The brands displayed highly but all the women here smiled and got to their work.

They moved so easily and then I noticed something… they all had a specific look and aura. The way they glided was with ease. Some of them worked with some sort of speed. Some of these employees weren't human, they were fallen.

They were all in one room.

"Aural… are you okay, you don't seem okay." He said as he took a step towards me and I stepped back immediately. "Sorry, yes, yes I am. I just have a tendency of forgetting… how lucky… I am to be working here." she lied, not sure how to cover up her emotions.

The reality was she was overwhelmed by this and having to work with other beings, didn't help. It made her want to question why so many of them were fallen's and why hadn't they worked hard to gain His redemption. That way they could go home and continue with their honest lives.

"That is such a gracious compliment, we do what we can and we've done an amazing job with the help of every employee. Don't listen to Cheryal, we are more of a family than employees and employers. Come let me show you your desk." He said and she instantly nodded. Not wanting to let her words fail her.

Once they got to their desk, she noticed that she had a view of the other buildings around and that it looked quite peaceful. She actually liked it. The table was simple, it had what she needed and just as she was about to ask a question, she noticed that he was gone.

Her brows creased from confusion, what on earth.

"Welcome. I'm Alice. I will be helping you adjust for a while. These are your portfolios for today. You will need to complete around a hundred a day and then as you are done. You may either go home or tap into the next day's work so that you aren't here for a long period of time.

As you know, our hours are nine to five from Monday to Friday and the weekends are off. We receive documents that need to be moved from paper, add a few adjustments by calling the people, and then updating the information on the system.

There will be rude people and stuff but you will get used to it. It might be overwhelming but you learn to deal with it. I swear. Let me help you and show you how to do the job." She said with a smile and proceeded to show me how everything is done.
